Hunts (and other things) made me quit for about a month.
I've been hearing from so many players that have been playing considerably more since Hunts were introduced. it's made certain grinds more entertaining than what we used to do before them. Hunts are simply very rewarding.
Now you see the crux of the problem with TRUE open world content. It's what people wanted, but if you make it too rewarding you have the issue we have now with the bloodthirsty zergs. Make it less so, and no one does it at all. The "we can't have nice things" term applies here, because people cannot control themselves.
The reason to have a limit is to put it in line with other content that offers similar rewards.
The bloodthirsty zerg thing is a reflection on the server's community. Certain servers have managed to use Hunts as a medium to strengthen the server community as a whole.
The main concern with Hunts is that it is far too rewarding in many regards, but honestly I'd rather spend my time grinding content where I get to communicate with a variety of people from the server and make new friends, etc, then repeatedly spamming old content in speedruns.
I am kind of annoyed with hunts in their current state. Reliance on a third-party tool to track windows merely so you can know if there's even any reason to be 'hunting' is rather rubbish. Especially as far as S-Ranks are concerned since the respawn timers are stupidly long and they have spawn conditions which may or may not have been met if the window is even up.
And the change to B-ranks, while an improvement for the weekly process, means that forming hunt parties leads to massive dead periods where there's nothing to really do. :-/
Myth should be removed from the rewards... When myth is removed from the game entirely.
If myth (or soldiery) is removed from hunts, they'd need to add a reasonable, non-instance source to acquire it before I'd be OK with that. Do not try to force me back into dungeons. >:-(
A server-wide organized horde scouting entire zones and bonding on voice chat, accepting anybody shouting into parties, waiting at any found mark until an agreed upon pull time so as to allow anybody who needs it to arrive on time, and then killing it in a way where enmity is prioritized but damage done to the target is minimized so as to allow as much people to get full credit as possible whilst the target lives longer.
Yup. Savages. The lot of them.
A server-wide desorganized horde AFKing while a few try to scout the zones and just macromessages in normal chat, accepting anybody out of pure desperation, no waiting anyone and just pulling on sight with a bit middle finger to anyone who has more than 2 seconds of loading screen, then killling it in a way that obviusly enmity is more important than damage because hunts are so badly planned that their HP is just stupid and that allows just a few people to get their rewards, forcing players to act like animals if they really want to be part of the whole thing.
Yup. Animals. All of them.
Oh, is that how it is on Cactuar? That sucks. Perhaps that needs to change. I was describing Hunts on Excalibur though... you know, since people tend to forget that their personal experiences aren't necessarily shared by everybody else. I transferred servers while Hunts were a thing, and so I feel like I've gained some perspective.
