I appreciate the suggestion. My intent isn't to cause controversy. I'm trusting that the names will stop though. Ty MilitaryVet123.

Nope, you've only unlocked flying in ARR zones, not the other zones. It's one thing if zones are seamlessly connected, but they're not and it's very apparent when you move from one zone to another. Flying is not disabled once it's unlocked. You just need to unlock it for each expansion.
Semantics, but for the sake of civil discussion, I will agree to your verbage.
Flying should be unlocked for all content upon the completion of ARR content, whether the aether currents remain in the game or not. To have the feature enabled in one batch of content only to have it disabled in the later content that you are forced to linearly play through is quite jarring.
And that's why aether currents exist. It makes it apparent why you don't have flying in future zones to make it not jarring. The reason for not flying is they want you to experience the initial exploration of the zone on the ground and I don't see that changing. So aether current was a solution to this, and now with the ARR revamp, they just need to add the alternative method.
If that was the intent, then it was not successful, especially after the addition of ARR flying. The game needs to be further improved so that flying is enabled for all content after the player's first ability to fly.
The intention could not have been to force players to experience the initial exploration of the expansion zones or story at a slower pace, as we are gladly charged a real world fee to skip the process.
Both do invalidate the intent as well as the game design as it currently stands. The option to pay a real world fee to skip the mechanic completely invalidates the alleged purpose of the aether current mechanic. As well as, having flight enabled only to have it disabled in the next zone for arbitrary reasons, is not an enjoyable experience and makes an unnecessary redundancy.
That's like saying leveling and MSQ is invalidated because of boost. Not everyone will use boost, and if you want to pay SE more to do so, then SE gains from that, so they have no reason to remove it.
Just because you don't like the reason does not make it arbitrary. And if you don't enjoy it, feel free to boost, in the next expansion, since you can't boost through current expansion content.Quote:

That's a different topic, but the logic is the same, and you are correct in equating the two assumptions. I'm not commenting on SE or any commercial actions though, as per the forum policies. This discussion is strictly game design and improving the user experience.
It's not just because I, and others, do not like the experience that I post the request for the improvement to the game. I've provided sound logical reasoning as to the redundancies in the mechanic.
It's disheartening that the only consolation that the community offers is to champion the paying of a real world fee to skip game content.
I'm not championing real world fee. You're the one saying that invalidates the intent of the devs. The intent is for you to explore on the ground first, so do that. The user experience does not need fixing, just improved with the addition of the alternative method to add consistency with ARR.
