Unfortunately, they do so because they utterly crushed the Eorzean Alliance, and what was once known as Eorzea is now New Garlea, the latest province of the Garlean Empire. And when I say "share" their technology, I mean the people of Eorzea─pardon, New Garlea─toil away in Garlean factories, creating weapons of destruction for the next conquest.

Not too happy with it you get punished. Unlike Coerthas where they throw you down Witchdrop, the Sultana decides to put you down the Eighty Sins of Sasamo and roll fat chocobos down, eighty in number. If you survive, you are pardoned.
