The point still stands that if a poll asks about demi-beastmen and not about Viera, the result offers information about demi-beastmen, not Viera. You can draw any conclusion you want, but know that purposefully misinterpreting what the results say will lead to a conclusion that doesn't represent reality. You have no reason apart from personal bias to assume that everyone who voted demi-beastman wanted specifically Viera, and personal bias should be avoided if you care about what's true and what isn't.

It looks to me that you're purposefully misinterpreting the results of the poll and misrepresenting reality.

The poll clearly shows the popularity of the character archetype to which Viera belong over other character archetypes. That is a very clear indication that Viera would potentially be a very popular race, among the many other signals.

Not gonna happen, simply because the whole story is based on the contrast between beastmen and humanoid races, and it's clear that the warrior of light (IE: The playable character) belongs to the second group. Those wolfdudes are most probably just beastmen pushed into service of the Empire and used as auxiliaries to keep provincial rebellions at bay.

I would say that expecting Square Enix to implement more than one new race between now and when Final Fantasy XIV's popularity will be too low to support that kind of investment is very, very optimistic, probably unrealistically so.

It's pretty obvious that people that want a certain race want it to be implemented first, because chances are that (if any new race will ever be added at all), it very possibly would be the last.

Personally, I don't even care for viera. But it's really elementary to gauge which race would be more popular, and benefit the game most in terms of sales. Better sales, higher account retention and renewal, are something that benefits everyone among the player base, as they mean longer support, and higher budgets for content for a longer time.

Looking forward to seeing what this new race plays out! And hopefully we might have a glimpse of viera somewhere!

Yeah I wonder how it'll play out too. Seems interesting. I also hope to see viera somewhere. Maybe viera showing up in Return to Ivalice isn't so unlikely, who knows. Or maybe we'll see them somewhere else.

We need more sexy Demi beasts in this game, two aren't nearly enough. We already have living fridges(Roes), psychos(Highlander) and giraffes. Let those bunny ears and tails be unleashed! ヾ(*´∀｀*)ﾉ Wolfmen? Seems like a nice new enemy to crush underfoot. ouo

The lore police have spoken. You can not have fun or interesting game play if it affects lore. Lore is God and all other aspects of the game must bow before it. Heaven forbid a valley appears that allows you to sneak into Heavens Ward zones. The lore says you have to cross that bridge. The lore says beastmen are currently not WoL.

So any suggestions to game must first go by the lore police. It is not like MSQ has played fast and loose with the story. No one has died and just been sleeping. Did that need a spoiler?

On a more technical side they want armour to be as easy to make as possible. So a few NPCs getting a few pieces of gear is a huge difference from all gear being redesigned. The current excuse for Viera was just feet. That is only one slot.

What many don't seem to see is that with the ground work done (should Viera have digitigrade legs), the possibility of more unique races down the road in the life of FFXIV. Yoshi did say that he expects the game to go on for some time.

I heard somewhere that Viera was supposed to be released with HW but was pulled last minute. If that true then the base data is already in the game. I really continue to hope they will release the game. I have 3 fantasia sitting waiting to be used!

Not only Fran, all Vieras from FFXII uses high heels for anatomic reasons, it is confortable for them.

If I recall, then they were only an idea for a new race. But Yoshi decided he wanted to bring in something new instead.
And I can only asume that decision was made during the concept stage so probably no data even close to a Viera ingame atm.

No, they were part of the Au'Ra concept. IE essentially Viera concept art (no model) under the name of Au'Ra. They decided the concept was not what they were looking for in the story they wanted to tell coming into and going through Heavensward.

I dont want to see viera ingame because people will just ruin them with bubblegum hair, heterochromia and slutty glamours.

Thats kinda true + pretty sad. I would like to see and play viera but when i think about those weeaboos who would ruin the whole thing (Like you said already), i'm not sure anymore. I can literally imagine half naked Viera with neon-green hair. Nasty.

Yeah, that's true. If they wanted to add more races with digitigrade feet down the line, they'd already have the mesh for it.

Great looking race / idea, I prefer the tall/elegant version.

Much prefer the shorter version myself as combat heels irritate me beyond belief.

As much as I would HATE to see what people design with this race (Some of you are just pathetic at color coordination and character design), the chance to get to play as one would be worth it.

Long story short: If the heels are the issue, ditch them. They were a god awful addition to FFXII lore anyway.

The heel thing has been a part of the Viera ever since FFTA released.

Yeah, the feet has always been part of Viera's design. But I'm also of mind that they can be canned if it means actually allowing an otherwise Viera-like race imto the game. Roegadyn lost the Galka tail without much fuss.

Yoshi-P telling us not to give up just further indicates he's open-minded to our requests. That's great! They did put in those great wolfmen they designed into the game.... So maybe they'll be the males to Viera females???

I'm hopeful that they will add this last minute in 4.0 but doubt it.

I agree, whether they have digitigrade feet or not doesn't bother me either.
However, I would like there to be both male and female viera. I don't mind if werewolves are added as a playable race or whatever, but I'd like to see male viera, too.

If the feet are really that much of a problem they should just not wear shoes. Problem solved.

They make different models for helmets for the different races already. I honestly wouldnt see it being too much extra work adding in a model for a different type of foot, which would only be for a single race.

Sephiroth's hair from ff vii should be fine for male ;)
