The fact the small house I won in the GOBLET yesterday had 231 bids on it does seem to show that people at least aren’t abandoning housing
You guys don’t understand. Remember that one time about 15 years ago with that one patch that was bad? And then that one other time ten years ago with that other game that no one plays? Blizzard is TOTALLY finished. FFXIV has over 30 million players while WoW has under one million. We are NOT going back. Their game is cartoony and I can’t even install my fart mods.
cant agree to that. I can see the point with the cartoon style yes i had issues with it. But not good to new players hell no thats straight up a lie. I never touched wow and people been always helpfull to me explained what i need to be better and how mechanics work where the shortcuts are etc. recently i thought i give raiding a try and just opened a grp in the wow pf without thinking like you do in 14. We stepped in everything was good. The first issue happened when somebody asked if i know how to raidlead and i answered honestly dunno first time. So he asked for assistent raid lead which is an option and helped me to sort partys and understand the system. Thats far away from toxic. i another run of raids i got dmed from a party member who got a weapon for my class that he mistakenly rolled on it and if i want to have it. I asked how much gold he wants because i expected smth like that and the response was "dahell nothing its useless for me but will help you" where is this toxic ? while events i already got some mounts gifted just because people dropped it and already had it. On horde side i met a person who just gifted me 15 toys randomly without a text. btw im playing male characters before you come with stuff like are you haveing slut glam. The only time i encountered toxicity was when i was to slow as tank and this was very rare... so please i dont know what you have done to get toxic comments but this is not normal day out there. this is just a quote people use.
WoW was always running laps around XIV, it's just that there was a time where planets aligned and WoW had its worst expansion while XIV had its best one.
For a long time, WoW had better class identities, mythic+, better transmog and took more risks with the expansions. Their healers have thing to do despite their tanks having more tools to heal.
Wether it worked or not, they had Legionnaries that really felt like increases your character power level, Dragonflight new flight mode that added a racing mini-game. XIV mini game are mostly "click on this spot at this specific time".
Did you know that Druids could complete special quests and unlock alternative forms? That beasts forms also depends on yourr ace? Warlocks get to customize their demons?
But we can't have more egi-glam or customize Automaton Queen/Living Shadow?
Dawntrail barely changed anything compared to Endwalker, which already barely changed anything compared to Shadowbringer. We've been eating the same slop for 3 expansions now.
Everytime we get something new it's super sanitized, boring and not rewarding. Deep-dungeon are one of the biggest culprit, they feel too close to each other.
They have definitely more competitive activities in place that has player clash with each other, even verbally - When the rewards hinge on finishing a M+ dungeon run within time, or winning a PvP match.
The lower and middle 'bracket' of those are a wild west of player competence, and only a few can ruin it for many. So naturally, folks are getting loud against each other when things go awry. And they do that often.
When it comes to New Players, however, WoW is a very unfriendly environment for them due to the lack of any systems in place for guidance and explanations.
Sure, I can have it all figured out when I check Icyveins and Wowhead along with the installation of add-ons - But that should be Blizzard's job in game, not some player.
people speak from platitudes and not from real experiences. The truth is that if they played WoW for a decent enough amount of time they would realise how many things they repeat from hearsay are totally untrue, but why have experiences when you can repeat what is said on reddit?
I'd harder say WoW is running laps around FFXIV with housing when we've had housing for 11 years, while WoW has been waiting 20 and it isn't even out yet.
Does FFXIV need to up their game with housing upon WoW's release? Probably. We'd all love to see it.
wait till wow figures out a way to add a quick change alt option like our job change and you can just switch class alts there like a job here.
Surely not. And don't get me wrong: IMO 14's implementation of housing is so bad, that I decided there is no housing in 14 - just to prevent further frustration.
But comparing one company's implementation of housing with another company's press realease about how great their housing will be... is simply disingenuous. Especially when I know first hand what 90% of nuBlizz' press releases are worth - nothing.
