Allow me to gesture towards the very early conversation in this thread where those who were for the lottery were being called "greedy" simply for not wanting FCFS, and your own pointless rant about 60-70% of lottery winners not "understanding" how housing works. Unfortunately, a lot of people delight in having things others can't get even if they don't particularly want whatever the item is. We see that all the time in real life. We also see it demonstrated in the current wards with the number of houses that are not decorated and sometimes don't even had a workshop/private chambers added even though it's a FC house.

Still, it's not the players clamoring for housing that will ignore it once they have it. It's the silent masses who don't say much of anything one way or another but decide to see if they can get lucky because it will only take 2 minutes to enter that will ignore their houses if they win. They will have just as much chance of winning as those who intend to use their house.

Some of the winners probably won't understand that they need to enter the house once every 45 days to keep it. That's happened all along even with the effort currently required to get a house. That percentage won't be nearly as high as he claims but he's right - we'll probably be seeing a slightly higher number of demolitions than has been normal the past 2 years.

As much as I like to see effort rewarded, FCFS does not reward based on effort. It rewards based on luck. The person who just happens to walk up 2 minutes before the timer is released is just as likely to win as the player who had been waiting their 6 hours. Having luck trigger for you might be more likely the more effort you put in but it's not guaranteed. That's a terrible way for a system to function.

If we're going to go with a luck based system, better to make it the lottery where every entry requires the same effort and there's no advantage to botting.

I can see this POV and I even agree with it, though, in my wanderings of the wards in my short time playing (just hit the 1 year mark recently!)- I've seen LOTS of empty free company houses, that personally, I think will be held to sell to the highest bidder right before the rules change, more so than the average player that just tried their hand at it and got lucky.

We'll see how it goes though and I'm in complete agreement that we will see many demos, but it won't even be close to his predictions of 60-70% of the players that get lucky with the lottery. I do think that for the most part, players that drop their hat in the ring to get a house will keep that house and hopefully, some of the FC sales market will dwindle once they can't flip and/or sell at the pace they could before.

Ok, you were there with the new housing issues back in Stormblood. But I don’t hear you saying anything about the FCFS in 5.2 when 3 wards per city was open up.

Either you already had a house and didn’t care, or you not talking about THERE WAS NO ISSUES, NO LONG IN QUEUE, NO SERVER ERRORS, EVERYTHING RAN CLEAN.

SE learned from the issues in the past and made sure there were no issues when everything came up in 5.2.

So now that it has been proven that there will be no issues, what are you going to bring up next? It isn’t like we are asking for 21 of the 24 wards to be FCFS, we are only asking for some wards…6 would be great, but we can live with 3 wards or 12.5% of the total of Ishgard housing.

When and how was this proven? Because from all I've read, the current system has been an issue for quite awhile... which is why the majority is asking for ALL wards to be lottery.

The only issue that I am aware of is Bots and people clicking on all hours of the day and night to a buy a house. I haven’t heard or read of any log on/server issues. Besides the Endwalker release that had thousands of players wanting to log on at one time, there isn’t anything like those Stormblood issues of 4 1/2 years ago.

You missed my question. Where is the proof that the current system has no issues? Where is that written and how was it proven, because if it was so successful and that was proven to be fact, why then is another system, totally different from what you claim has no issues, the one rolling out from the looks of it?

There are numerous sources entailing this issue- feel free to Google "FF14 housing crisis/issue/shortage/savage" and reap the results. Reddit, various gaming sites, gaming news articles, Discord server groups all regale the horrors of the current housing system. Heck the front page of this forum is filled with complaints about the FAILURES of the current system.

SE is well aware of the issues. SE has commented on them, made changes recently to relocation and has stated that they think the lottery is the way to proceed. Clearly, they've read the same feedback I and others have and agreed that it's time for a change. :cool:

24 wards should be split 12 and 12. We'll find out soon enough what they have planned I support the split.
