When do you think they'll add cross-region data center travel? OCE is screwed!

It does help because it means there are more people to kill them faster, which when I went there, it looked like this was helping because they were taking a lot longer to die than on other data centers. Going to another one for convenience still leaves the original DC with the long wait times. You're also putting a lot of assumptions that new players are going to flock to Dynamis when the vast vast majority of sprouts are alts by other players. I actually remember a comment in NN a few nights ago by someone "Has anyone seen an ACTUAL sprout yet?"

New players are going to go where their friends are which (unless their friend is a vet who moved their main over) is most likely not Dynamis. It's safe to say that most made alts for housing because of how braindead it is to get one on Dynamis on top of not needing to actually take care of it because demo is still turned off. So, why would they need to actually play on the DC when they can just go back to their old one and worry about timers whenever demo comes back? Even so, there are still thousands of houses sitting with 0 bids.

Dynamis pop is on par with Materia, even with DC travel. It's insane how empty Limsa is on all servers but Seraph, especially in the mornings when servers like Adamantoise on Aether are constantly alive no matter what time it is.

My point basically is: If more people put in the effort to stick out times and take lead in the community to get things like frontline moving on a daily basis, queues would start moving quicker. The game also needs a burst of new players which isn't going to happen right now in a dead period between patches. Hell, might not even see it till 7.0

They can keep Japan exclusive. Cite cultural similarities with English speaking regions. The bottom line is this DC is going nowhere without some drastic action being taken. It needs 8 fully populated servers to function as a working DC in my opinion and this is going in the opposite direction at the moment for the 5 that are here. Make regional travel exclusive to OCE although that might be something they can't do it's ether do it for all regions or none but I can't speak for that as a fact.

This isn't going to get better it'll be getting worse in my view as time goes by.

I would like to hear some solutions that don't include DC travel or moving Japan servers to the DC or merging this DC with another DC. I don't believe there are any and there are a host of people here just having to deal with the bad decision of thinking these servers would populate well. They aren't and that isn't going to change in my view.

There are almost fully populated English speaking servers in Japan that could have been moved. Tonberry is one of them. Backlash oh lets not offend anyone but lets let the people who decided to come here sit and pray for some divine intervention.

I mean, idk the situation in JP but do they consider Tonberry to be important to them or is it a server they wouldn't mind letting go just because of the English base there?

If I'm not mistaken it's wouldn't be the first time that servers were moved to another DC even before WV was a thing. This should have been part of the mix when the servers went live but now it would probably make a lot of people mad I don't doubt but at the very least give the region DC travel to make it work for those who are here.

No one is coming here to fill these servers so there is no other solution in my view although I'd like to hear solutions I'm not privy to.

Tonberry is home to one of the larger JP FCs on Elemental, just because you don't see many JP players in Limsa doesn't mean they don't make up half of the server.

You also wouldn't just be getting backlash from the JP players there, you'd be getting backlash from the SEA players who have zero reason to go to Materia as well, and I'm fairly sure the JP+SEA population on Tonberry outnumbers the OCE population on there. You'd kill the server as everyone transfers off and make a lot of people angry for zero benefit to Materia.

Moving any of the servers is a non starter.

Not an option.

DC travel is the best option, and one that will NOT disrupt existing communities.

Elemental's got a strong EN community with Tonberry being the core. Taking it away would be a massive blow for the DC as that's where the majority of EN-speaking expats and non-Japanese people in the greater Asia region play with other servers on the DC being secondary. Losing Ramuh and Unicorn to the new DC was also noticeable, but at least the people who stayed on them could travel to Elemental to play with friends.

Removing any active servers from any active DC, regardless of the region or language, is a bad idea. People have their reasons for being where they are and won't take kindly to being forced into a different region.

They are currently, but let me put it this way. Why would anyone make a character on Crystal after the DC split where everyone flocked to Aether?

Well people did make characters on Crystal - particularly a lot of WoW refugees did, because I met them constantly there. They just pick a data center at random and whichever world makes sense to them, unless they have a friend telling them which one to pick.

The Aether population was greater and it was obvious a lot of people had friends telling them to pick Aether, but there were those who picked Crystal and it has grown well over time.

I tried inviting a lot of them without an FC to the Novice Network. A lot of them declined, but some of them didn't. I observe the same behaviour on other data centers, so it's hard to say, but I assumed if they were any higher than 50 they were probably people that transferred.
