You have 2 50s, (Unless you got the last two levels) But here's the shocking part,
They're all DPS Classes... I'm noticing that trend here...

It offers something new if you Tank or Heal... just say'n.
Been about a year, I think, and I'm still trying to fathom how can somebody be this big of a fanboy, even when faced with all the BS this game is now full of. Starlord, are you even reading what you're posting? Your own "advice"? You yourself are admitting that this game is extremely short on content, to the point where you had to make a new character in order to not run into the endgame brick wall, and you're still blindly defending the game even when it takes contradicting yourself in your posts? Are you serious, man?
I am not an altwhore, my character is the same and these classes have story in them, my character is good at everything and I like the story behind the classes (since its the same character).Quote:
As explained in a post right above yours, leveling additional classes is *not* content for the many players who prefer to focus on a single class. You are clearly an altwhore, and that's fine, too, but don't tell me that because I don't play like you do I'm wrong. Obtuse to the max.
You say that you dont feel connected to your character and then you ignore the story of your character hmhmhm....
So you will feel connected because you will spam AK more if the caps are lifted?
Do you know how else will you feel connected?
Max out you chocobo and get i70 HQ craftable gear with 5 materia on each piece, all that crafted by yourself.
Try do that in a week.
Look, I get it. You enjoy leveling alts. Good for you.
Some people like to focus on endgame though, and endgame in XIV is pretty much garbage outside Coil. That is what this thread is more or less about, given that it is garbage because of the weekly caps. They could have done something nice with the endgame we currently have with very little effort, instead they made it so you can cap Mythology in less than five hours... That is my main complaint to be honest, for a weekly cap it is insanely easy to cap... The lack of variety is another thing, but they could easily have fixed that with some smarter planning of content;
Do Wanderer's Palace and Amdapor Keep and instead of the tomestones you currently get, you unlock a fight which instead drops the Mythology tomestones... There... More than doubled the amount of time it takes to cap Mythology, which means I'm not bored all week, and you get some variety since you're doing the multiple pieces of content for the same results. Instead of eight runs of Amdapor, its Amdapor > Wanderer's Palace > Boss > Amdapor > etc.
Heck, they could just halve the Mythology rewards and I'd be slightly happier. It is all still a fairly lazy way to pace content, but at least it wouldn't take two or three days to complete a weekly cap...
Never posted in the 1.0 forums, fairly sure you're thinking of beta.
This is not a "play my way or youre wrong"
I am trying to remind you of the game's content that you ignore deliberately thus making you come in these forums and complain by saying, "You know what? I want the limits lifted because I want to (PLAY MY WAY AND Square enix IS WRONG!)"
Theres is content here, go check it out.
Short on "End-game" not the game as a whole.
Also, this is a NEW game, and it should be treated as such.
YES THERE IS PROBLEMS WITH THIS GAME, I am not denying that. As far as leveling content is concerned ( in which I am currently still doing thank you), YES IT DOES NEED TWEAKING/ADJUSTMENTS, maybe another way or 2 to level up! Currently, I'm not thirsting for content. Yes there NEEDS to have more content sure, but I'm not going to sit here and lie to myself when I'm playing perfectly fine and happy on how I am progressing.
I started over BECAUSE I had all 50's and I KNEW end-game no matter how confident they are about it, would still be subpar BECAUSE it's a launch.
1-49 has CONTENT in it too, if I didn't make a new character, I would never have been able to experience it.
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...acter/1705013/
New Character still no 50's.
WeEkLy CaPs, aM i DoInG iT RiGhT ?
Jesus Christ... Is it really this hard for some people to understand that not everyone enjoys every single piece of content?
People are bored with endgame, pointing out non-endgame things isn't helpful or constructive in the slightest... If we were eating at a fancy restaurant and they served pure horseshit, would you go "Well you could always play tag instead!"? No. You sat down to eat a meal. You want to eat that meal. Instead you get horseshit and you'd be annoyed by that. Just because there are any number of other things you could be doing instead of being annoyed at the restaurant does not change the fact that the restaurant just served horseshit... If they offer to replace your meal in a few moments, that probably isn't going fix your immediate displeasure either, so stop saying "Wait for 2.1!", because this is what I am doing...
Leveling new classes is not content. Content is content. There is no new content to encounter after you've reached 50 for the first time, and in fact you can't even re-experience the content in this game unless you create a new character entirely, not level a new class on the same character. Fate grinding =/= content. So please, do remind me what 'content' I'm missing out on? I've completed the story, I've done every quest, I've done every dungeon, and now I'm fighting to tear down the gate to i90 gear.
Of course not, and it's understandable. But you also have to remember that these things take TIME and people to Develop them to get what your after. All I and some people were doing were merely telling you, while you wait you "could" do X thing. If not you can unsub and wait for the things you desire.
Edit: Also, You don't like leveling other classes, that's fine too, You act like I have a problem with that when I don't. I am only telling you and other people that they do exist and you can do them if you want. I am no way telling you to do what I'm doing, play how you want to play, if the game doesn't have what you want, simply leave unsub and wait for thing you are looking forward too before resubbing.
