If you'd read the dev tracker objectively, you would have seen where Yoshi-P has stated on more than one occasion that the current fix for Frontline queues was a temporary fix which was implemented hastily. They are working on much more robust changes to the queue system to alleviate queue times across the board, which is why they didn't implement the Frontline queue fix to other things like Syrcus Tower.

What criticism is being silenced? This forum is full to bursting with criticism, and even some of what the consensus perceives as silly gets addressed by the devs (which is what inspired the OP to create this thread). Do you just not like it when someone disagrees with you?

No, I'm just being realistic about the direction of the game rather than white knighting. Criticism shouldn't be silenced just because you "trust" SE to do the right thing. Criticism being silenced is what brought us 1.0. I'd rather not see the game go down in flames again because of silly things that can be avoided.

There's a difference between criticism being silenced and people whining over and over about everything and nothing.

The problem with your arguments is that you only mention part of the situation to support your argument and then purposely fail to mention things that don't support your argument.

1. How do you prevent NMs from being zerged by the entire server? You either implement a claim system (that people didn't want) or make them popped (which fails to address the request for free-roaming NMs).
2. Like above, you forgot that people were actually asking for a claim system. (yes, there were both people asking for a claim system and people asking for none to be implemented)

The only thing you have a point with is Hunts making the rest of the content obsolete, but hey, at least hunts do give good rewards, it just needed to be way more balanced.

This is why I "White Knight" as much as I critique the Dev team. They can't predict everything that's going to happen nor can they fix everything. Some things just won't work for XIV that worked for XI, WoW, Rift, PSO2, Tera, <insert MMO>. They are different beasts and need to be treated as such.
Am I happy with how they take some of our suggestions? Heck no.
Would I do some things differently? Absolutely.
Do I think they think their choices out? Honestly, I think they do better than other MMO's. But you can't predict everything nor can you predict everything accurately and at least they tend to fix things.

Also @Souljacker, no thanks to fighting claim bots for Hunts. That can stay in XI. (There, I cherry picked something else from your post)

Whelp Yoshida said they planned out at least 4 years now, so unless it's based on the current style of game, don't bet on anything changing for at least 4 years unless they planned out massive overhauls of certain systems.

First of all, snippy comebacks, are nice but aren't very much allowed. Also we were discussing the fact that you claimed other MMOs were balanced with the same features. I stated that if that were true, we wouldn't be seeing a huge number of people renew their subscriptions. Especially since we just had Wildstar, the wildly hyped MMO, that just came out.

Also you made it pretty clear you've never played many MMOs and the various variations of them when you stated.

Regardless, Hunts are proof that not everything in the game is set in stone.

Yes, every MMO is designed differently and so they each approach a concept differently. The average MMO player believes they can approach the same concept the same way each time.

For example if we design a game to be a knife and another to be a mallet and we approach an orange to try to open it. The game design with a knife can effectively cut the orange open but probably won't do as well going blunt force. While the mallet is going to pretty much blunt force the orange open but probably can never cleanly slice the orange open.

One concept but because of the difference in design, different approach.

Since if you actually kept up with what they tell us, you would know they potentially have an overhaul of the class/job system coming. Since if you noticed, a lot of what they say 'no plans to' are stuff that usually contradict their (his) design philosophy for the game. Very, very rarely do you see MMOs overhauling itself with every update that changes it completely from the initial design, especially within that short period of time. For example it's pretty clear the battle system won't be changing that dramatically anytime soon because they want this style of battle system.

We already new something like this would come as they mentioned it, we just didn't expect it to be done this poorly. since it was last minute and all for this particular update.
