XIV in a nutshell, if you think about it. It took them over a decade to create a blacklist system that STILL isn't anywhere near as effective as the blacklists in other decade old games. Their glamour system is literally the worst in the genre, when WoW's system absolutely obliterates it, and even SWTOR's method of using armor as shells to put in your raw stats is still better. Their net code is still abysmal. Their "trust system" was done better 20 years ago in FFXI of all things.Quote:

They even lose to XI in terms of their job system. XI's job system is extremely rewarding to level multiple jobs and turn them into a character all your own. Here, they had to abandon their Cross Class system, because putting in effort to fix it was harder than just obliterating it.
It's really pathetic seeing a decade of decisions stack on each other like this, especially after all the promises they've been making us for years that they had to backpedal on. Demolition is a huge one. But we were also promised that housing for individuals would be separate from FCs, and look at how that turned out. They told us they'd work on Viera and Hrothgar, and they're still a dumpster fire. They're even halfassing other races now. Chopping off Miqo'te and Au'ra tails, removing the ears from Elezen and Lalafell.
The only comparison I can make to putting in this amount of minimal effort into something that literally prints money, is the practices of EA... And that's a TERRIBLE comparison to be making.
They should pause houses demolition for a time

At the very least, stop putting a 1 month grace period for item retrieval. I would rest a lot easier about auto-demolition (I own a small house). And drop the timer on small houses, because there still are a lot of small houses that haven't been bought and, while I'm happy with my small Mist house, I can see why people wouldn't want to waste millions of gil on a house very limited in item capacity that is still subject to demolition timer. There is no sense in putting the timer on a type of house that's still available for people who want it.
Not everyone is planning to stop playing the game indefinitely and most would prefer if their houses remain there when they return. Specially if it's a house in high demand and high scarcity (which is pretty much all M and L houses). And it's not necessary to be subbed every month. With proper timing, you can keep the house for almost 4 mounts with one month.Quote:

As someone who actually owns a house, I'm personally glad for the demolition timer. The only thing I wish is that it were an even 60 or 90 days so it aligned with pay periods instead of it being 45 days. It would be amazing if you didn't have to maintain a sub at all to maintain a house, but if you guys have been around long enough to remember the before times, in the long-long ago, you'd know why that doesn't work with the current way the wards are designed.
They really should just bite the bullet and put us on instanced housing since the original purpose of the wards died a long time ago, but it is what it is I guess. -

You could take any position in existence on this game and you will be "far from alone" on it just by virtue of basic statistics. New expansion releases are when there's a population spike. That would mean it makes the least sense to pause housing demolitions then. You have the most people potentially looking for plots and the least number of plot-owners likely not being actively subbed. Why would you pause it then?Quote:

There was practically no customization outside of very specific unique preset things you could select, and people just sat in them while waiting to queue for things. I'm not sure how practical it would be to search things back in time, but if you check out what people were saying about garrisons, it was that it wasn't anything like actual housing that players had been clamoring for. FFXIV itself allows you to do almost infinitely more with their houses, while garrisons would be the equivalent of IS in terms of what you could actually do with them.Quote:
