It all lies in if Yoshida considers jumping up/down cliffs as a gameplay element or not lol.

if its just an emote then I agree it would be easy to filter, but all evidence points to it not just being an emote. I keep hearing about all these supposed games that filtering animations yet not one game is actually mentioned.
and Im sorry I guess we dont agree on what "pissed" actually is, the only two people in this thread that remotely reflected being pissed was you and Omni and that was at each other.
edit: I guess TidBones seems a bit pissed, oh he is on your side lulz
Based on the examples given I treated it as no combat application- not necessarily no other application.
It's not just an animation. You need to ignore the fact that the player is *IN THE AIR*. In other words, you need the server or your client to lie about the player's location.Quote:
Animation filters are easy to do, even junkshop MMOs have animation filters.
Anyway, one thing i'm really tired of is the argument of how easy or hard something is to implement. Unless you've made your own game yourself and you've done these things yourself, you can not comment on how hard or easy <insert feature here> is to implement.
*Isn't pissed at all* O.o
I don't see how being angry is a requirement for asking for an option. D:
Most of the people in this thread asking for the filter seem pretty damn calm to me. Not angry at all. No one demanding anything. Simply.. asking.
But oh, of course, wanting anything in a game must mean you're absolutely furious and raging! lol ;3
Sorry didn't mean to imply that all that want it are pissed, myself I say sure if its an emote then again if its just an emote then I dont even want it. If its not just an emote then I dont even think it would be possible to hide it. The only thing I think SE could do is make blacklisted characters not show on your screen, so if someone is bunny hopping all around you just to piss you off you can blist them and not have to worry about it.
I share your pain, I'll never fathom why people can't just be happy they got what they wanted or get to do what they want but will start a fight if someone else asks for something that at the end of the day the first group wouldn't even know whether or not it's being used.
There's no logical argument against this being toggleable(that's not a real word but hey), what's more is that virtually every thread takes this kind of tone. Group A asks for something, then group B not just voicing opinion in a friendly debate attacks the question, never considering how it will or won't impact them if the things asked for where to be brought into existence. Rarely providing any useful feedback just going on this super defensive that I often wonder if they even know what/why they are defending the thing or if it's just for the sake of ranting like rabid jackals attacking everything that isn't their own tail.
It's all speculation till a rep/dev comes in and says something. If it's just an emote then why not let them filter it? Even if it can be used to traverse the terrain... who cares? If they want to see people sliding up and down cliffs let them. If it's not doable then they can deal with it, but in the end that's a call the devs will make.
I'm pro jump, that's my opinion, but I don't really care if a filter is put in place for those who hate it. It's a fair compromise. It doesn't ruin my ability to jump / see other people jump so why should I give a crap if someone else can't see it.
If it's implemented "Just for the people that want to jump." and "Will have no application in game play." then there's no reason your character would actually be leaving the ground at which point well we've already got that emote now it'll just be on a button.
I don't remember what the OP said as to "IF" it is implemented with function and I'm not going to read it, I know that I said if it's a functional jump then by all means make me watch it. I'm going to now change that slightly, let me filter jumping in towns where the only practical application is none. Unless we're talking about glitch hunting and then well idc if you found your way into the wall.
On another note, dude when are you on, I haven't seen you more than 4 mins since the day we exchanged shells.
Have you been absent from class for the past 3 years? Jumping is one of the biggest issues the community has on its mind. It represents a massive shift in gameplay and weight the world has had since its inception. It is like adding Submarines and low orbit weather ballooning into the game. It is that much of a shift.