Content will come, this is a new game its not out for 8 years, if you are impatient and dont know what to do we are offering you stuff to do.
Farming mythology IS NOT the only thing this game has to offer.
If you are ignoring content then nothing can be done.
Wait for Crystal tower, pvp and housing.
Content will come, mythology caps lifted will fix NOTHING, it will make things worse.
You have done nothing of the things I pointed to you.
Is your chocobo companion maxed?
Have you seen every story of every class?
Have you tried to craft your i70 gear and meld 5 materia on them?
Thats content ignored.
Why do you want to reexperience the main story with the same character anyway? Youre the one who dislikes alts...
They don't understand it because they are daft, and likely very casual, therefore endgame means nothing to them. You must level every DoW, DoM, DoH and DoL to 50 craft full 2* sets for all of them, inspect every inch of every zone, learn how to play the ffxiv theme song on at least 5 instruments, finish all luminary achievements, be able to paint all ffxiv landscapes from memory and so much more or you are simply ignoring content! Don't you get it!
Having every class to 50 is end game, also crafting the best gear in game is end game, maxing out you choco comanion is end game as well.
Insulting will get you nowhere, youre still ignoring content.
Learn to play
You have my like once more.
The game is new and offers a lot to do at end game for a new game, more will come, but lifting myth caps will fix nothing.
It will make the game worse and more repeatable than ever.
After all mor eend game WILL be added if you give them some time.
All the problems this game have right now come from people that want everything without restrictions, like leveling a class in a day.
The same people would have gone nutts if it took you 6 months to level a character like in the old days.
I doubt that you will see it but I have reached my daily limit and cannot post more.Quote:
While I dont agree that those things are end game, I will bit the apple. Now for those of us who have all that done what now. I mean after capping myth for the week and doing coil run there really isnt anything left to do.
The answer is, do something else with your life, youre playing this game too much.
Thanks, but we're not five. We know the other classes are there already.
You want to know what we're doing right now by complaining about the current state of endgame? We're going "Hey, Square! This? You see this? This wont do in the future. Make sure it doesn't happen again.". Why are we doing this? Because we actually enjoy the game and want to keep playing. If they keep serving horseshit instead though, that wont be happening, and that will be a shame.
I'd much rather Square go "People weren't too happy about those weekly caps... Lets do something differently...", than have them go "Nobody seemed to mind those weekly caps, lets just do more of that for future content!".
I think many players are too hung up on the idea that everything should be done on a single character. Yes, I get that was the design intent for the game, but the OP and others here have a valid point: the current content does not cater to that design in all ways.
For myself, I just leveled up a second character on the same server. My reasons for starting a secondary character in the first place were not driven by myth caps, but because I was bored and needed something else to do in the game outside of pointless token grinding between raid nights. I abhor FATE grinding and leveling a character to 50 purely through that method would have only made me quit faster, so I started a secondary character.
That said, I still put thought into the pros and cons before I did this. My main is a tank, and my alt was to be a bard, so I'm not really losing any significant time having to level subclasses for cross-class skills. I keep my crafting focused on my main, so there's no need for me to bother with those on the new character. Any philosophy tokens I get on my main, I just trade in for crafting items to make ilvl 70 crafting gear, so my playtime capping myth still goes towards gearing my new character.
It's an entirely viable method in the current context of the game, and not being capped to one character's myth tokens is just an added bonus in my case. I can fully understand why the current myth cap is in place, and can see them making changes to it in the future, but I'm sure that's hingent upon their design decisions for new content, so there's no use speculating what direction they might decide to go with it.
If you're determined to get the most of your characters for now, however, just roll a second one. The reasons for NOT doing so are not nearly as dire as everyone makes them out to be. And if they ever do make game changes that reverse this, just be prepared to deal with it. It might be disappointing, but for me, I've enjoyed my time in game more going this route, and if that ceases to be the case, I'll simply adjust once again according to my preferred play style.

Well like I said in previous post alot of people have leveled all classes all crafts all gatherings done all mission involved got pretty much every relic.
But even after you do all of this the end result is very low. While the next update will give crafters and gathers a something to do until the rmt take over the market again at the moment its almost pointless to level a gathering or crafting class. Rmt will beat you at every point an where they dont regular players trying to make an honest living will lol ><. This is from someone who has them all at 50 with achievement/quest items and 5-meld hq sets for each.
The cap on dungeons should be removed in my opinion. But I also think all dungeons should have a level 50 counterpart. I think there should be various sets of gear to obtain not just af2. I also think there should be more stats like 1.0 had. The generalization of stats makes it very hard to make multiple sets of gear available to the players.
Most people agree there are problems with end game. However, your suggestion about removing mythology caps is not a good solution to dealing with the problem. I think you are just trying to change the conversation from "I want myth items faster" to "end game is lacking" to hide your intial intent of wanting mythiology items faster.
I never actually suggested removing the Mythology cap, go back and read what I actually did suggest.
