He's much less bland if you have the japanese cutscenes and the japanese dialogue. He hits on your character a bit, says stuff like how it's warmer in his bed chambers. They made him much more bland in the Eng cutscenes. He also has a chapter dedicated outside of this game that talks about his backstory more. Haurchefant of the Silver Fuller.

I can't believe anyone would feel this way.. About Haurchefant.. about any of the characters..

Haurchefant was the best thing to happen to FFXIV, and my love for him as a character is what keeps me playing.. He gave an otherwise soulless story arc a soul, and the game is lesser without him there.

To think anyone feels so coldy about him and the characters in the game just pains me so much and I don't understand it..

Of all the character that should have stayed dead it was Nanamo it was the big ended to ARR and then in the expansion they just hit the reset button the whole think with a quick quest. What was the point of all the drama? Just a convoluted way for the Scions to "die"? We know they didn't die too I guess they needed characters to die to make up for that in HW. Haurchefant was probably the most emotional one to choose given how long he's been in the story if you read the quest text and he doesn't have some sort of plot armour like those more involved with the WoL. Ysayle I guess fell under that catagory too and that's a shame because she had a good character arc starting as an enemy and somebody else with the echo who had her own quest. They could have done a lot more with her I think after she saw the mistakes she made and wanted to set things right. Would have been interesting for They seem like they feel they have to create characters to die for drama now because they don't want to kill off some others. I honestly wished after the whole ARR ending drama that we had to rebuild the Scions instead of just having them find some deus ex magic to save them. Having a new group in HW felt fresh then they use them as sacrificial drama lambs so they can justify bringing the original group back.

Would have liked to see Ysayle become a Scion and get some redemption where Ishgard and her need to learn to forget the past and accept each other and she later does something to redeem herself much like the whole Dragon saving a little girl thing.

His whole raison d'etre and reason for becoming a knight was to protect and help those in need. Not only did he gave his life protecting someone important to him, but by saving the WoL he indirectly saved Eorzea by protecting its saviour. That's pretty poignant IMO.

If I recall I think we needed permission to enter certain areas of Coerthas because Cid lost his ship there, which is the reason he helped

Dravanian Knights? Can't remember so I'm guessing he auto attacked like a random npc while I nuked everything to oblivion.

Last I checked we received plenty of donations for our recent endeavors. saving the world and stuff

Yeah he was nice to allow us to stay in his home, I'll give him that. Still be the bomb if we actually had to survive in the wilds of Ishgard to survive, that'd be awesome X)

I never need saving, specially from fat birds. We took on Bismarck and screwed them all over (which cutscene was that btw? I really don't remember us being in any immediate danger in Heavensward)

He chose to fight, makes him a nice guy but never did anything noticeable aside from Alphy who pulls out a onyx carbuncle every once in a while (special little...)

That light beam to my back most likely wouldn't of killed me if I can take just about anything to the face and or back

Though he died for me, its valiant yes but it was unneeded so he's pretty cool now that I think about it more. Though I don't really care for him much still. As much as I haaaaatteeee Alphy sometimes, he either comes to help, making amends to the stupid yet honest mistake he made or help in battle as much as possible. Minfilia who I didn't like too much gave her life to save Hydalynn which is like, awesome sauce (or something like that...hmm...). But those are main characters so I guess they kinda had time to settle in my brain for a bit. Maybe Moenbryda? For as short of time I had with her, every moment was fun and she just kicked ass....and died. Even if she didn't die and went back to some far off island I'd still remember her just for kicking butt.

So yeah, everything else was completely unnoticeable to me besides Lady Iceheart, maybe that one moment I helped feed those poor people in Foundation but that's about it, nothing sticks out, it kinda just blends in....sadly. I'd like to mention class quest characters but I'm sure some will never come back so there'd be no point. I don't hate Harry btw, I just don't think of him much. Like Quickthinx or w/e the little girl ones name is in the Alexander quest. I'm not going to remember much of her words or actions because it just melds in with the rest of it. Shame the music doesn't do it justice but that's just to me. Well now I'm rambling lol, take all of it as you will.

Right, but he didn't have to. He could've written off the WoL like all of the other Ishgardians did - an outsider.

Your genre savvy is showing. Yeah we know that on a meta level we basically have plot armor +5, but if you look at the spear of light and what it does in Thordan EX (it inflicts an infirmity debuff that makes you literally unable to heal whoever is hit with it until it wears off) it's actually pretty plausible that Zephirin could have killed the WoL with that attack had Haurchefant not intervened.

I personally was cheering for a Estinien x Ysayle relationship development. At the end they were just beginning to understand each other and it pains me to see the hopes of that dashed.

Course I yelled a few choice words at the screen when Estinien decided to try using even more of Nidhoggs power even though he was already barely holding onto his sanity as it was.
His stupidity (Or the bad character plot development?) makes me a little mad when I see him reappear now.

Estinien x Ysayle is my most favourite romantic pairing in the whole game. If we don't get a ship moment where she appears and helps him gain control of myself I'm throwing my remote out the window, gosh darn it.

Most of them haven't been as closed off as Ishgard was - they were the guys you didn't call when you needed backup and expect them to show up, because generally they were only concerned about Isghardian affairs, and from that alone it's a different situation.

That being said, it's also not really Haurchefant's thing anyway - the supplies being sent was part of developing relations that was spear headed more by Aymeric, partially to build positive relations outside of Ishgard but also as a bargaining chip for having them watch over Midgardsormr's remains due to the concern over the call going out to the Dravinian Horde. It was pretty much a political you scatch my back, I'll scratch yours situation, with the negotiations largely in favor of the Ishgardians.

Haurchefant was involved in making sure the supplies made it to Revenant's Toll, and I'm sure he did so gladly, but it's not the same as the other things on the list.

I may be wrong since I don't remember the specifics of each scene, but I believe it was Haurchefant/ House Fortemps who took the initiative in sending supplies to RT. Then when the heretics waylaid the caravans and Ishgard starting calling for restrictions on the sending of aid to Mor Dhona, Aymeric stepped in to assure they would continue in exchange for our surveillance of Middy.

He wasn't trying to use more power when he took both eyes though, he was going to take them somewhere to either seal away or be destroyed so it would never be a problem again. Unless you mean before then, but he has shown he has enough willpower to overcome one eye.
