Housing Ideas and Feature Requests

I don't know if this has been said on 140 pages of comments but:
1- Offer a real ammount of plots for each account or the population playing.
2- Place restrictions over accounts e.g: Only 1 character in someone's account would be able to get a personal house for each server. So that would prevent housing speculation. Regarding the chance of FC's ownership likewise. If this is extended for each datacenter, even better to prevent RMT transactions in-between servers at the same datacenter.
3- If this kind of housing is giving you problems to be implemented, consider it being instanced.

Just logged in to say that I suddenly got really excited at the thought of being able to put the Dead Man's Chest inside my aquarium and have sunken treasure (especially because the water removes that god-awful glow on it)... then I realized that for whatever the reason the Dead Man's Chest is a FURNISHING and not a TABLETOP. Dammit SE.

I must say, the lack of plots is scandalous on Moogle. It's REALLY annoying not to be able to buy a house (a large house in my case), especially when the only thing I like in the game, before the 4.0 release, is housing.

Last time plots were added, they were all taken within an hour... if that is not an evidence we really lack some plots...
I know ~20 ppl in my case, desperatly wanting a house, but it's like there are not even half the plots to fulfill the needs of the server. Some people I knew left the game because they didn't want to pay for something they couldn't have. Free plots checking has become a war that only nolifes can win, and, of course, speculators.

But heh, new plots will be added in... 9 months. Amazing. And the prices will probably be doubled. The frustration will win over my patience before that !

Unfortunately a lot of people are vying for those large plots and there's only 216 of those per world. You might see a handful open up in 5-7 days when the houses in the new wards reach their 45 day timer for auto-demolishment, but those'll probably be snagged fast. Medium plots are the ones that usually linger.

Since they made it so furniture can't sink into the environment, I think the best we could get is an above ground hot tub.

Awh, what a bummer. Was hoping it'd sink in and we could sit in it like how we can sit in chairs and stuff.

how about we start with something simple?

more story based character pictures/portraits etc to hang on our walls.

i would love to have Aymeric and Estenien on my wall.

having more of those available would be an excellent and easy start. :)

Just more pictures in general. The selection is very small. They could start off by giving us the loading screens. They would look really good.

A few things some have no doubt mentioned, but worth repeating.

The wall partions (oasis in particular if not the wooden ones) need to be either dyeable, or can use the wallpaper like other walls - preferably both. You should also be able to put a wall hanging onto them like any other wall. I also have no clue why doors are such a big deal - create one of each partition with a door in them for heaven's sake.

The windows are so pokey and horrible, they look awful on the outside, and are useless on the inside. As I understand it, each house/apt is an instance, you can add some scenery. I'd love to see some much larger stained glass windows personally. I do see how tricky it would be to add a balcony where you actually ended up standing on what you can see outside the house due to the instance, but you could add one to the instance with its own view. (and yes, you'd all have the same view of lavender beds or mist etc etc so no fighting over a plot due to "views")

and for the apts - a little feature rather than a big empty room. For instance, something very simple like the design of the squadron room, with the split level at the back. and/or the balcony idea.

OMFG yes please. Some very nice wallpaper just doesn't look good with any partition at all. Related to this I'd like to see some dyeable wallpaper.

While not the same, you can create something vaguely similar through the power of furniture combination :3
What you need is the Oriental Bench, a large Garden Pond, some extra big mossy stones and then hide the Nexus Teapot in them to get steam rising up from it.

You need to limit houses on an account basis. Everything added is just content not accessible to other people because there are greedy people with like 7+ houses on your servers. It's stupid. SE's continued incompetence on this issue is unacceptable.

It would be nice to have false windows that you could place anywhere. Especially large ones.

Smaller crafting furniture like sewing machines that fit on table-tops and be used regardless of character level. It would save a lot of space in apartments, imo...

