RP shout ads are obstructive to chat and gameplay

My experience with it is only with Crystal, but it does seem that most venues are open the weekend so the traffic increases quite a bit. I still see FC advertisements here and there throughout the week and the occasional message that a certain FATE boss is up.

This is kinda the problem, is that it used to be used for chatting and content and giveaways etc and now it's like that channel was made for ads and nothing else. I can't speak for Eu or JP data centers or their servers , but I have experience in all of na data centers and it's crazy out here. Luckily right now it's quiet due to the typical content drought at the end of the expansion, but even yesterday while doing msq on my alt, every time I loaded into a city there was immediately 3-5 large shout ads that filled more than my entire chatbox (which has small text and takes up as much space as it can without being excessive) ... There was easily over 150 ads (on a server in aether) and these are just from me popping in and out of towns quickly between quest objectives.

My FC venue was again very lively with a lot of guests these past two nights and they used no outside advertising or shout advertisement. They used only party finder, proving that shout ads aren't even needed to have a large number of people show up at your venue. Which makes it senseless obstruction. Completely unnecessary.

What I meant is:
Generalizations about roleplayers and and RP venues, and conflating them with with nightclubs and the like.

My point is:
If people actually knew how to RP and organize properly, none of this would be an issue at all. But instead there is pointless competition and greed for fictional coin that only creates bad blood, harassment, spam and sabotage, and paywalled "roleplay" that creates bad blood because peiople don't know the difference between IC and OOC.

You'll find that most people who aren't into RP at all, and don't go to venues either, who just play the game for what it is... They don't care about the context of the ads. It's all "rp spam" in their eyes. Not that they care enough to dive deep into the differences, it's just commonly labeled rp spam for the sake of simplicity. So before you get upset about the generalization of the category, you can at least understand the reasoning behind it. It's much easier to just say "rp spam" or "RP ad" than to bother wasting time using extra words to differentiate between the types of ads that all fall under the spam category

I don't know how old you are Gordita, but this has been said by people for 30 years about video games. Kids are going to get into stuff whether we want them to or not, unless you closely monitor everything that they do. They'll learn about drug use and other things in school. On TV. From Songs. From Video Games. This stuff isn't going to go away in FFXIV. It just isn't. So your best odds, is to just monitor everything your kids are involved with when they're on the computer. Just as you would with their friends, with school, and their after-school activities.

Advertising brothels and smut to an audience of children is pretty gross. All I'm saying is they shouldn't be shouting in chats about it, keep it outta spaces where there's children. Keep it in discords and linkshells etc etc etc. Not in shout chat

If people don't agree with you, they are (as free as Square permits) to post in disagreement. That doesn't make anyone a troll.
