Will jobs are skill trees so i would say what there doing make 100% sense. In many skill trees games to play other job you pretty much have to make other char. But in FFXIV you can play all jobs within char which i see the issue we having here. But at the end we have to remember the jobs are skill tree system and they be a time where you have to say play A or B or maybe even C job within this class.
This is almost exactly my thought. While in the long run I doubt it will make a huge difference compared to gear's contribution and people who "gimp" themselves in these point allocations will still be capable, the very principle of it runs directly counter to the stated concept of the game of playing everything from just one character just as effectively as you could by having multiple characters. There shouldn't be a need to choose one over the other given this design spec, no matter how minor it is.
If you look at jobs as talent trees (which they basically are), it makes a lot more sense.. In games with a talent tree you can't pick every ability/perk from every tree either.. You can still play all classes on a single character, you just need to decide what you want to specialise as.
I thought it was said you could re-spec after a day or so? Presumably after getting ahold of a Keeper's Hymn, or similar item?
Thank you for the clarification, Hvinire.
Just on the face of it, this doesn't sound like a good idea to me. However, considering I haven't had a chance to play either Summoner or Scholar yet, I'd like to wait and see how things pan out before passing judgement.
If this means that you will only be able to play endgame content such as Labyrinth of Bahamut as either Summoner or Scholar (but not both), I don't think I'll like it. Both Summoner and Scholar sound appealing to me, and I'd like to be able to contribute effectively to my party's success in either role.
Honestly, though, if you can be an effective Summoner and Scholar by splitting your attribute points down the middle between INT and MND, I'd be OK with it. I guess it just depends on how the game plays.
Thank you again for the info!
 Maybe not but it justifies actual players who take pride in their chosen path. They can outweigh their efforts and dedication to those who just want to be a "Jack-of-Alls".
;)
I like this approach to classes that split to two different jobs. Well done Yoshi-P! I'm sure there's also a resolve to dedicating another job within that class and you would want to re-allocate your stats to be used at your full potential.
To those that whine about being "Forced to chose" a job: First of all, nobody's being forced in to anything, like I'm not being force to choose what job to tank on, either Paladin or Warrior (two diff classes but same principle). I play how I want with the options I'm given.
Disclaimer: I read the fact that SMN gets cleric stance somewhere else, I don't remember whether or not this was released information yet, so it may be untrue.
Actually building a full mind build on smn might be interesting considering they get cleric stance. If you can increase your base mind high enough so that your base int and base mind are relatively close, then you can gear full mind and pop cleric stance and obtain clerics stances magic damage+. Although I don't know if cleric stance's buff only works on elemental magic or if summoning is counted. Considering how simplified this game has become, I wouldn't doubt that it would work. Meh, who knows, just a thought.
Q41: I heard that you can reallocate your attribute points, but will this be something you can do easily multiple times?
A41: It won’t be something you can do so easily. For example, it’s not like you will be able to allocate them so today you can challenge the Great Labyrinth of Bahamut as scholar, and tomorrow allocate them so you can go as summoner. (24)Matt "Bayohne" Hilton - Community Team
seemed pretty clear to me. for yoshi's example: if DRK comes through GLD as a main class. today i play as PLD in the great labyrinth of bahamut, tomorrow allocate them so i can go as DRK. no skin off my back if all my stats are vit/mnd. i'll just reroll tomorrow full str and play DRK. or w/e drks main stat happens to be.
