2.4 Crafting and Gathering Megathread - Max Melds & Rotations

Hi all. I have been looking around and haven't found a place where people are talking about the practicals around crafting and gathering. So I wanted to create a place for people to post useful information.

Here is what would help us all out:
    - Off hand max meld values
    - Other equipment max meld values
    - Crafting rotations for the stupidly hard 3-star HQ masterbook
    - Crafting rotations for the new 4-star items/gear

To get things started, the new gathering points are in Middle La Noscea (Botanist) and Southern Thanalan (Miner). The nodes are open at 4am Eorzean time.

Post what you know... for the good of us all!

Looking at the stats the new gear is going to be super easy to meld (at most 1 over meld). Not counting the offhand of course.

What that means is you can get max stats even with non hq gear. Just have to use heir teir materia. And I was here worried about nothing~

So, each of the Artisan's body pieces gives +0 Craftsmanship and +3 Control over AF. The gloves have the same stats as the Ixali gloves, but with 3 more CP.

This means, with a Supra, you'll be able to avoid melding any Control onto your Artisan's Offhand if you want. You'll be at 436 Craftsmanship and 400 Control with the AF gear, and you need 451/407 to do four star crafts. With the Ixali gloves, the Artisan pants, and the Artisan feet, you'll have 409 Control. Then, you just need another 15 craftsmanship. You can get this by melding just Competence IV, Competence III, Competence II (or Competence IIIx3) into your offhand, which should be really cheap.

Of course, the problem here is that you need to have the four star crafted items in order to make the four star crafted items like this... So, you may have to meld a single Command IV into your offhand and use the Ixali gloves to reach the Control requirements. But, once you have your artisan's pants/feet, you can possibly forego the control on your other offhands.

Heck, you can almost avoid the Supra once you have the Artisan's body pieces, but you'll wind up either 1 craft or 3 control short =\

I think I'll wind up melding into my offhands Command IV, Competence III, Competence III, Competence III, and then either Competence III or Cunning III. Should be pretty cheap, given I bought 31 Competence IIIs for 15k each just after the patch, and SBing IIIs is easy.

Anybody already crafted any offhands? I did my first one today and failed at 31% using Supra tool and all other items from 2.3 (418 Craft/392 Control) using my regular 3 star item rotation. :-(

I had a bit of bad luck with Hasty touch but it still felt like it is hard to HQ them even if not 5 out of 9 would have failed. But it is hard to tell with so many fails after all so I don't know for real. I was unpleasantly surprised to see that even after getting all three items in HQ that are possible (including Wolfram) it lead to a woppin' 4% start quality. What rotation did you use to HQ one of them and what are your stats?

I use this rotation for 3 star crafts. http://i.imgur.com/1MQpZwq.jpg

For 4 stars, I just have to add one Piece by Piece at the beginning and remove one Hasty Touch from the rotation. Pretty consistent way to get HQ if you start with HQ materials.

(Note: Since I have so much CP, I tend to replace the last few Hasty touches with Advanced Touch)

Since the token item needed for the Supra is the same as the token needed for the Master 2 book which is needed to do 4 stars it doesn't make much sense to skip the supra. Since the Token items are super hard to HQ (from my understanding I'm still playing catch up with 3 star items) So any that you fail to HQ you can turn into a supra.
