class =/= jobs
so any restrictions that classes have such as only being able to use 1 weapon should not effect jobs. Jobs are defined roles that is not restricted to your weapon but to the skills you have to use.

To be honest yoshi-p said he would never do a charcter wipe. Not a job wipe and give you back your exp/sp. You would still have your gear, your completed quests. Your charcter would still be there...just be a different job/class. But yeah I susupport carpe's thread. Been very vocal o n there lol ^^;
i think the job system is going to replace the physical rank system somehow. i think they should take more emphasis off class rank and move it more towards your job rank so that way everything cons to ur job level and having high class ranks just makes it easier to kill things around your job level.
That isn't true. the Terminology is older then MMO's. so is the "Trinity" though in FF's its never been a true trinity. Its always a Mix of 6 roles.
Tank, DD, Status, Healer, Elemental, Suberter.
Which Magically is exactly what the first 6 jobs are as well.
War, Monk, Red Mage, White Mage, Black Mage, Thief.
Just depending on how many character slots you mixed them up and sometimes fit two of those 6 on one character.
Tank/DD, Healer/Status, Subverter/Elemental, Elemental/Status
Also Just about Every Final Fantasy not all but most, Have this ability called Cover. Its a neat ability. It makes one character jump in front of another and defend it. Much like a Tank would.
Sorry I don't think I made myself clear. I meant if they completely got rid of the current system so CON, THM, MRD would be no more. Then replace them with traditional classes now they would have to refund you your total SP and let you spend it on the new classes. That was just answering someone who was wonderin how they could do something like that without a character wipe.
