I know how toxic some NNs can be. I also know how much good they can bring. I've been in several world servers'/ datacenters' NNs (I have 15 roleplay characters and two gameplay characters) and interacted with and observed all these different NNs. Some NNs I happily engage in and find pleasantly open, others I tab out almost immediately in sheer distaste. I full well know what I'm talking about.

You, on the other hand, simply seem to have a vendetta against NN itself that you would happily wish for its destruction over a minor issue that could be easily solved through far less nuclear means if SQex ever bothered to. Besides, Excalibur is in Primal isn't it, not Æther? You don't have no chicken in this fight.

Would we reach the point in FFXIV where there is no longer a Novice Network? Would that be the only way to stop the problem? If this awful person can continually make alts and jump worlds and evade an IP ban & payment method ban, I don't see any other way to stop the toxicity.

As somebody else mentioned, we take hate speech & hate crimes seriously in America. If this were to blow up on social media, Square Enix would have quite a headache on their hands! In their defense, I don't see a way to fix the problem, other than removing the NN for some worlds or all worlds.

Hate speech isn't even recognized as a legal term in the US as most things that would be considered hate speech are legally protected by the First Amendment.

Nor am I a mentor, or have access to the NN. I just recognize that the removal of NN - and in extension mentorship - would not only solve this issue, but many others plaguing this game, in my opinion, as I stated before. Rather than a vendetta, I only have an altruistic motivation in this fight.

Road to hell is paved with good intentions, you know. Especially if the intent is based on ignorance and false understanding.

You're not a mentor, never been in NN, so what makes you qualified to make grand claim that the removal would erase this and 'other' issues? What 'other issues' anyway? Were you even there before they implemented mentorship that you can confidently claim that mentorship is the source of the plague?

I am not a mentor currently. I have principles, so I dumped my crown and mentorship as soon as I saw just how toxic it is, years ago. I have been in the NN, and saw it for the mess it was. Mentors kicking people over disagreements, using it as an exclusive general chat, ignoring new players to talk about random topics. I know for a fact the game would be better off without it, at least without an overhaul - specifically the removal of the mentor program.

In addition, this whole problem, the problem in this thread, looks to be a disgruntled player. Someone who is specifically targeting mentors and the Novice Network. Removal of the NN would no doubt solve this issue.

Maybe it's like that on Excalibur, but from personal experience, it's not like that on Midgardsormr, Goblin or Malboro.

So, despite it being years since you saw these things in on NN, you believe that every NN functions this way. I've got principles, yet I still stick around my NN to help people if I'm able. Is the mentor system flawed? Yes, very much so. But I don't think it's right to go nuclear on the entire thing when it actually does do some good. Maybe not everywhere, but enough to matter. I'm always open to improving the system, but I've seen first hand how great it can be, and I have also seen the other side of that as well. Still, you cannot give an accurate assessment of the current situation if you haven't actually dealt with it in years. I'd recommend server hopping and seeing what various servers have to offer. Basically saying "Excalibur's NN sucked years ago, therefore the entire system needs to go" isn't really doing you any favors here. In fairness, I used to have a similar mentality after dealing with my server's NN (also years ago), but when I returned to it after getting my Mentor status again...it was a completely different experience and still is. I'm proud to be a mentor in my NN. It says a lot when a Mentor in a flawed system is actually proud of something. lol

I've never even been on Excalibur's NN, this isn't the server I started on either. I transferred here. I have been on Gilgamesh's NN, an Aether world ironically, and it was a complete mess. I was on a sprout, by the way, so that just added insult to injury. It makes total sense if and why the player in this thread would have a grudge against Aether NNs specifically.

Frankly, I don't see what your "perspective" has to do with the topic of this thread or the conversation. I'll gladly argue in one of the many NN or Mentor threads - I always post in them, and have been doing so for years. Here, I assume, we are looking for solutions to stop this player. Getting rid of the NN - and in extension mentorship - would no doubt do so, full stop.
