Why are we doing Expert Roulette for the game's best gear?

I see the need to have tools there to keep us in older content (tomes/relic) but I do feel they could make it better. I also feel that they overuse thse sometimes, or use them as a crutch.


Other than that I would love to see some sort of a Relic Armor questline with the difficulty of the initial Relic quest, but for each piece, and different for each class, like a grand story questline. But that would require a huge, huge amount of resources.

I'm not understanding your point. You don't have to do expert roulette at all to cap lore. The gear that expert roulette drops is good for gearing alts, if they're not 210 already, good for a stepping stone for returning players catching up, good for glamor, and good for seals.

I cap lore by Wednesday from a combination of all roulettes, all Midas floors, Void Ark, Feast matches, helping FC mates, and the odd farm or two if I'm invited. It's ridiculously easy to cap lore through simply playing everything the game has to offer.

The devs should bring out some dungeons with the 1.0 design.

8 man instead of 4 man, only 1 mid-boss instead of 2, and an average party would need around 3 days - 1 week to learn the strat for killing the first mid-boss.

You dont' need to do expert roulette. Each savage clear gives 30 lore and a decent group can kill a5 to a7 iby now so it is 90 lore, 180 if you do alt runs. Feast is super fun. In addition you need to do savage until3.3 to upgrade anyway so that is potentially more gear you don't need to buy. I'm ilvl 235 and I only do 1 expert roulette a week.

You can leave feedback without suggestions or have an opinion and not be whining. I'm guessing she's not a game developer full of creative ideas that would likely be ignored anyway. There are tons of other threads with suggestions, though. I guess she could have posted there instead of creating a thread, but not having suggestions for improvement does not make feedback irrelevant. We're consumers paying for a product, not developers.

Why? If you aren't running savage, you don't need to have the best gear right away. She shouldn't be getting kicked for wearing a couple of 190 pieces unless she's also playing poorly too. For one of my characters, I spend lore tomes on my tank and midas tokens on my other jobs. If you don't run midas for whatever reason (for example, no patience for losing roll 30 times on one token), you can use esoterics, but you also need esoterics for relic tokens or astral oils. It's kind of annoying how many things are locked behind the previous tier's currency.

It's whining because not only did she make up criteria about the quality, criteria, and availability of the weapons, but she made the choice to limit her time to only being able to run DREX. That's not feedback, it's some kind of odd, entitled whining.

Proper feedback is constructive, not a bunch of falsehoods and half truths propping up whining.

I do agree that most groups shouldn't or wouldn't kick for the gear she has on her tank, with the execptions of some Seph EX or Savage groups, so I was working on the assumption that it was a combination of that and player skill. Other than that, maybe her static, but if you are part of a static and prioritize leveling everything over gearing their main, well thats a deserved kick.

She addressed the other content and said it's a slower way of accumulating the same currency, which is true. Not everyone wants to spam The Feast. I can't stand pvp in this game at all. None of the other roulettes give anywhere near as much lore as expert roulette. She said doesn't do statics, so obviously savage becomes difficult there. I dunno about Jenova, but the only PFs I see related to savage on Hyperion lately are fill-ins for current groups. I haven't seen an A5S learning party in weeks. It's definitely not like 2.x where you could clear every coil turn through PF, but I guess it could be like that again in a few months.

So what were the falsehoods? Some pieces of lore gear are best even if you do savage raid. I don't really understand the hostility I guess. It's totally possible to disagree without looking up someone's lodestone and attacking her gear. :/

Edit: Right after I wrote this, an A6S learning group went in PF lol. That just sounds painful, though.

This. Open word dungeons could be a thing again with the strongholds and the coffers with gear.

Why is this still a topic?? The expert roulette doesn't award the best gear in the game. The hardest content in the game gives the best gear in the game. The reason we have tomes is because people complained that they can't get any gear without doing raids. You still need to do raids if you want the best gear. Also (not sure if OP even knows what they are talking about here) you need to do raids to upgrade to 240.

We're not getting the strongest gear in the game from tomes, though. You can't upgrade it to i240 without raiding. Getting kicked from expert dungeons for being "undergeared" is pretty dumb unless you pulled some gear shenanigans (swapping, wearing accessories with incorrect stats, etc) to meet the item level to get in, though. If I ran into someone in all Prototype Gordian gear in expert roulette I wouldn't exactly be happy, but I'm not going to kick them unless they perform so poorly that we're unable to clear the dungeon. Prototype Midan gear is very easy to get.
