This is higly unlikely considering they made the game to be played on gamepad OR mouse+kb. Having to do what you suggest would put the PS3 people at a huge disadvantage. Not to mention those twisters appear under players and the chance the mouse cursor was exactly under/over a player is pretty much 0. They would also have to translate screen coordinates into map coordinates and sync everything with other people. All in all, I think it's pretty unlikely.

I guess it's possible, far stretch due to many groups already doing it with 2 summons and a VIT materia stacked soaker with Stoneskin (so 3 Flesh stacks). Any lower than that and you'd need 2 people with 6k+ EHP each.

Wouldn't it be hilarious after not really wanting warriors for most of coil, sorry axemen/women I still love you, if their giant hp pools turn out to be the key to this.

Seeing how they are typically knocked out at the beginning seems a little too convenient for the hardest boss in the game. This is in an environment where previous turns of the coil have had rather important responsibilities for a second tank. (Pass-the-parcel on ADS and separation-management on Cadeceus.)
It is also not unheard-of for lesser mobs to interact with a boss. Examples are Cadeceus' slugs, Suparna & Chirada, and the Tonberry King's rancorous army. Twintania's Scourges may follow this trend. It may be that the Twisters will target the Scourge if one is still alive (or even Conflagration for that matter). Or perhaps one less Twister spawns for each Scourge alive.

I have a hard time seeing how a group could get through the fireball/conflag phase with liquid hells constantly being thrown on top of the group.

So has anyone been in today since the update? How are things going?

My current guess is quite simply that Twintania detonates twisters instantly if it's not slowed, and might have a cast time if slowed, making one of the Scourges necessary to reliably get past twisters, otherwise it's pretty much a total coinflip.

There isn't a point to the Scourges in this fight if they are meant to be killed within the first 30 seconds and serve absolutely no purpose besides... being killed. Adds in the middle of the fight serve a purpose, because they're there to make sure your offtank is still paying attention and your group and quickly refocus, but adds at the beginning are nothing but tank and spank, so there has to be a point to their slow mechanic.

I have to agree with your logic, but at the same time we have to ask why isn't this mechanic consistent? This is just a "for funnies" theory, but what if the crappy server->client position issue is actually the reason why people live rather than why they die? As in, they should be dying, but because of the framework the server is placing the tornado in the wrong spot. This is purely bs speculation and I only really made the comment because of the irony of it.

In truth, until the mechanic is consistently beaten, all of these "sometimes" working strategies are all up for scrutiny.

As a raider of endgame stuff for over a decade now, I am highly suspicious of the Scourges playing an important role in this encounter. Adds that you can burn down in the first 30s of the fight in which the boss is really not "doing" anything terribly special just scream out to me. The fact that nobody has showed up to debunk the theory makes me even more sure that the "super e-peens" that think world firsts mean something aren't sharing.

Unless I'm missing something, the Scourge don't have a slow mechanic. I mentioned it in here somewhere - Twintania is slowed by the rings around her body at the start of the fight, and as the fight progresses, she drops them on the ground (when players stand in them they get the same slow debuff). This has nothing to do with whether or not the adds are alive.

Some people were suspicious initially because they thought that it would be strange for the OT to have nothing to do the rest of the fight, but there's actually MORE (different) adds later in the fight, and also I have a sneaking suspicion that the strategy for tanking her is 'supposed' to be having tanks rotate on Twintania (even though plenty tank her with rotating cooldowns on one tank - I think this just sort of goes back to SE's 'surprise' that guilds were able to use Paladin CDs to such high effectiveness).

EDIT: On a side now, I WOULD be highly amused and have considered what was spoken above - that indeed there is some trick to surviving and that the positional update bit might be effecting it in the reverse manner - that people are surviving when they're NOT SUPPOSED TO, giving us the reverse impression. At which point - well - lolz.

The fact that twisters seem to hit the MT make me thing you are suppose to block/prevent them in some way. Pretty much every ability of that kind that hits the party and you can avoid (see Titan plumes, Caduceus acid split) never hit the MT for obvious reasons if the tank is alive.

That's not how it works. Titan's plumes and the acid spit target someone at random other than the main tank unless too many people are dead. (Titan targets, I believe, 5 people, no matter what, so if 3 people are dead the main tank is going to be hit.)

The twisters target people randomly and it's part of the encounter.

ADS also targets people randomly with his gravity wells, because I've gotten hit with it as current tank quite often.

Doesn't mean it's automatically not part of the encounter.

We tried quite a number of them between dealing with a few new bugs that came with this patch. (Seriously this fight is a shit show of testing) Even hit up the most outlandish but had minimal success. Your suggestion had about the same success rate and simply running in a straight line unfortunately.

I can't imagine there's not a whole lot left to try thats not in the realm of obscure and terrible design. Hard to tell if anyone is still really even attempting Turn5 at this point though. Most guilds that were haven't posted anything in several weeks, so the data is lacking on the amount of new strategies that have been tested. But with every ability in her kit being bugged in some way, it's really starting to look like the CM/gold/forumdoods post is nothing but a misinformed lie. Even having said that though it's possible still that we've all missed something silly, but at this point a lot of people, I feel, just don't even care. The hardcore raiding of this game will pretty much die out soon.

what do we do in the "Snake Phase - Asclepius & Hygieia" those 2 small snakes(Hygieia) it doesnt die...
we're always wiped on Twitania's Dive on that phase :(

It's a new bug that cropped up after this last patch. Simply don't stun the snakes passed 50% to avoid it.

You have to move 2 steps to the left of the center Circle in twister, TWO STEPS it literally does damage in a spiral so moving just out of the center on cast but not moving all the way out will mean u survive. YW

This comes from who exactly? A lvl 37 monk that has never seen the fight? May be believable if you were giving tips and in a high end guild, but you come here saying a strat you thought up and want people to believe is the right one when you yourself have never experienced the fight. Don't try and say you saw it in a video either when I can guarantee any high end guild that streams would have shut down their stream the instant they found a working strat just so they could prevent others from trying it.

Strategy: Don't Poo in Your Own Nest (Twintania)
Criteria: Kite each additional enemy into a Neurolink as they spawn (or once the second one spawns). This may immobilize the additional enemy, consume the Neurolink, transform the Neurolink, or give some sort of buff or debuff. Alternatively, each Neurolink or additional enemy may represent a Twister.

So.. Has anyone ran into a twister land mine to confirm its actually a twister? Can you jump over a land mine?

I can confirm running into one will cause it to explode. That being said it did not explode immediately. It took about half a second from when I stepped onto it for it to explode.

I can confirm it's a land mine, I'm not sure if you can specifically jump back over it.

so ummm... what's the secret for twisters?

I hear it is two-step strafe to left or right. I am nowhere near that content but this is what I hear.

Total shot in the dark, but has anyone tried filling out their inventory and armory chest? Maybe you'll weigh yourself down to the point that you can't be lifted up by the Twisters.

yeah I saw... can this be doable with 250 ping?

EDIT: is it possible to make a one button macro for this? to press 1 button and your character would automatically do the twister trick?

Not with the in-game macro tools. It's completely possible to do with external macro tools, freely available on the internet, but I believe external macros are against ToS.

As for ping, it sounds like half the raid group was non-NA and 2/4 of those players were using Battleping. The other two survived twisters without it.
