I think it's a difference in perception. Players were supposed to treat what was happening in the arena as an adventure and something fun. But since the level of competition, emotions and adrenaline just rolls over and people need different times to get used to, understand and learn, this causes frustration. There is really a lot going on on the map, it is overloaded with events, so there is much more stress. On the other hand, PvP is an adrenaline game, and the balance of this adrenaline (when it's fun, and when it's not so much) is different for everyone. Personally, the overload of the map with events still confuses me.
