Vahn and Kin have both produced amazing shots after elimination....
We all get a bad week at some point (or bad hair day) Was truly sorry to see these 2 go, they were in my top 5 pics, at least 3 of my hopefuls are still in the running.
I agree with this, but Tinsley's shot and my shot should have never been accepted for the 80% rule and gone through for the round-
It was unfair to us as well~ :S So right now I'm assuming that Rongi saw both sides of it and made a judgement call.
I will gladly step out of the competition or be eliminated in place of the guy with lowest votes (or whatever!) if people are really upset about that call!
Wow.. Did we really changed the rules after voting? I remember loosing votes one round because people weren't paying attention to the regulation of the shot, I had to buck up and take it with a grain of salt(I think i actually almost got eliminated for it too). That seems a tad unfair move to change now. Not trying to sound like a biootch or anything about it it's just I remember cringing and seeing Ronji post about how though my shots were great that one weak picture looked like id be eliminated that round. I skirted by by my teeth and tried harder after that. All in all id have to say that was a bad move to change and unfair to the people who did follow the specific regulations on our photo shoot list and the part where it tells us to read and reread the rules to each shot.
Perhaps we got slightly different emails but mine said:
Round 10 – Crystal Shot – I loved the way the pictures from Cycle 1 turned out, and I want to bring it back for Cycle 2. For this shoot, please take a picture with the background being at least 80% crystal! For reference, look at the pictures from Cycle 1 (Crystal Make Overs http://m.imgur.com/a/eLXUD) There are many locations in Eorzea with Crystals for you to use. They can be any color, as can your gear! Time of day/Location/Weather are all up to you!
Simple fixes
1. allow people with 1 post to count for their votes...not everyone is a forum troll and choose to post in threads that are negative...there is a lot of them here, maybe some people enjoy these kind of thread types only...
2. Drop % of such and such needing to be in the picture...so long as the theme is expressed then that is the end of it.
3. Add in a save per cycle as I mentioned earlier (this is an actual thing on SyFy Face/Off) and no it wont show favoritism it will show that people have bad weeks in real life or something that prevent getting that all epic shot in, or maybe the wrong shot was used instead...it just boggles the mind how we can go 4 or 5 shots in a row with a person near top each time and suddenly have like 3 votes, for the 6th shot or something..its obvious something went wrong that week for the person.
4. I also humbly suggest a break before the next cycle...it seems (from what I am seeing of this current round specifically) is people are burned out on not only the voting but also choosing how to implement said votes, Ninja is right around the corner as well, so why not take a step back let everyone including judges breath and start it back like first week of November?
5. Last one, I humbly ask people to take some actual time on voting, I am seeing a lot of names tossed down every week just because (this is what it feels like this cycle) What I do for my approach is I remove the person with my handy dandy awesome trying to stay in the lines paint shop cutting tool, and look at the photo itself, than compare to what the person is doing in the photo and see how they add or take away from it. It takes about 30 minutes for me to get through 6 photos, but the 6 are the ones I think have what it needs to begin with.
that's all.
one more damn thing
This Round, it's Throw Back Thursday! Our models posed with Crystals as their background, just like in Cycle 1!
Crystal color, gear color, time of day, location, and weather were all the models choice!
That was the rules for this round so for anyone saying I voted for you because you followed the rules while the others didn't....please stop it, all 6 models used the rules as stated right above. Is there crystals> check, model > check , gear color > check, time of day > check, location/weather > check
That's really impressive that you do that. But I don't think you can really ask the majority of voters to do something akin to that. It's not like we're handing them a syllabus with criteria that needs to be met other than the theme of the week. If people want to vote on the overall impression at first glance matching the theme, they should be able to do so. If they want to spend an hour going through them and analyzing different aspects, then that's awesome too.
This is supposed to be a casual screenshot contest. And I'm afraid we'll be taking ourselves too seriously otherwise. But that's my impression as a contestant, I suppose. There's nothing to gain other than a title and, hopefully, some fun. There's not really a way to judge the 'quality' of the votes since your opinion of the pictures may be vastly different to someone else, etc.
To be completely fair, what you're reading is the changed theme. The original prompt which was included in the original post and email to the contestants said 80%.