I know there are alot of pages here and i just cant go through them all, but we have a Moogle themed house and a Chocobo themed house, would anyone else like to see Tonberry themed, or Cactaur, etc?

my FC is tonberry themed so i'd love to see that.

Housing really could use a huge amount of improvements se, please set aside enough resources to make it equal to other games :)
All my past suggestions still stand ..housing sees very poor improvements and ultra slow. ughhhh

-availability of all sized housing to all needs to be top priority
-item limit needs to be doubled asap been at limit and floors empty for 2 years...getting very boring. (no need for more furniture added to the game until this is addressed)
-copy Rift UI and allow us to build whatever we can imagine (would be difficult, I realize that, and Rift has mastered it, and I understand se is very new to it...but in time, slowly allow us to CREATE not just place predesigned copy past furniture. tyty
-frame screenshots to hang
etc etc...

Can we please have:

1. Stained glass windows that can be used in our apartments/rooms/FC houses?
2. More variety in the wall and floor patterns that can be crafted, and not be 2 or 3 star crafts?
3. Reissue past seasonal furnishings, especially the Empty Twinkle Boxes, Snowmen, Eastern Cherry Trees
4. More x10 use foods for seasonal events, I loved the Pumpkin Stew that you did, but can we get something besides the Starlight Cake and the Starlight Dodo for the upcoming Holiday season?
5. Just a little more room for furnishings would be nice for the rooms/apartments/fc houses. Doesn't have to be 100 more or anything, even 25 to 50 would be very nice.
6. Upping the training furniture for crafts, maybe jack the level to 50 instead of 40? And can we get all the crafting furniture non-restricted? We have a Med. fc house, and we have 6 of the crafting furniture in the house, plus 1 crafting furniture in my personal room since I couldn't get 7 in the fc house. Thanx

To me, the 1st need is to remove that stupid limitation. I have a large house, 200 pieces of furnishing is just enough to make 1 floor and a half. The entire lower floor is empty because i reached the limit... They kept adding new furnishings at each update, but the limit stayed the same, which is ridiculous. Same goes for the garden... 40 ? really ??
To the very least, the items you can put on tables shouldn't count at all. An ashtray taking 1 space, as much as a wall. Sure.

A slipper shelf that automatically glamours peoples shoes into slippers while inside housing and apartments and dispels after exiting.

I don't know if this has been suggested already. I think it would be really neat if they made it so you could 'upgrade' your plot. Say you have a small, but you want a medium? You get the gil for it, you upgrade it to a medium. Your plot size changes. The map would have to change drastically to allow this to happen, of course. I think it would eliminate a lot of competition, create a suitable gil sink and maybe with the loss of ps3 it would be possible. Not everyone even has a house, but those who do have houses just want to move up from the house size that they have.. which creates MORE demand. They could even make increasing the item limit a gil sink. There's too much gil floating around in the game as it is. Instead of it being traded between players I think some of it needs to be taken out of the game completely (if that makes any sense at all.)

- Guestbook! As a craftable tabletop item, friends who visit your home may write a fun greeting.

- Family portrait! Place a screenshot of your FC or you and your spouse into a frame like the large portraits of Louisoux, Minfilia, etc.

- Different outfits for in-home merchants? The default outfits are super boring. It'd be nice to have them complement the home a bit, perhaps with the regional outfits sold in the Gold Saucer.

Oh yeah, one more!

- Trophy/crown case! Perhaps even just a wall-mounted shelf on which you can display your crowns. These crowns represent some great achievements, but they don't lend themselves to good glamour. It would be nice to be able to show them off if they don't complement your character's aesthetic.

Would it be possible to remove the invisible portion of the mounted bookshelf so it can go flat against the wall? I'd just like to use it on one wall instead of across an entire room, but there's a forced gap if I'm making it face forward.

