So anyone else tired of grinding tomes weekly for gear?

I've Canceled my sub. I went back to FF11 in November and really haven't been interested in playing FF14 since. The world in FF11 just feels HUGE compared to FF14 (FF14 really needs to open all their dungeons to the open world. Still keep the DF versions but to have all these dungeons as actual places in the open world would be awesome)

Gosh, I wish FF11 had FF14s graphics though </3.

FF14 is a Glamour collector game. I say that because gear expires so fast, that the only lasting reason to get gear in this game is for dress-up :/ and to make matters worse, there is no glamour book so I can't "Catch em all".

I'll be watching the forums and reading patch notes for FF14... I've been waiting a long time (been here since 1.0 day 1) for something new and I thought Diadem was gonna keep me wanting to play but that was DoA.. I'm done.

I wish they would've not included crafting and gathering in the grind with weekly tomes. Not everything needs to be gated by a weekly lockout SE. Crafting and gathering worked very well in ARR, and you've already nerfed what made crafted gear so strong in ARR (no more mainstat overmelds) so there's really no point in making crafting so annoying in HW anymore.

Yes... BUT!!!... only because I went on vacations for 10 days. And ended up grinding 450 tomes in 3 days 2 weeks in a row.

just maxed out bot and mine from leves and im burnt out.. dint even bother upgrading gear b/c i know the ilv bs is a waste of time. i hate this iLv bs.. that the reason i left in the first place.. now i just log on to sell stuff and log out.... doing that starting to bored me also..

Haven't bothered to cap lore in 3 weeks and losing interest. Dungeon crawling is fun, otoh doing the same dungeon x 108575894 for tokens is a chore.

you can do 4 roulettes/day and cap in a few days, no reason to grind that shit - unless you want to destroy your soul in the process.
i don't really see any other way than difficulty modes - if they made different content, for each difficulty, then it would be exactly like coil - people would complain they are being locked out of content, because of difficulty; people are ok with Alexander Savage, because there's Alex NM. If there was just one difficulty for primals, then 90% of ppl would complain - to easy, to hard, to bland.
The reason for tomes is probably so that the HC people wont go from ilv 210-230 in a day, and lock out anyone who isn't 230 - also it would make savage content, easy, within a day. So savage would have to be 230-250, which would take us back to the first problem, with locking out undergeared stragglers - XIV is all about "easy to catch up"

Honestly once Final Fantasy XV comes around I'll be playing that over XIV, like you I'll be watching it from a distance, still waiting on these "risks" Yoshida said he was going to take with Heavensward guess we got 3 more patches to see if they'll ever happen a few other friends have said they'll be playing XV when that comes. I'm also playing Final Fantasy XI on and off too, that game to me feels like a Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy XIV is a fanservice game (which most of the WoW players who populate this game complain about because they don't get the throwbacks) themepark and I'll treat it as such.

No need to farm tomes, just farm gil instead.

Or farm lv60 dungeon gear, then Ark gear and then Alex gear. Ready for ex primals with not a single tome gear.

I don't feel that way at all, not in the least bit. Then again, I never enjoyed FFXI in the first place, so I don't have this nostalgia veil that many former FFXI players seem to possess ;)
I never ever want HNMs to come back, or open-world dungeons for that matter. Your definition of "fun" - and that of many other former FFXI players who answered this thread - seems to be very different from mine. Which is fine!
But I feel like I need to say that I do not share your view.

Personally, I don't really notice the tome grind anyway, since I just naturally get there while doing all kinds of different content.
I don't even know how many I get for content X, I just notice I already hit cap around thursday to friday.
Doing one or two roulettes with my friends, complaining to them about my horrible luck on Alex token rolls, helping new fc members with their progression, doing my daily beast tribe quests on max level because I like reading their little stories and trying to get a bird I like to drop from EX primals; spending 2 evenings like that and I get to cap without every having done anything that felt like "grinding" (read: doing the same thing over and over to reach a certain goal).
I'm not against adding new, exiting ways to gain tomestones, though! :D