Now, I don't really care whether the background was 40%, 50%, etc. I also don't want anyone to drop from the competition because of it. But it does bring up a good point about being careful not to change rules on the fly.
I hear you on this as well. I definitely don't want photos to be disqualified at this point for it or models to step out because it.
Very true on that count, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, never judge a book by its cover...oh nvm.
The reason I stated this last one is because once again I feel people are jumping before looking (and only Kirk is allowed to do that) when it comes to votes for these photos. Btw I was almost counted you this round, it was damn close, but Jayzan had that really silly grin...
That's because it was edited AFTER the fact of voting had started, it originally stated similar to the email that the models were given for this week's criteria stating the shot had to be 80% crystal. When some voters clearly stated they didn't vote for XXX model because it didn't 'meet' the requirements.
(I had previously asked some of the models to send me the email they received so I could take some pictures for myself and post for fun even thought I wasn't in the contest as a contestant.) And this is what was asked of the models~

Wouldnt be fun to see a model drop because of it but then judges need to be fair with their scores in regards to the theme proposal and so on, if not i can be sure that the judges are quite biased and there is some favoritism going on- ouch
also for now nothing can be done about the screenies, votes and the thread so its all up to the judges at the end, it'll be quite clear
It's unfair for EVERYONE this round.
I cannot speak for Tinsley, but I submitted my Round 10 pic before Round 1 even started.
Yes, it was in that wave of photos required of us to be sent out before the contest started to have something for every round, placeholder or not!
I felt I got lucky with my Crystal picture, it'd look pretty good to me, so I never felt the need to replace it.
I never heard it was unsatisfactory or didn't fulfill the 80% rule (even it was a placeholder, it still had to follow the rules),
so I was thinking, "Hey, I got Round 10 out of the way! Nice!"
Never looked back at it.
It's unfair Tinsley and I had our shots accepted.
It's unfair that rules changed, because people could have taken possibly better pictures with <80% crystal.
And if there was any favoritism going on, I would have gotten that extension on the Chocobo Round, right??
I couldn't even log on to take shots due to being one of the unlucky people to have the 2.38 connection issues.
I still somehow made it through with a placeholder.
I voiced my opinion on the rule change this round, that's it.
IMO that 80% is a lot more significant than people think. You cannot make as good a shot with 80% crystal versus someone who uses only 20%. The words "at least" were key. Although some were better shots, they did not adhere to the 80% rule. Perhaps they should not have been accepted in that regard, or if they were, perhaps it should have been communicated to all the models that the 80% rule was being relaxed and people could redo their shots if they wanted.
My 2 gil on the matter.
When I voted it had already been edited to reflect the change, after my vote I saw a post with someone stating they didn't vote for others since they didn't follow the rules, I was privy to no insider information unlike other people here.
Also...not to point fingers or something...but

Are you 2 sisters or something? I just find it odd that you both are from same server same name and same persons voted for?
Honest question, as I said im not trying to start anything, I just found this odd.

rongi was being such a slacker then
just gonna throw this out there since i have a questionable screenshot
Once the round started and people commented on the 80% thing i prepared my good bye photo :) (no sour grapes, no salt, no whining, let the chips fall where they may I say. )
I don't blame Rongi for accepting my pic, i knew it was under the 80% requirement but i liked the shot and asked if it was ok. He made a judgement call and let it through, which i appreciate.
I didnt expect nor even thought to ask him to change the percentage stipulation once the round was posted. So, what I am trying to say is, I was and still am prepared to take my lumps in honor of fairness. It's only screenshots after all :)
From what has happened I think the only logical and fair solution is to call this round forfeit and then create a bonus round to replace it at the end.
Allowing shots that did not meet the criteria and then changing the criteria to still allow the shots after the fact, puts the credibility of the entire event at risk.
Honestly, the change to how much crystal made me grumble. My first choice shot for this round was taken on the red dragon floor of ST, but after looking at the shot, my husband and I, decided that it was only about 70% maybe 75% at most crystal. (It's got those really cool gold pillars.) So I had to change my shot. Perhaps it is unfair that Rongi didn't say anything, but we did all receive the same email beforehand. To me, this round was like writing a sestina - the constraints were so tight to see what kind of creativity the model could pull out of it. Reducing the amount of crystal seems to undermine the principal behind the round.
