@Devs: PLD/GLD and poor AoE enmity management. Intentional design choice?

Whirlwind has a recast time of 80 seconds. Steel Cyclone damage isn't that great if you don't get consistently pounded on with Rampage buff up. Warrior's tp generation is weak. When their skill is ready then it doesn't mean they'll have tp to use it.

Dragoon has Legsweep (30sec, equal to Steel Cyclone) Doomspike (60sec) Ring of Talons (60sec) Dragon Dive (15min, I know too long) and Keen Flurry to nullify a weaponskill cooldown every 90 sec. Plus so much tp you'll be ws'ing more than you'll be auto attacking.

I'd willingly accept Holy Succor if it was a smart heal. Even then, I'd still try to push it down the priority list because as I said, the tank has other things to worry about.

Cover's design and the AF bonus attached to it are flawed.There's plenty you could do with Cover that would make it useful without going to the ridiculous lengths the current design does. Then it'd be a matter of changing the AF body effect to something else.

Well, that's actually what I'm hoping Red Mage is designed around, as it clearly fits them well.

What I was getting at with the exclusion of Holy Knights is that you'd need a massive change in not only PLD but also how the armoury system works as well as the goals the devs have for each class. And if PLD could DPS using Holy Swordskills, I would just step out of the tank discussion and join groups as DPS instead.

PLD is a very good single Target Tank.
Making it at least half decent for multiple mobs would be a great addtion.

You do know that Aegis Boon lasts for exactly one hit, right, Xero?

Hmmmm. Not sure if it was glitched for me then, but it would last for 20 seconds and replenish HP for each block, which on small mobs was a lot. (This was using PLD)
TBH, I've mostly been fighting NM Bosses lately so I haven't checked. I just assumed that's how it worked.

Aegis Boon use to work that way, block for the full duration but would only give back say 15-20 hp per block. Even I'll admit that was a bit OP back in the day when you could fully block all physical damage for the duration of that buff, and Deflection. This was all Pre-Batraal days though, and with the changes to mob attacks so that we can now block more (look at Ifrit and beyond) this would completely break the game in terms of which tank to take. At level 50 I knew a few LS's taking on stuff 80+, all you had to do was take 2 GLA's able to rip hate off each other and rotate Aegis Boon/Deflection.

We do need something added to our arsenal of AoE threat/damage. We have the massive cooldowns, but give us something like Overpower, even if it only does 3x the damage that wardrums does on a primal. Something we can spam would give us the feeling we're actually helping, instead of just standing around waiting for stuff to die even if the damage is horribly low (but not too low).

I actually like these suggestions here... However we wouldn't want Paladin considered OP... Warrior can take that title, I like a challenge :D

Flash, War Drum, Cover: 20 sec recast on the first 2, no need to block to wardrum, lower recast on cover. I would like these.

The best thing a paladin could do vs a warrior in an AOE situation is throw a cover on them, but the cooldown is so damn long ><

I've been holding aoe hate on PLD fairly well in skirmish, so it certainly can be done. And, that's with a WAR in the group.

The only way I can hold AOE hate in Skirmish is if the team has a plan.
There's no way I can complete against BLM or MNK, plus holding the main NM (i.e. Mosshorn)
But it's definately possible to grab AOE hate and keep it as long as everyone is attacking the main mob I"m full tanking.

If you're doing Turtle Island at all, the only way I found to keep hate on the Golem, is with self heals. Otherwise the WHM just pulls him right off. I think he resets hate instantly for any cures.
