PVP - Ideas & Expectations!!

So this thread sums up to: "Waaaah I don't like PvP because another player might expose how bad I am at the game, don't implement it SE so that PvP fans can't have fun and we can all fight easy monsters together AS FRIENDS."

If you don't like PvP, then why bother posting in the thread? It's not as if you would be FORCED to participate. Back on topic, here are my only expectations for PvP if it's ever implemented:

1. Team based. Get that hurr 1v1 duel i pwn u nonsense out of here.
2. Objective based. Shouldn't be PURELY about killing each other.
3. Balanced seperately. FFXI did this pretty well after a while (in 60 caps at least). A WS that does consistent 1k+ damage in a PvE setting should obviously be toned down to deal like 500-ish during PvP.

i think most people dont mind pvp in a controlled area or arena. As long as class balance is made for and only for pve then there isnt a problem with pvp.....in a closed arena =)

It has already been confirmed that there are no plans for open PvP (which is a *** thing to begin with). I don't see what the fuss is about.

FF would be the BETTER game ever. If SE implement this they will have a BIG weapon in their hands... that would be awesme!!!!, an instanced WoE with a certain players in each team!!!
People still playing Ro because WoE are awesome, and WoE in this game would be like the god of MMORGP.
Now, i think SE isn´t too capable to make something like this......

False. For as much as I loved WoW's PvE content, the one thing I hated more than anything about it was that it was entirely balanced around how classes performed in PvP. Specially after Arena was introduced. CLasses were buffed and nerfed because of PvP, and I don't want to see that nightmare repeat itself here. You don't grow weary of PvP until you see it nerf your class or favorite spec because of people's crying. Hence the "got killed by x class, going to forums" jokes.

I take it you didn't read my entire post or ever take part in FFXI's PvP. They balanced PvE and PvP seperately. Multi-hit WS were nerfed for PvP, not PvE. Sleep was nerfed for PvP, not PvE. Provoke was adjusted for PvP, not PvE. See what I'm getting at? This isn't WoW so the balance issues that come with open world PvP are not present.

Unfortunately, you do a very good job of emulating exactly why I don't like having PvP in a game... because of asinine behavior like this.

Not liking or wanting any part of PvP doesn't mean people aren't competitive, or overly pacifists, or wimps, or whatever other 'care bear' terms you want to associate with the idea, it may well just mean they don't appreciate the hostile, trash talking, aggressive behavior often shown by at least someone during most rounds of PvP.

They might also just not like to lose... but players like that just don't PvP and they're done with it, no more worries.

The point is, the open, anonymous nature of the internet fuels un-sportsman like behavior that just isn't called for. There's nothing wrong with trash talking and messing around with actual friends that you're well enough acquainted with to understand, but it 'is' wrong in MMO's with people you don't know in the slightest.

So by all means, keep PvP out of XIV. And keep making posts like you have been... maybe that'll help convince the Devs that they don't want to foster such a community here.
