I would straight up die laughing if that really was their response to all the people constantly asking for vierra. :'D

I am very relieved to see a lot of support and hype has gone towards Ronso rather than Lupin due to uh... things that would get my stuff deleted on these forums.
Ronso would be the perfect beast-like race to implement as they share the same shape as humans (mostly), are very customizable and have a clear distinction between the genders and each other.
Viera/Ronso/Bangaa (pipedream) = yes!
Dwarves/Lupin = no ty
Dunno anything about this so-called Viera leak, but I'll believe it when I see it. That said, folks in opposition to petit males and imposing females (i.e., reverse from Au Ra), males have plenty of imposing options to choose from as it is. I don't see any problems with giving folks who want to play male another petit option. Asking for a wildly different subrace is not realistic; it's like asking for two races at once (which, to be fair, is sort of what this thread is all about :P ).
As for dwaves, I definitely don't consider Lalafell to be the game's take on the "dwarven" theme. They skew a lot closer to hobbits or halflings. I wouldn't mind seeing a new race that's more truly dwarven, short but stocky and muscular, magnificent beard options for the males (probably not the females - this ain't Pratchett), and so on and so forth. They probably wouldn't be called "Dwarves" though, for the same reason humans are called Hyur. They'd get some new name, like Dweezl or whatever.
And speaking of Viera, it'd be interesting to see if THEY are called Viera. If they did, it would break the tradition of giving a new racial name when a race is imported into FFXIV. To my knowledge, they haven't mentioned Viera at all yet in the Ivalice raid storyline, so there's still room to give them a new racial name if they choose...
It hasn't been officially confirmed whether Garleans are their own race or a Hyur offshoot. The fact that they can breed with Hyur doesn't prove anything one way or another - so can Elezen (Hilda) and Au Ra (the legends told by the Raen of Sui-no-Sato). I'm guessing that ANY of the player races can interbreed, but those are the only two examples I know of in-game.
In fairness to the Kojin, they wear masks. There's no telling what their mouths are doing behind the masks! Ditto, goblins.
Where does it say the Kojin wear masks? Their unmoving faces creep me out and I’d wondered if they might be masks (particularly since other beast tribe characters have moving mouths) but I don’t remember them ever actually saying so.
Never saw that concept art for the child like Viera before...
GIVE ME! Put both in.
Yeah that last doesn't shout adult viera who are short but if they went about unleashing viera children. The adorableness is probably why we don't have them as a race yet because then they'd take over the cuteness spot light that lil cat girls are currently hogging. Also most of those other concept art is of the au ra.
Similar statements could be said of the dragons and lupin which are definitely not masks, but when the same issue of no facial animations appear in any non player race the mask explanation doesn't hold up very well. Personally, I never thought they were wearing masks.
The Viera actually have been mentioned by name in the first quest from 4.3's Ivalice quests:
Quote:
Mikoto: Dalmasca has long been known as a melting pot for myriad cultures -- where minor races such as the Seeq, the Bangaa, and the Viera might live in relative harmony with Hyur, Elezen, and others.
