You pay a monthly fee, as do dozens of others. Sometimes more if there’s a patch. That’s a lot of money. It might not be illegal but it’s definitely scummy. The model also exists in the game already, literally just zone into e10 litany. It’s exactly the kind of lazy “what’s this down the side of the sofa we can fob them off with” mentality that achievement mounts tend to get.

Would you prefer they not make any additional Mogstation stuff at all, ever? And would you prefer the benefits for all players that come from Mogstation purchases not exist? To date on record, this includes about a quarter of available housing wards.


They wouldn’t be making these things if there wasn’t additional money in it. The products simply would t exist.

As a person who doesn’t purchase anything on the mogshop, but has benefited from it (hello my beachfront house!), I don’t want to buy the things, but I am glad they exist.

None of it is pay to win, so I just can’t agree that it is scummy or otherwise taking advantage of people. Even if it only took an hour to develop this specific mount, those are billable hours that could go elsewhere. Money that could go elsewhere, even outside of this game. And of note, unless they have changed their policy, those billable hours that are paid for by other Mogshop purchases.


I would call it scummy if it was something like EA did w/ those star wars lootboxes. Where certain characters took thousands to unlock, and said characters were absolutely better than stock free ones. In this, you get what? A black edgelord wolf? A mount you are gonna forget about in 6 months anyway?

It’s business, targeting the whales. It’s what many businesses do, and it pays the bills.

Yes, but in previous expansions they actually mentioned updates or future plans. BLU didn't even get so much of a peep from Endwalker's fanfest onward. They literally didn't say a single word about it until very recently.

I also don't believe that the housing wards aren't paying for themselves. How many empty spots are there and how many more subscriptions does that lock in.
