I've ended up in this position fairly often - heal spamming the mob, Final Sting goes off and the ongoing damage is so great, not even Bene or Tetra/Essential Dignity gets there in time. >_<

I've been on AST a lot, lately, so.... I've gotten to the point where I focus target the original spawning Orn hornet and Cel Opposition stun them when I see Final Sting. Every now and then I'm too late (as it takes a second or two after the initial flash, to take). I find even a swiftcasted Holy is too slow to do the same thing, though. :/

As I've been saying many times on this board, the animation delays hold us back. Swiftcast gotta spin the damn weapon first(YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING ELSE TIL THIS IS FINISHED), THEN the spell afterwards, and in the case of holy, gotta float up in the air , and THEN unleash pain. Bene/tetra are truly instant, because they go off DURING the animation.

Don't take my word for it though(someone, or many will). I've been paying attention to this long enough to be annoyed by it. Many many times I wish not to be hampered by animation delays.

Many tank died and their body got bless by nothing...

The worst is litteraly holy...
Between the super long animation you have to wait for the light bomb to grow, explode and then it damage and stun...

Let's not forget the most offending animation of all. THE RAISE ANIMATION. I wont ask for anything else in this game if SE allows heals to go through WHILE the player is going through this animation..

By raise animation, I don't mean the casting animation.

I find it both a boon and a hamper - I've raised people only for a random-target AoE to appear right under me/where the person is about to raise into, or they raise just as DPS hits a checkpoint to trigger raid-wide attack that I didn't notice due to chaos (or hoping they'd wait and they didn't/didn't realize).... and they're immune for those moments and able to run away safely or just animate through the raid-damage without being effected.

But yeah... I find it a little annoying having to time myself to finally cast after their feet finally touched the floor. Otherwise, despite their bars being displayed and are clickable, any cures/benefics will just go back to me.
The amount of times it's temporary invulnerability has saved them makes me not mind it horribly, though.

Yep, final sting is just as much a tank mechanic as it is a dps race as well. By golly, we were first introduced to this mechanic back in Qarn normal so there is really no excuse for a tank at level 60 to not know how this works and just blame others for their death. If you want better DPS, bring some you know along. You depend on duty finder DPS you might as well prepare for the low-end, and what i mean those who can't even use their Heavensward skills well.

I keep chiming on the topic because 90% of the time it's the tank's fault for not focusing the bee cast bar. If they overpull knowing they don't have enough party DPS, they should know a tank buster is going to happen. We know exactly when it's going to hit because it has a cast car, just hit your immunity. I always do it when I have to. Plus it's good to use tank immunities when it's convenient because it actually helps DPS, and the healer can still stay in cleric stance to burst down the add/honeycomb as well and you'll be on your merry way alive and well. Had a pretty good pug tank yesterday that popped HG at the right time and not once I left Cleric Stance during the wall burst.

Slightly off-topic, but I feel like I've missed something vital I need answered. We can only focus target 1 enemy, and there are bucket-tons of bees usually being kited in circles in Arboretum as dps focus on the breakable wall. How in the world can anyone keep an eye on all of them at once to know which bee is casting final sting?

The short answer is that you can't. That said, you can make a educated guess as to which one will cast first.

To my knowledge (unless SE has recently changed the way this works), Final Sting is tied to a timer as well as the mob's Hp. The timer initiates at the start of the pull. If you don't kill the bees before requisite time, they start the cast. Further, if you burn them to a certain Hp marker (I don't know the exact %), they also start the cast. This means that if NO ONE is doing damage to the bees, then Final Sting will initiate based on the timer. If Final Sting is going to be based on timer, then the first Bee that you attacked/pulled will also be the first Bee to initiate the cast of Final Sting (with several others following a second later). Assuming that both Dps are attacking the honeycomb, the best guess a Tank can make is to Focus Target the first Bee that is pulled (which also requires them to be pretty fast on the button).

That said, IF you have a gun happy Dps who pushes one or more of the Bee's below their Hp threshold, then your focus target won't help you. Putting a Bee's Hp below the Final Sting threshold will initiate the cast early and change the order of which Bee starts Final Sting first. The only indication of which Bee is casting first is by watching for the visual casting animation or paying very close attention to the Hp bars in your enemy list. The odds of a Tank noticing this in the giant jumble of Hp bars and mashed up enemies is very low. So, it's really best if the Dps are on the same page about which method the group is going for.

Uh, you can, because it's not just any of the bees that cast the Final Sting. It's one specific mob, the Orn Hornet. There's one hornet per wave, and they will only cast Final Sting once each. It's pretty simple to just focus target them from the enemy list.
