Come on man, we all know its going to be the latter. This is SE we are dealing with, you know it to be true.

in between "3 dungeons run and get all drops" and "hundred dungeons runs and get zero drops" there is a wide range of solutions, which can be finely tuned by master yoshiP.
I'm sorry I've yet to play even a Korean game that takes that long to complete a set of gear -- You're so quick to exaggerate things and tell others to go away which doesn't make you look any better.
Indeed, basically finding a happy medium, but you have too many people on one side that want one thing lol.
Though to be fair, you're discussing an extreme as well. Who's to say that you'll do a dungeon a few times and never touch it again with the token system? They can balance the amount of tokens given and whatnot so that you still have to put in a good deal of effort to get the drop. Just like with Garuda, if you're not all passing to one person, you have to win 20 times to get a weapon from tokens. I feel like if you beat Garuda 20 times, it's fair to award you with ONE weapon if nothing else. The same goes for dungeons. If you run a dungeon 20+ times successfully, you've proven you're skillful enough to do it (or your group is) so you should be given something at least.
Anyone else notice that Jennestia and Elexia are the same person and is attempting to double team baxter with dummy accounts within 3min of each others posting? (pro tip check both their websites)

Agreed. A Token reward to players not gettng a drop + appropriate lock out timers in conjunction with a correct token price per piece of gear can easily keep content relevant for a long time.
For example:
Lockout timer prevents you from doing CC/AV more than 4 times per week. You get 1 token per run, 4 tokens per week. One piece of Dimlight cost 20 tokens. Cost in time per token bought Dimlight piece = 5 weeks at the rate of 4 runs per week. If runs take 1 hour to complete that's 20 hours per Dimlight piece using tokens alone, over a 5 week period. Full Dimlight purchased via tokens would take 5 weeks x 5 pieces = 25 weeks / 4 weeks per month = 6 months 1 week. And that doesn't even take into account the odds of you getting a boss dropped Darklight piece effectively reducing hte time spent farming tokens.
The question at hand is: do you get rewarded a token for using AND losing one of your three weekly Need rolls on an item OR does anyone not obtaining one of the 2-3 rare boss dropped items get rewarded a token regardless of his or her use of the Looting system?
Protip: We do dual commentaries called Let's Plays and are in the same event linkshell in XI and XIV.
@Arcell:
YoshiP said you will not be spamming content in ARR, so unless they have a very different definition of "spamming", it shouldn't take too long to get gear.
If you're not spamming content, how do you come to the conclusion that it won't take long? We know nothing of the actual amount of tokens over time needed to get things. No one can say one way or the other at this point. All I'm saying is that there is a way for it to be balanced and take a good amount of time. If SE chooses to go that route, content would stay relevant for some time.
