This is still the case for WHMs as well.
Because you know, apparently being immobile for 5.7sec for a SS2 is waaaaay too long.

Since the patch is live, i ended up manually SSing everyone more than i got to cast a full SS2.

The relic drops rush isnt really helping either.

I've ended up having to waste a SwiftCast to get SSII up on everyone at least once in a pugged group out of sheer annoyance. Luckily, most will wait for protect (rather than SS) so I've resorted to SSing and then protecting after (usually for Raids). You want Protect? You're going to have to wait or go without until I'm able to get it in. In which case, most of these are speed run and I have no time to sit and cast protect. And stupid to run off on big pulls without the buff to begin with.

I'd say the Relic rush made things worse. I've had people run off without either one, before (and two WHMs, so no SCH aoe buffs. I would still have to manually SS everyone). Granted, it was just Ifrit HM, but still. My screen had barely loaded from black and they're half-way across the platform already. Buff-naked of anything.

While I can understand SCH getting this too my guess would be the main reason to keep it to only WHM is to address the issue when you have a WHM + SCH party. With 2 WHM or 2 SCH they can each cover half the party. With WHM + SCH the WHM gets to stoneskin everyone.

I do think the coding was a bit lazy though - by putting the 18% into the skill itself they are guaranteeing that it will never be cross-class. They'd have to reduce the base to 10% and add in a WHM trait to make it 18%.

I'm the same, OP. They should give SCH their own version of SS2, I don't think there's any reason why SCH should still have to manually Stoneskin the whole group if no WHM is present, when WHMs get a neat do-it-for-me-button.

When do you ever NEED to SS the whole party? Any content that can be cleared without a WHM does not require a party wide SS. The only reason this was implemented was to save time and effort when it came to Raid Scenarios.

You guys want our Shell too? Shroud of Saints maybe?
I don't get how some sch keep moaning and whining about this but then presume to be the top healers and how content can easily be done without whm when they benefit already from conjurer cross class skills. How about being a sch without SS or protect? Or Cleric Stance? Aren't you so awesome and top healer? Can't you allow the whms to get some extra love once in a while without engaging in general jelousy?

Can you explain to me how SSII makes WHMs better since it was just a QoL change?

I play both SCH and WHM equally, cant say neither or is my main.

And.. I'm 50/50 with this. It would help me greatly to have an AOE Stoneskin. I truly want it, but at the same time I like uniqueness in classes.
SCH have a lot of "OP" stuff going for them already, and although an AOE Stoneskin which cant be used in battle wont make them more OP than what they currently are.
I believe WHM should have something that separates them from other healer(s).

My vote goes to "Keep it as is".

Barring the fact that your post missed the entire point of the original request..

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if eventually Protect loses the trait and is permanently ProShell. With the introduction of a new healer, we'll start to see raid compositions being WHM + SCH or WHM + Healer since people won't want to raid without the ProShell aspect, thus shoehorning WHM into a permanent position in a raid group. It would be more beneficial to the overall group dynamic if it could be any paired combination without any serious protective detriment.

I understand all to well the annoyance of chasing people down with SS. And honestly, once people already ran off, before the cast, into the first pull, SSII is useless - and therefore the same problem exists. It's NOT a cureall to the problem - so regardless who or both gets it, it's not godly.

Honestly, SCH get more party-based buffs/AoE buffs - including summon's skills (granted you can't use both faeries at once, but you still get 2 extra no matter which fae you have out) - than WHM, and suffer little enmity issues. If a SCH uses one right before a pull, they don't really suffer from it. If I casted Protect right before a pull, shit immediately goes to hell.

SCH get:
- Adloquium - (non AoE) Restores target's HP. Cure Potency: 300
Additional Effect: Erects a magicked barrier which nullifies damage equaling the amount of HP restored. When critical HP is restored, damage nullification is doubled for 30s.

- Succor - (AoE) Restores own HP and the HP of all nearby party members. Cure Potency: 150
Additional Effect: Erects a magicked barrier which nullifies damage equalling the amount of HP restored for 30s.

- Sacred Soil - (AoE) Creates a designated area in which party members will only suffer 90% of all damage inflicted for 15s.
Additional Effect: 20% chance that next Succor will cost no MP for 15s.
Can only be used when under the effect of Aetherflow

- Fey Convanent - (Fae AoE) Increases magic defense of self and nearby party members by 20% for 20s.

- Fey Illumination - (Fae AoE) Increases cure magic potency of self and nearby party members by 20% for 20s.

- Fey Glow - (Fae AoE) Increases spell speed of self and nearby party members by 30% for 30s.
Cannot use while Fey Light effect is active.

-Fey Light - (Fae AoE) Increases skill speed of self and nearby party members by 30% for 30s.
Cannot use while Fey Glow effect is active.

- (Cross-skilled) Protect (AoE)
- (Cross-skilled) Stone Skin (non-AoE)


WHMs get....
- Protect - (AoE) Increases the physical defense of all party members within range of target for 30mins

- StoneSkin - (non-AoE) Creates a barrier around target that prevents physical damage totaling 10% of target's maximum HP for 30mins.

-(Cross-skilled) Eye for an Eye


So why not give WHM another AoE as SSII? It can't even be used in the middle of battle (that would be OP, on anyone) and if people are going to run off out of range or immediately into battle, it's back to the original fight to get SS up.