Would like a day/night playlist (or ability to split current playlist of 8 into 4 daytime + 4 nighttime tracks) for Orchestrion. Would greatly (imo) increase the immersion if the Orchestrion can timely play the upbeat tracks during daytime and soft tracks during nighttime.

with this many posts on this topic I'm sure this has been posted but - mannequins like XI did or at least something I can display my collection of weapons/armor that I didn't npc sell or desynth....

Another thing is the Eastern wares NPC in Mor Dhona should sell futons!

Yes I did see this when surfing the web a short time ago. You know what's really crazy is that the person who I saw do this actually created a whole flooring with those tables! it was pretty awesome I have to admit! Only problem is that I didn't see that till after I did my room and I am reluctant to redo the whole room for that... and only using a piece wont quite work for my layout. But still brainstorming!

Yeah, I would love to create a large flooring area too, but it eats up too much item slot. Which is why I raised a requested for a raised platform + more tabletop attribute thread elsewhere, but it doesn't seem to attract as much attention as I'd hope for...

First of all, let me say I absolutely adore the fall additions that were made!! The ginko and maple trees and leaf piles are delightful! Though I was thinking you could also do a remodel of the flowering cherry in a rustic brown so as to keep the tree -shape-, but have it shedding lovely fall leaves like the other two for those who wish to change the look of their yard seasonally. Perhaps a "raked leaves" item which is an actual pile of leaves? You could make it so characters can glitch into it. That'd be half of the fun, actually. "Jumping in" and hiding in the leaf pile! Maybe you could involve the terrain motion detection that makes characters' feet kick up dust and grass, only have it kick up leaves whenever they move around in it? Just a thought!

Going into winter, I'd love to see more decorations available for this time of season as well. As mentioned before, I adore the idea of being able to change out the yard seasonally, which is hard when there are no "winter trees" other than the Starlight evergreen ones. Maybe do some naked tree limb models, slap some "snow" and icecicles on the branches and have them shed snowflakes at-random like the fall/cherry blossom trees do? I would also suggest "snow piles" if my suggestion below wouldn't be feasible .

Maybe release the existing tree forms, but in snow covered options? Snow-covered cherry tree/ginko tree/maple tree/shroud broadleaf/desert ironwood/island palm? Take what is already there, but add snow to it so that people can acquire or even purchase a version of these items which helps to give their living space a more seasonal feel that isn't necessarily related -only- to a holiday. (speaking of, I'd recommend this idea for "fall versions" of these same items.)

Lastly and perhaps a more difficult possibility but since we get to customize SO MUCH about our housing, would it be at all possible to even customize the grounds of our homes? Maybe have the "standard" which already exists for each plot, but just as you can change the floor of a room, you could change your lawn. Examples: floral ground for "spring", rich green grass with occasional yellow dandelions for "summer", leaf-strewn for "fall" and a partial or completely snowy look for "winter".

You can edit the post to go beyond the subpar 1000 char initial post limit. I'd also suggest visiting the website suggestion forum and digging through for the 1000 char limit thread and popping a like on it. Everyone gets annoyed by it, but Square needs to know enough people want it adjusted/removed. :)

As for your suggestions I'm always for more trees and a ground change. I think both have been posted multiple times before, but I like the suggestions and hope they act on them eventually. They're probably more inclined to act on changes to the inside at the moment though given how they've pushed apartments as a solution to the housing problem and those don't have a yard. Just keep hoping for more seasonal plant life (hopefully not attached to events) and some scenery adjustments! :D

Not sure if you saw the new update but you're getting your wish. Npc artists will be making a wide variety of paintings and you will have a wider selections based on your sightseeing log.

The biggest issue is they made it impossible to share your house and stuff with any Alts. So people with multiple characters buy multiple houses. It would be so much easier if they made the house account bound with a limit of 1 per server so all your alts for that server could use it.

Since we are getting more painting now, can I request for Edda's portrait please? The white ghost Edda from tam tara hm and black death-god Edda from palace of the dead. And a bonus third portrait with both black and white Edda together! 5 Gelmorran Potsherd each sounds like a fair price imo. :3
