You know in FFXI Monks could use staffs, right?
Monks and White Monks are not "Hand to Hand Specialists" like Pugilist are they are Damage Dealing and Self Healing Specialists who sacrifice themselves to heal others, use their spiritual energy to deal damage, and are proficient at martial arts including weapons like Staffs, Nun-chucks, and flails/clubs. White Monks specifically have access to basic White Magic and are more proficient with staffs then fists.
They use Poles which in ffxi was called staff but not that not point how can you call yourself a monk if you using a ward? or a pole arm? using a title system is a lazy way of doing it because they don't want to remake the class system and turn them into more of a job system.
i guess i'll wait for release and see how it is maybe it good maybe is lame like am thinking. Pretty much if i unlock monk right now and my pug is 50 my monk would be 50 which they pretty much did noting but give me a nice cute title saying you now a monk if they do give you spell,ws,ja for monk you have 50 level of learning to do.
@Cairdeas am talking about FFXI monk which they use hand to hand combat which FF7 also use which was tifa. Even real life monk can fight without issue there just more spiritual and only use fighting if they most. Pugilist is pretty much boxer which that what there are i don't even know why there using hand to hand wep that monk would use but w/e.
i still like a job system where you really become the class not just get a title.
So what about the stats on the weapons? :S I really think that each class/job should get a set weapon range :) I think it's strange that a Conjurer would be using a bow? or guns?
Also what you mean by locked to classes?
"Gladiator Unlocks the quest for Paladin and once you unlock it you can only equip the Paladin Job as a Gladiator."
IE Jobs are locked to the weapon that unlocked them for their quest.
AS far as Levels go for jobs. I'd like to see them have Job Levels where each time you do a party event you get job points for your currently equipped job that lets you raise it up from Job Level 1 to Job level 10 and each job level unlocks a job specific skill or job trait.
Like it hard to grind in the start with -.- dam casual players they pretty much made a dumb job system where you just are now Monk and lock to only using monk type spell,ws,ja. If they made it more like ffxi but made it so
Level up PUG to 30 you allow to unlock Monk or THF or you can just go on level up PUG.
If you unlock monk you start from level 1 with your own spell,ja,ws and you can't hybrid.
The better idea was to delete the full Class system and add jobs not even wow have hybrid anymore they limit it so much that you can only put a few spell from the other tree now unlock before.
@Cairdeas making it so pretty much only sword can be PLD? that not a very good system i don't even know why you want that -.- oh god cairdeas from all the years i know you from eorzea you do have weird ideas and not to be rude there pretty much dumb.
If that how they going to do it then FFXIV have no hope.
that is what i just said. That is adding a layer to the class. Not a role.
He didn't say it was seperate. But also not a class +1 But an added layer to it. Which is what you just described and what I was trying to say.
And also there is a way to not be under that "job" when soloing or in casual parties. These jobs add more deffinition to our classes.
-.- you joking right yes there hybrids but at the end it's have it own Role FFXIV is way to hybrid and just adding something on top of a system is not very great in my books they should have made it how i said You unlock Monk from Pug go level up monk from level 1,.
and btw how is blue mage a hybrid? it use spell from other mobs that it role copy cat Red mage may be hybrid but it never can be as good as a Black mage or a white mage or a time mage or a warrior it suck at all of them the good thing about red mage is it have Endspell and other spell which make up for it and make its is own job.
