I want this game to be less generic than any other MMO.
I never played WoW or FFXI but they don't really have much to catch your eye on here.
Oh look a tree. At least fix dated combat, add the skillchain whatever things from FFXI.

If you put FFXI Launch and FFXIV 2.0 Launch side by side, do you think FFXI had more content than FFXIV 2.0? ( I wasn't there for it's release sadly, but I like to know if XI Launch was better than XIV 2.0 Launch.

The game became bad after Aht Urhgan. The book burning parties ruined the game... You obviously weren't around when the game used to be great!

I can't find the link, but someone once posted a timeline that basically shows it was AS Bad, if not worse...

Um.. OP, are you aware that Named Mobs are in WoW, and a FATE-like system is not? (At least, it wasn't up to right before the Lich King expansion which is the last time I touched WoW thank gods) People really need to stop throwing around the "ITS WoW!!" thing when it doesn't apply. Because it doesn't apply to FF14.

Anyway, there are plenty of nice things from FF11 that they could adapt to FF14, but I don't think NMs is one of them. I think they should just tweak the NM-FATES they have now to make them more rewarding/exciting.

IIRC Jp FFXI launch didn't actually have a complete storyline in it, much like FFXIV 1.0... but that was over a decade ago when people couldn't download a heap of quality free MMOs in an afternoon and play them without ever needing a subscription.

OK, so let me throw my hat into the ring, I really don't post things into the forums and I just sit back and read complaints, compliments, etc about FFXIV: ARR.

The above image is a viewpoint I see. The stems of the rose are to signify the popular MMOs while the leaves on the stems signify the MMOs that attempt to copy the popular MMOs. The thorns are the players, developers such as Yoshi attempt to brave the thorns and add another stem to that tree however what I have been seeing on the forums is "I want another WoW, another FFXI, another Everquest." Why not give Yoshi a chance to separate XIV: ARR from the other MMOs? Yes I know he takes ideas from other MMOs such as the monsters and jobs seen in FFXI and other FF games with concepts seen in Everquest and WoW with the group system, etc. Give the developers credit and give it a chance to become something new over time, not in a day.