I find it a bit rude to ask for personal information~ but to humor you-
to be specific we're SO's, we know each other IRL and ENTM is usually a lunch conversation we carry out for fun ;) This week we felt certain ones were really stand out, thus our votes reflect that being similar~ But if you really want to go out of your way multiple other rounds we've voted differently~ 5/7/6 I'm sure others we've voted differently and other's we've voted the same we both have various opinions but just happened that this round we liked the same top 3 (and honestly because we can only vote on three I don't find it that odd as there are multiple others who've voted the same who we don't even know @w@)
I followed your maid cafe and your personal chibi commission threads( man i wanted a cute chibi so bad XD) I always assumed your siggy was the two of you not the same person tbh. Just kinda throwing that out there.. mostly because I wanted to say how much I loved all those little arts you did!
Your shot was gorgeous! ( I also wanna kudos your Siggy. I freaking love that siggy, its sooo pretty :o)
@NarikoStar
I apologize again, as I stated I wasn't trying to start something, I just found it odd that the last 3 rounds were identical and with everything going on I myself wanted to have sound mind that this thing wasn't also being rigged, please know that I do not personally think anyone to be doing as such, and in know way want to appear as if im trying to single people out, it was just that I noticed 2 similar names with the last 3 rounds that were spot on same people voted for, I honestly cant think that wouldn't make any person raise an eyebrow at the very least.
also as stated above I figured it with the sig that you were 2 separate people, if I knew how to have done a pm instead I would have, trust me. I was more concerned/curious,
again apologies for thinking otherwise
Well, the question is.. what to be done about it?
replace the 80% stipulation on the first page? is it too late to do that?
just let it ride out? im low man on the totem pole anyway
disqualify models? i'll accept that fate too
restart the round with all proper screenies? eh.. throwing ideas outthere
i hate to see an honest mistake snowball into tainting this event to an unrecoverable point
anyway, it's my bday so im off to have some fun <3
OMG HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! *bakes you a cake!*
I dunno.. but it's these little changes that only really bring out the drama in here. Changing the rules for people who are upset while not doing it in previous rounds, Letting people stay safe due to drop outs then making it seem like someone cant drop out and save the one with less votes(though that one ended up panning out)
It's giving people saves and not other people. If your gonna run this thing and hand out little saves sometimes then tell other people that's the way the ball rolls it upsets people or makes other people wonder about the validity of the contest. fix by giving everyone a save of no one gets a save.. but def don't change rules half way through.
Imo though.. I think the best way is no elimination(a bday present? :3) this round no double elimination(were down to 6 after all..) and the last round have 3 people, it be a first second third thing. it makes the last round a little more exciting
I am a little sad that the only way to really fix this round is to forfeit this round because I really like this round and im dreading the next :(
Considering this is for fun and all anyone here wants is to see screenshots by the models, why not make the next round a double elimination?
The one change that would need to be made is that points wouldn't carry over from this round to the next to make it the most "fair" for everyone.
Humans make mistakes, its the one constant I think we all can walk away from this with certain agreement.
That said, HAPPY BDAY Tinsley, for some awesome mind blowing cakes go here > https://www.facebook.com/Dinacimarustiart
Hi there,
I normally just keep to myself and just read, but I felt like I needed to say something. You guys are entitled to feel the way you do about all sorts of things, but I do think that maybe Rongi just has a lot on his plate right now and just maybe made a mistake? He started ENTM for fun and to create a cool contest to bring out the creativity in all the contestants. Some of the pictures has made me see more beauty in the FFXIV game as a whole! It is a cool idea and everyone has taken wonderful screenshots. Everyone makes mistakes and I'm sure it will be addressed, all I'm saying is maybe he should be cut some slack? This is a giant contest compared to the first one.
Of course, nobody has to acknowledge what I've said at all since I haven't spoken really at all in the thread. I'm just a fan and like the ENTM idea. ^^
Yepyep, he just got done with a bunch of exams and is probably enjoying some well-deserved... Archeage?
Forgot what he said what game he was playing~! I'm certainly not angry with him...
I totally see FFXIV's environments in a different and new way after being in ENTM.
Like the other day I was by Haukke Manor, didn't realize there were lights in the windows at night time. It was a pretty blue!
