Thanks. Actually my gear is max melded w/ a Supra and Offhand is Quad-Melded Tier IVs. Tne only thing I didn't upgrade yet is the New Artisan's Hands, Pants and Feet (which is like a Chicken-and-Egg Catch 22?)... I mean I can't craft the new 4 Star Recipes I unlocked without Control Food or the FC Buffs to *get* the Artisans Pants that should then help me craft 4 Stars better? Hm... :)

Eat control food or buy NQ Artisans off the market board, not terribly difficult. Would've been better to meld off-hand with control and use shark fin soup instead but it's probably too late for that if your off-hand is quad IV melded.

I'm kind of new to this "actually trying to make things with stars" thing. Actually, I pretty much suck at crafting in general, so forgive me for asking a dumb question.

So I'm having an odd issue with some of these suggested rotations for getting the HQs for the books. I'm completing the ones with early progresses about 1/4 of the way through. Is it because my craftsmanship is too high? I had eaten an HQ chilled popoto soup, and my FC action for control and craftsmanship are on. This puts me at 505 crafting and 420 control after taking all my gear and materia into account.

Should I try a different food? Wait for the buff to wear? Am I going about this the wrong way?

Use HQ Bouillabaisse instead. The food you're currently using is only good if you happen to be short on craftsmanship to reach 4 stars. Judging from your craftsmanship with buffs and food, you don't need the extra craftsmanship at all.
