I feel the need—the need for speed!
I literally covered that point in my OP. Why do people keep responding without even reading what they are responding to?
Meld full speed.
It doesn't play the same. That's why SKS/SPS is different from other stats. Having more Crit or DH won't change the way you interact with the game apart from how big your numbers are.
Personally i'd rather the stat become more useful, i'd like for it to be viable to stack the stat as much as possible without worrying about buff windows and stuff being messed up
I like going fast ^^ but blm is like the only job that can really stack it
I agree; people would in turn be making the choice for more direct hit(which is already around 1% per meld) or a faster GCD per meld. They could even keep unique weapon stats on certain jobs like BLM where the raid drop usually has spell speed, and then in turn adjust balance on those jobs directly. As long as a BLM can still reach as fast as 2.17-2.23 GCD, which is a preferred play style for some, and even the slowest is around 2.42. In fact, there really is only a few jobs that can even utilize skill/spell speed that perhaps the problem resides in them alone.. many jobs treat any speed as a dead stat, potentially even a hindrance that can cause drift(RDM for example), and if a lot of your damage comes from oGCDs then it is completely useless..
Last tier I played mostly DRK + PLD, and while progressing I was stuck with the raid gloves(Det + SkS) for many weeks, even after clearing the tier.. when I finally was able to swap out and remove any skill speed in my gear I quickly noticed a large improvement in my output.. unfortunately abilities like Living Shadow receive nothing from SkS, and just how much damage does that one ability do?
Piety is even worse, a stat that should at the very least be like tenacity in providing a weaker determination effect.. It is a stat that has slowly become the nail in the coffin for me ever playing healer again.. on top of all the other healer issues. I said to myself that I would be willing to heal this raid tier if I could avoid having to use a crafted ring yet again and they decide to put piety on the raid drop ring(??? 145 piety ???). There are no heal checks that actually require piety, a lot of mechanics involve body checks, and one could very comfortably clear p8s2 with zero piety. I don't understand why this stat exist, I haven't seen any evidence where piety is what allowed people to get through content.. It exist to make amends for how punishing it is to die as a healer, something that no other role has to deal with.
I'd prefer if theyd stop making speed stats progressively worse like they do and did with Dark Knight starting with Shadowbringers, Paladin since Stormblood (spells...), Warrior since basically patch 5.2 onwards (60s Storms Eye lol)
If anything I want more gear diversity and options to get desirable speed gear. Or improve other stats to get closer to crit so Im not peeling my eyes out over Det-SkS or Ten-SkS gear. Materia is the most boring way to get to this.
I hate how since somewhere middle of Shadowbringers they decided to make weapons with "perfect stats only" like god forbid there is variety from Crit Det or Crit DH.
And stop designing jobs like crap, fix cap speed GCDs being unaffected by speed like how you fixed guaranteed criticals being unaffected by crit buffs and actually make jobs less focused on a billion OGCds that have zero connection to GCDs.
Sincerely, a VERY pissed Dark Knight main
Glory be to Blood Weapon Haste (Stormblood)
I really hate it, but rather than removing it, I'd rather they rework every job where it's more valuable or viable for certain playstyles. "Haste" is a buff that we used to have in HW/SB with AST Arrow cards and I wish it would return with party buffers and it always be a strict DPS gain for every job.
It'd be great if FFXIV had a real "Haste" stat like other other RPGs, where it actually reduced all CDs, rather just GCDs.
However, we only need the most basic of imaginations to already know Yoshida's response to this:
"Apologies, but we have discussed this, and our team cannot possibly handle balancing such a numerically-challenging addition to the game. All of our Excel spreadsheets would break, and the person who knows how to make new ones was already reassigned to FF16. Therefore, we have decided instead to stretch the micrometer-thin status quo of SkS/SpS for another entire expansion after this. Please understand. Thank you."
Tbf, I think the community itself would be up in arms against blanket %cooldown reduction well before the idea ever pushed past the developers' ear-protection.
...Especially if it didn't come with added banking functionality for the accelerated CDs to the degree that they're accelerated. (E.g., while your previously 1-minute CD could be used as often as every 50s, you could also hold it until the normal 60s time for a bit of added potency, just below the value given by investing in Determination directly instead.)
For all the outcry now against the "2-minute meta" (which has been here in full impact but HW, but apparently just somehow escaped people's notice on the basis of having pre-filtered/split compositions instead), we're pretty quick to condemn anything that'd make it harder to sync to raid buffs.
