First expansion pack and new race

I would like to see the Bangaa race along with the Templar job(tanking lancer)released

Ishgard hate dragon, as much as dragon hate them. don't hope for any dragon-like race near ishgard it will be really really really bad for the lore.

It being related to Ishgard is because Ishgard is stated to be Battle Content, but you do make a point that SE would probably drop the ball on even that. :x

Like any FF game, there's always exceptions and which FF game doesn't have a sect of people that despise x yet still find friendly versions of said enemy strewn about? Look at Goblins, usually the first enemy in many FF games you play yet in later ones we almost always have a friendly group of them. Gria obviously aren't from this part of Eorzea, but if Blizzard can allow us to play as Aliens for the hell of it, SE can allow us to play as pseudo dragon people. It'd make much more sense than Bangaa for example.

We have enemies from FFXII in Eorzea. With that in mind it wouldn't be so far fetched to have Viera and Bangaa introduced as playable races.

Man, I'd switch to bangaa so fast @_@ Don't think it'll happen, though. It'll probably be padjal or something boring. If they introduced one of the more exotic races they wouldn't be able to copy/paste gear sets across races anymore. That said, Nu Mou would be cool, or Burmecian, mayhaps.

No, seriously. As cool as that would be, I think that they might put in vieras or moogles first (or both, vieras as female only and moogles... well, who can differentiate a male moogle from a female one when designed as here in FFXIV?).

If they release the Vierra, they will have to release a male counter part to it, breaking the lore slightly, just like the Miqo'te. Either way, if they bring the Bunny Women into this game, I'm switching races so fast...

It'd be kinda funny if it was Seeq. You could make a drinking game out of how many players chose names that incorporated ham/bacon jokes.

the Dragoon questline ends with it talking about you someday healing the rift between Dragons and Ishgard, I think that might be the ultimate Ishgard questline(That and throwing out the Bishop)

I agree that if we got a new race, I would want it to be original art assets. Something completely new. Not more recycled, old Final Fantasy stuff.

I don't see why people think everyone wants Viera for a "fetish".

I want them because their lore is awesome, they look great, and they aren't disproportioned like Elezen are.

Because many of us know it boils down to people wanting sexy animal women whether they deny it or not. You may not, but let's be real, not many care for lore/storyline, which is why people would want Bangaa for example.

That's how you get squidfaced spacegoats in your game. its going to be impossible to make up something without some basis elsewhere why not keep with visual cues that work with what we have rather than trying to throw in something novel for novelty's sake?

What's wrong with draenei? I found them rather fascinating additions to WoW, to be honest. Creativity is not a bad thing. Leaning on the same few creative assets over and over again drains the creativity of those assets until it just seems lazy. Squeenix has an opportunity with XIV to play with a new world and build never-before-seen cultures. There are entire continents on Eorzea we know nothing about; they could easily create something entirely new.

If anything what I would want from a race in final fantasy would be centaurs to give an idea would be like this.

I was just googling about the future races being added and found this thread and replied to it q.q

In early 1.0 there's Gria appeared in that really long banner.
There also also mention about Gria sometime ago, forgot when.

Viera would totally fit imo. Not only that it was the favourite race out of the Voting, like someone mentioned they allready have different Tribes. It is hard to find really good pics about them, but there are TONS of fan-arts which look really great.

I presume the character you're referring to is the character second from the far left of the image - however, that person is clearly a padj'al, his horns are the giveaway. I still loved that pic nonetheless (I had a compressed form as a desktop wallpaper for a while.) :)

I would love to see Ronsos implemented in the game. They have that animalistic-beast like quality that I feel is absent in the races to choose from (I mean yes Cat people, but they seem mostly human to me.) If Viera was to be added I would hope they keep them leaning slightly more to the animalistc side than Miotes are atm. Even if it was just exaggerated claws for feet and hands and some facial detailing.

I also like this rendition where they seem more of an elegant (possibly sassy) class. This would also be kinda cool and would combat with the chipperness/over emotional quality the cat girls have.
