Even today in Xi the relic quest still reguires a lot of effort on the part of the player even though it got nerfed, the same should apply here.

You make absolutely 0 sense and constantly contradict yourself.

GameDEV creates RNG system and tunes the droprate according to a targeted average across the player population.
Lets say this average is 400 FATEs for a single set.
That would be 33.33 FATEs for a single Atma or, if you look at infinite sample sizes, a 3% dropchance.

Now all they have to do in order to eliminate player frustration is add a failsafe. Lets be mean and make it 2x the average. So after 66 Fates, Atma will drop.

The average player will still complete around 400 Fates, which is the intended target effort by the DEVs.
A few lucky ones will get their weapon faster and feel awesome in the process. (gambling aspect preserved)
The unluckiest of the unluckiest will get their weapon after 792 FATEs. They will still feel unlucky, but they know their effort is rewarded in the end.

THAT is proper game design. And that is how it should be done.

Again, just to be clear: I am NOT saying "make it easier". I am saying "cut off the extreme low end of the RNG spectrum, in order to eliminate unnecessary player frustration".

We dont know what the average is that the dev's have in mind we can only guess or estimate based off what others have said, now we also have to take into account that players tend to exaggerate on both sides so its inaccurate. No matter what they do some player will get frustrated thats just the way it is. I have given suggestions on how to increase your chances and again form a party it dose help, but it seems that players just want to solo everything instead of doing something as simple as grouping up.

Your fail safe is too low and as I said again this is a long term goaled quest line and it should require time and effort it shouldnt be set low. 200 fates would be fine seriously it takes all but 5 mins to complete a fate in a group, it would also assist new players to the game and it provides a goal a player/s can see. Now lets keep the rng so now you have a chance at getting a lucky drop or you have to do those 200 fates I would think that is generous, but I do see what your saying.

Little distracted watch for a fate to pop.

Yeah, then you'll find me on the "man up and learn how to play" side.
Because not being able to kill EX-Primals is a problem on the side of the player himself and a thing he can change (unless your Internet connection forbids it).
RNG on the other hand cannot be influenced by the player and thus is a very bad and frustrating mechanism to be used tho "cull the herd" as another poster put it.

200 * 12 * 5 = 12000 minutes = 200hrs = 8.33 DAYS of UNINTERRUPTED GRINDING.
That value is simply unrealistic.

If you don't ease this process as the games progress, newcomers will have to do Atma, Animus, Novus, Nexus, Somethingus, etcus., in order to catch up... but the amount of time they would have to sink into it will make all these steps absolutly not worth it.

In short terms, in a few patches, if the process is still that long and tedious, the relic weapon questline won't be worth doing at all. People will have other things to do other than farming countless hours on low level fates for an already outdated weapon.

Haha we agree on one thing, I can't disagree there and it would be glorious. If its a connection issue a vpn would fix that in a heart beat lol.

Naw 8.33 days is fine as I said its a long term goaled quest line besides maybe it will teach players patience. You dont need to do it all at once like a lot of players tend to do. just think of the grind in some of the F2P games 8.33 days is nothing compared to those F2P games.

Its been great going back and forth, my fate popped now time to finish the kills.

Just saying, and I know this is anecdotal at best, but...
I'm on my second round of Atma, for BLM.
5/12 in under 4 hours.
I think the drop rate is fine, honestly. But that could just be my opinion.
Both times for me it has been pretty easy.

I really don't see them continuing the Relic in 3.0.
Read somewhere that 2.4 is supposed to be the last big patch with a raid tier, so... they don't need to worry about that.

If that's true, it means that the Relic quest line is already not worth doing for a lot of people.
