Wrong. Siren was non-elemental, status affliction silence. She didn't actually deal water damage, that was Leviathan.

Uh, wrong. Shiva, Ifrit, Ramuh, Leviathan, Titan and Garuda were celestials, from other worlds.

Fenrir, Diabolos and Carbuncle were Terrestrials, from Vana'diel, which made them more powerful than Celestials - though it should be noted in Carbuncle's case that his power was dwindling because of the effort required to keep Vana'diel safe. He was barely terrestrial level. Diabolos' power dwindled after the Shadow Lord became the Dynamis Lord also.

Odin, Bahamut and Alexander were actually gods.

Generally, Fenrir is way, way, way, way, way more powerful than Shiva. Just summoning him made Karaha-Baruha become a thing (which was no longer part of Vana'diel) and Sarutabaruta become a desert from the energy the summoning drew from the land, and later in wotg, two versions of Karaha-Baruha summoning Fenrir together resulted in the both of them dying.

Just sayin'

Fenrir was something else in another series. Fenrir is something else in FFXIV.

Gladiator was an elemental sword attacker in FFTA. Gladiator is a tank in FFXIV.

Things change. Things doesn't have to be a carbon copy of past game elements. If you treasure it so much, play that game again.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if lvl 50 dungeons actually had some staying power. A year from now players won't even know Siren/Diabolos/Fenrir even exist in game.

By that reasoning any time you complain about anything you are doing it 'just to complain'.

The fact is Fenrir and Diabolos are both very popular summons AND both were summons in FFXI (which all of XIV's primals are directly taken from, every single one). People have a right to voice their disappointment at SE's choice to effectively demote their favourite characters to ignorable and forgettable bosses that you'll likely kill the first time you meet them without a shred of challenge.

In XI, Diabolos and Fenrir both had some really compelling stories (The Full Moon Fountain/Windurst storyline and Dynamis/CoP respectively) and the fact such awesome writing won't be seen again with these characters (who really were characters, not just bosses) is disappointing.

I am sort of pinged by the fact both Diabolos and Fenrir are terrestrial to Vana'diel though. It'd be an understandable decision if XIV's dev team had some sort of terrestrial/celestial law with primals (since XI's celestial avatars are certainly terrestrial to Eorzea) and stated that as Celestial (to Eorzea), and terrestrial to Vanadiel, Diabolos, Fenrir, Carbuncle and Bahamut aren't actually Primals.

To be fair if you count every FF game and not just the main numbered titles then Sylph makes a fair number of appearances. Sylph doesn't carry with it a strong image, however.

On Fenrir's appearance: It doesn't bother me. We don't even know how hard the battle will be, if there will be a hard version, if there will be a savage version etc. It's not like we'd ever get to use him on SMN anyway in the same vein that we'll never get to use any summons outside of the main 6 elements. So what's the issue? That he he won't be perceived as a big bad primal or pseudo-primal that we have to fight in a standard arena? Well then I have to revert to my first point: we know nothing of the difficulty. Strategies used to fight him may vary based on the moon phases for all we know!

Honestly the only reason I know of Fenrir is because I have a nostalgia-goggled love for FFVI and it was well... a wolf. Diabolos I only really know of because of said love of VI and MUST HAVING GBA VERSION.

Honestly, for me, not a big deal. I'm still waiting on Phoenix or Ragnarok.

I want that Qarn armor those mobs(?) are wearing.