And I believe it was Fog weather, so it looked almost serene yet eerie at the same time x.x
And then I noticed those nasty round fruit things on the ground in Costa... x.x
All these environmental things I missed while in the rush to level up, I'm noticing a lot more now because of ENTM.
Happy Birthday, Tinsley!
Happy Birthday Tinsley :D
Upset? I was confused why my picture was accepted at all if it didn't meet the requirements...
Nobody knows why he made that call.
He asked us what should be done about it and I voiced my opinion.
And I already said I would leave or be eliminated if I had to be because of the change. :S
What's upsetting is the finger pointing and the not-so-sly remarks flying around (not just toward me).
i find it weird that some people sent in the screenies that fits the requirements as a priority instead of sending what might've been a lot better with less crystals in the b/g yet some others sent their best shots when its obvsly bellow the requirements cause they thought their shots were too good, much contradiction in regards to respecting the rules and being on the safe side, cool, it isnt just about rongi's decision/call but common logic here plays a part too ^^"
Edit: Thanks Ciara for complimenting my shot/siggy xoxo <3
Perhaps I was a bit harsh when I wrote that and im sorry. But I would say that you were upset and it was enough to have the rules changed and make even more people upset. I won't lie, im a little upset.. I worked really hard on my pictures to make req and I don't always get the best criticism but I don't get defensive about it, I just kinda deal with it and work at making it better. I am also upset that due to the changing of the rules people who might have gotten votes will loose votes based on the new criteria. Im not trying to be mean, Ive loved you in almost every round. But I am being honest too and I do feel I have a right to be a little bit snarky when the rules were changed last minute to conform to other peoples shots that didn't really meet criteria. Even Tinsley said she knew her shot wasn't enough crystal but loved the shot and wanted to share it and hope for the best. Kurris shots are also quite risque and pay off for her (love them btw kurri) You guys took a risk, and it may play out or may not.. but things shouldn't have been changed for it. We are all here to share screenshots aren't we? That was my main goal. I got my chocobo shot in so if im eliminated now I go happily knowing I shared shots I loved, even if they weren't always the best shot I had for the round. Anyways that's my two cents and im done with this.
It was unfair for everyone.
I already expressed my thoughts on this pages back.
I'm sure it'll be addressed and clarified, and if I need to leave, so be it!
No more grumbling, people!
I love waking up to this stuff!
Everyone, you have 72 hours to resubmit your crystal shots with literally an unarguable 100% Crystal Backgroud. If there isn't 100% Crystal you will be disqualified. These shots are due by 11pm on Monday. (Going to Dallas on Sunday and wont be back til Monday.)
I didn't change the rules, I just removed the ~80% because all it was causing was "hey! Your pictures not ~80%!! Why did Rongi accept you?!" arguments between models, something I hate seeing.
If I felt they were ~80%, I took them. Rules didn't change, I just didn't want all the models to be judged on that ~80% since it's going to be different for everyone, as obvious by the fact my ~80% wasn't nearly as ~80% as everyone elses.
Anyone who brought up bias again can go fight titan for the rest of their lives. Seriously?
Meh.. I don't want to take a new shot anymore..
The way this whole thing has been handled lately leaves so many questions.. (no not that kind of question)
To those who voted, <3 u you guys are great and I especially hold high kudos to you of those who gave advice, critisism and made this so fun!
Ronji, it was a great game im sorry all the shit seems to hit the fan for you. My advice to you would be to stay on your game plan, don't change things and keep being awesome. I know you love all your models but try not to let peoples opinions on these things upset you so much. I mean we as the models can't really let that affect us, you shouldn't either <3 Hopefully I see you on Archeage someday!
I was gonna drop out here.. but thats not fair to Ronji. He worked hard and this late in the game its rather childish for me to do. SO I guess *edits post* Whatever happens happens. Im not retaking my shot though. If that means im last place because people seen it and then took shots so be it.
Are you serious about the reshot? If I were still in I wouldn't want to... maybe other models will feel the same? If so you'll suddenly have many drop outs. It'd be a shame. Just leave this round as is IMO. Yeah it's been messy but hey-ho. I dunno why anyone would think it's a rigged contest, there are no prizes involved lol.
PS. Happy Birthday Tinsley!
