I agree with the Blu tank statement but only if the developed it correctly. The only thing is Yoshi-p said that the way the game is designed it would be too much of a challenge to consider.

Rdm always should be a melee/caster dps. Not a half-a**ed tank class jammed into the role for no reason like DRK.
Honestly I would like to see a unique set of hybrid jobs maybe a job that taps into the spiritual realm and supports and deals dmg directly and group defensive measures. Maybe a job that utilizes a variety of actual machines like in a favorite past FF games direct and dot dps. Or an actual tank that utilizes mana with an enhances mana wall-ish ability. Uses mana combined with TP to boost dps or cause burst dmg with a penalty to mp/tp recovery for a small period. Idk just some thoughts. With new job names/titles of course.
I meant to say in that with the first mentioned possibilty you could deal dmg directly or via a residual effect of a defensive support ability used on the team.

Red mage would or should be a caster support role.....the first caster support role in the game.
I'd personally prefer it be a caster dps, maybe caster dps/support, with samurai being a melee dps.
So it steps on Summoner / BLM.. :(
Or bard with WM (Caster Support)
We already have that class. We need something unique.
I think making a new class that is similar to what we already have is a terrible idea. How about some originality? Red Mages can tank, and they were used as such in the past. We have no casting tanks. It would fit the role pretty well.