No one would be complaining about caps if there were actually many things to do at 50.
Then you should stop playing the game for 10 hours a day, obviously. And while you're at it, if you don't like the current content, unsubscribe, because I'm pretty sure Yoshida wasn't after subscribers when he relaunched this title!
#Warning, this post may contain dangerous levels of sarcasm.#
I agree that the weekly cap sucks but honestly if it is that big of a deal to you just make a second character. This will allow you to gear 2 jobs and run coil on both of them. Obviously not the most ideal solution, but if you play 10 hours a day it's not a big deal.
I think if all the items purchased with myth tomes were BoP and class/job specific, they could allow a cap for each job where they only give specific types of tokens for that job's pieces. That seems like a fair compromise to me. So for instace... you could get X number of "paladin" myth tomes each week for paladin items, X WHM tokens for WHM items, but you couldn't turn in WHM tokens to receive anything else except WHM items.
If they let you pool all of your myth tokens into one job, that would make having alts a signifcant advantage for gearing up faster and certainly cause more people to burnout quickly.
First I don't believe in selling content that can only be completed by a group(part of a FC who helps people free of charge)
Second im almost maxed in gil so no need to sell runs.
Thrid I do play other games and sorry but what does this have to do with other games??
The game has inherent problems with the structure check my previous post.
I don't devour content lol, but come on really tell me what your savoring cause I want a taste.
All jokes aside the end game is faced with a major issues that are evident in the myth and coil caps.
There simply is not enough content for the users, the simple way to combat this is to put up content caps.
You have burn partys that can get you several 50's a week. When you have systems in place that power level the players then don't have anything for them to do once they hit that cap.
Or the only thing they have to do is limited how can you possibly keep subs?
Agreed. It's kinda funny, really.
Here, I know that using FFXI to exemplify anything on these boards is borderline criminal, but I'll do it anyway.
I played that game for almost 7 years. Seven. That's a lot of time for one game. Way, way longer than any game has ever been able to hold my attention for (besides my favorite games of all time maybe).
For the majority of that time, about 6 years, iirc, I only had 3 jobs at level 75, among which I devoted 90% of my in-game time and effort to one in particular. At no point in all those years did I ever feel like I had ran out of stuff to do, ever. By the time I quit I was among the most badass MNKs in my server, but it took me that long, and I still felt like I had a lot more to do (and then abyssea came out, but that's beside the point).
And you know, it's not like the devs kept pumping out new endgame content all the time to keep the player base entertained in that game, not at all. In fact, new endgame content usually came out only with a new expansion. The thing is that each piece of content, from the newest to the oldest, was always kept relevant, even lower level stuff such as BCNMs and ENMs were done regularly by people with multiple 75s for a chance at winning rare and expensive spell scrolls or crafting materials. That is progression done right.
In this game, though? Everything, every single thing in the game is replaced by the next best thing. It happens to items/gear, and it obviously happens to content. In the end everything is reduced to the latest or the highest level thing available, no matter how much content preceded it. No exceptions. Because of that, people will always be running out of content eventually, because, no matter how good the developers are, they will never be able to pump out content any faster than the players will be clearing it, so, at least for a couple of months or so, they'll be stuck with content that is already "old".
Personally, this is the part of the "standard" MMO model that I find the most abso-fucking-lutely retarded, as it will always make the game "clearable" every other couple of months, increase development costs due to the fact that devs need to throw the players another bone fast, and, since they won't be able to throw it at them fast enough, create a situation where a lot of players will grow bored of the game.
Eh, aaanyway... /endrant
Yeah, this is a "new", 3-year-old game. Not our fault that the devs decided to make a ton of unnecessary changes and simply trash all that they had done up to this point. And in any case, the game's age matters little as long as they keep going with this same "standard" progression model. What will happen as time goes on is that they'll introduce new content, that content will grow old, players will be stuck again, new content will come out a couple of months later, and the cycle goes on. And all the stuff that we're doing nowadays? It'll most likely be as worthless as Sastasha now is.
I think the cap should stay..but they simply need more content. My FC and I are sadly bored because we have done nearly everything...
For me it is not a matter of rushing, I don't rush anything..I go at my own pace and can accomplish quite a lot in a little of time on this game. I have a really solid group and we can do team work, etc.
Yoshida said to us that we will no longer be able to EXP in PT and that leveling is no longer meant to be a big aspect of the game..and instead end game would be everything. Well I am sorry there is not that much atm. Not saying there has to be at this very second, most MMO that come out don't have that much content to start with..but why make CC, AV, DD not end game? That alone would give us a few more instances to do and rotate around instead of AK AK AK AK BC BC etc....
Mythos cap is a way to force people to continue paying month to month. If I unsub and wait until more content is released with 2.1 or 2.2 to resub and there is still a 300 mythos cap, then I missed out on a great deal of mythos. If there is no cap, I can unsub and resub freely and won't have a limit to how fast I can catch up.
Basically the only reason I don't unsub is because I don't want to be out 300 mythos/week until I resub when they add more content because IMO the endgame is incomplete.
