its not even that your friends can help you out, you can go for 50 in some hours all by yourself. And thats the problem getting 50 on day one either with sever-tick-job-switch exploit or lvl 70 friend support kills the whole idea of grouping up. So yeah all Hardcore Raider, Speedrunner, Archivment Hunter or else people with fast progression mind are killing the whole job experience by themselves boosting the char and grinding the skill asap just for the "collectors" mentality.... thats just my feeling about the situation.
In my fc were 5x lvl 50 on day one as well... I just tread my Blu as normal cls - leveling in the open world and blue-exp pfs. Its way slower (lvl 46 atm) but for me it really is fun, meeting random people on farmspots which support each other or to see how other people use skills other than the damn needles. If u slow it down Blu can be an experience... if u rush it its just... a week of Grind to never touch it again... in the end its what people make out of it. Some people might understand this opinion, most of you sadly wont - but well each for his own - I still like Blu atm and I haven't stepped into the Arena yet. So even more experience to discover.
the only joke about blu atm in my opinion... is the chocobo nerf.. rly? the yellow birds break balance?.. they can't be serious if thats their biggest issue with the cls x'D
anyway: #imbluedabadidabadei <3
Nonsense - they gave us a real BLU instead of a colour-swapped RDM.
Go through the list of spells and tell me which ones could be actually used in game in actual raid/dungeon content.
BLU would be a ranged spell DPS with a 4/5 button rotation and would have been further away from the actual BLU we have now.
I think SE make some seriously wonky decisions with this game and its content. This is not once of them.
The core of the job would have to fall in line with the other Range Magical DPS. Like Red Mage did.
Now that's not a bad thing, it's just how the game system actually runs in 4/8/24 man content. Unless they want to shake all of that up, which they may well do, we can't have some outlier job that doesn't fit.
If you do it either becomes mandatory or useless.
Yes, I agree that the job would have to fall into the category of Ranged Magical DPS, but that doesn't have to mean being the same as RDM, BLM or SMN. Unless we're arguing those three are already pretty much the same thing. I don't agree with that, but I know some people do.
Well they all have to perform the same function, to the same standard (or as close as balance allows). So for arguments sake let''s say BLU is a DPS, not a tank or healer.
You'd have to take a serious (magic) hammer to their healing ability (e.g. White Wind healing to full - nope... here's Vercure potency.) Mighty Guard giving you a tanking spec... but nobody's allowing you to tank a dungeon or now the BLMs are complaining you can tank world mobs - nerf to that.)
All of the debuffs don't work on raid mobs and none have elemental weakness - that's jettisoned all of those useful abilities.
Bad Breath proving instant cast dots and you can shield yourself through mechanics... bye bye Summoners... you're no longer needed.
My point is bringing it in line will destroy what it is. It would bring up the issue that healers have with identity - it will be interesting to see how they handle Dancer - I imagine poorly >.<
Well, I agree that maybe White Wind in a Blue Mage would end up being like Vercure in a Red Mage, but Mighty Guard would only need to be what it is in classic FFs, a support spell that raises the allies' defenses, like a Bard song in FFXIV. Then it could have Bad Breath being its DoT, as most classes have. The rest would be a matter of taking classic skills of Blue Mage, adapting them into FFXIV mechanics, like they did with almost every other skill from other classes, and coming up with a unique job mechanic. It would destroy what it is now, sure, but I'm not saying it should be changed to this NOW. It's how I think it should've been done from the beginning. Now it's too late to change into what I think would've been an easier and less controversial way of implementing the job.
