The loophole I tlked about on the first page would be the honor system. If they zerg, they would be able to keep their honor more or less stable and reasonably high. Meaning, they could just "assist" while spawn camping and get away withm it.

Well I appreciate the additional information, that was indeed how Templar played at release and for a few years later, but considerable changes were made to the retail version over the years.
However, I don't see how that has anything to do with the homogenization in FFXIV, the player segments are very different, the job design with the ability to have multiple alts on one character is different, there are no skill trees here (stigmas), the whole core game vision is different.
Just saying that I appreciate classes being different even if they are not super optimal at every scenario. And right now the XIV PvP classes have distinct identities, so I wouldn't want them to get rebalanced and reworked to a point where they all feel the same just so any job can 1v1 in PVP well. I apologize if I didn't make that connection in the argument well.
so, the wilderness basically.
in a game like osrs it works, but its actually polarizing for the community because if u dont pk u dont get much respect or loot.
introducing a deadman mode for 14 i couldnt see it working, we already saw ppl cheat for osrs deadman by hiding and eating fish
i also think the game is more about teamwork and co-op than pvp tbh. i dont think they want to send that message otherwise
but frontline isnt balanced....
How is the statement malicious? You brought up how you reach crystal in many seasons and I'm asking if you're trying to say that you're better than me so your opinion carries more weight? If you're not doing that, then I apologise, there are people who will flex their own achievements to make their opinions seem stronger. That said, your rank is completely irrelevant since I'm pointing out that MNK has a kit that specialises in single target takedowns (which you have not disproven by saying you don't die to a MNK, I don't either, many others do).
As for friendly fire. OP is asking for FFA. Do you really think they'll let you form parties in FFA PvP? They already won't let you play casual CC with friends because they're worried about pre-mades. If people do choose to roam in groups to hit people not part of their group, they will succumb to friendly fire because so many of our buttons are AoE.
This game's delayed unresponsive nature always makes me wonder how anyone can enjoy its pvp. At least since PvE is scripted, the insane snapshotting kinda works, but in an environment where you'd want to be able to react quickly it just feels awful imo. If you haven't tried it yet, go up to a friend in game and ask them to screenshare what they see on their end. Then on your screen, move forward a little bit. If you pvp this won't surprise you at all, but anyone else reading this will be surprised to find that it takes you a few seconds to move similarly on your friend's screen. There's like, a really nasty delay on everything in this game. You see it a lot in pve when you're running away with an aoe but someone else is also running on top of you with that same aoe and it feels like they're chasing you. Well, they're not. On their screen, it looks like you're chasing them. Because of the delay.
All this is to say, a big instanced world pvp zone would be a laggy messy shitstorm and I endorse it 100% just because of how stupid it would be.
I doubt that Square would make a "big instanced world pvp zone ". They already adjust for the number of players when a minor patch releases by creating multiple zones, I would expect that IF they did decide to create a PVP zone it would have multiple instances (like Bojza) and be limited to the number of participants- maybe 100 (just a guess), in order to reduce lag.
Frontlines is a team based match though, even a mediocre player like myself knows their respective roles. Each job is "balanced" around the role they provide. Supports support from the backline, we don't rush into the frontline to get mauled by a GNB or DRG. The OP mentioned FFA, as in everyone for themselves. Take a DRG and a SCH into Wolves' Den and start a 1v1, who's going to win?
The idea seems fun, but I would like to know what kind of job changes the OP is considering so that the whole match doesn't devolve into the 1v1 melee jobs being the only ones viable?
Ehh, PvP community is small already, something like this would die faster than criterion. So unless they tie something insane like raid equivalent gear or some ungodly glam (of which they'd get a ton of flak for) most would just avoid it.
