Oh look it's those words again that people throw around when they want to pretend they're right without making an argument.

Could also argue it's a vocal minority who's arguing against the players wanting to keep their items as well. I mean, we can argue the whole forum is a "vocal minority."
Honestly, I was a 1.0 player, and never got to get anything from 1.0 as my PC died the day we went live (Which we told SE not to do as 1.0 was glitchy). Though my PC's death was not SE's fault its nice that even though they said the items wouldn't be brought to ARR, I glad they did for those of us unable to play 1.0 for various reasons. So to my fellow 1.0 players, please stop whining about "Exclusives". As most MMO's do away with those and make them available eventually anyway. A fair example, Star Trek Online, I had several things that were "Supposed" to be exclusive to Lifetime Members, About 2 years ago, all of those were made available to all players (Borg race, Captains Den [No loss there tbh, almost none of us lifetimers used it, but it was supposed to be ours], a ship or 2) but eventually the game companies have to do whats best for business, and that sometimes means making things that were once exclusive available to others.
Be glad you got them when you did and got to enjoy them for as long as you did exclusively, and be happy for those who also now get a piece of that history.
And another one post vocal minority statement.
No doubt, 1.0 are minority today, but in no way minority should be baffled & missconsiderated or dealt with a lack of foresight after "said claims". Sorry but with a game creating company, I do not like play on words myself.
I miss ……… sometimes.
...this topic feels like it will be going on till the next Rising event.
You received an apology. And there is no way to fix this now. Yoshi said he will keep this in mind for future events so probably they will add the word "replica" from now own. Idk why you people felt the need of creating a 117 page thread about some stupid earrings.
Do something useful instead and complain in the Pagos thread. Maybe he will apologize too and we will receive better content
You're no better, posting in here to tone police lol. Go make that eureka complaint thread you want so much and stop whining people value things other than what you value.
I think everyone here cares about the game and the direction it is taking. Idk how some earrings are relevant to that. However i believe current and future content is a far more valid reason to complain. If you care about the game that is.
Yoshi said himself, he values more the experience/memories than the material things related to them. I understand people value their memories and feel honoured for being 1.0 players. Again, some earrings arent related to that.
You can argue what you want. But this is just stupid. This is purely a thread about earrings and people who cares about showing them or think they are special. In fact, they arent more special than weapons you get from slaying primals. Would someone complain if Titan becomes unavailable for five years, and then they release Titan weapons?
I even could understand if the tattoo becomes a cash shop item, they would feel offended. But earrings...
Then go make your thread. You're not helping your cause coming in here and telling a lot of people that what they care about is stupid and instead they should go complain about something you want complained about instead.
The trick is always double down on your thoughts and ideas when ppl try to put you down your ideas on these forums. Very easy to do.
You know why the term vocal minority isnt used anymore right?
Because it's a myth and it has been proven time and time that the once dubbed vocal minority accurately represents the majority in many cases.
Businesses spend billions researching this stuff.
You might say the game has 600k active players and only 1k of them complain about issues within the game on the forums. that doesn't mean that 599k players are happy with things at all. If you consider the game has had over 10 million players according to the last thing i saw on facebook some time ago but only 600k (using your number) of those 10 million are active then why did the other 9.4 million players stop playing? I mean if the game was so good and amazing surely they'd still be playing it right???
This is where things are starting to change in the business world and a shift in focus is slowly happening. Instead of doing customer satisfaction surveys and stuff of your current customer base companies are starting to go the other way and put more focus on former customers than there current ones.
If SE invited all 10 million of those players to participate in a survey about final fantasy 14 i'd bet you'd find a lot of people stopped playing because of various issues often raised by what you dub the vocal minority.
Even 1.0 learned this lesson. In its early days every issue players raised was shrugged off a vocal minority. "don't like it go play something else..." and then square was left wondering where the hell all the players went.. Which is why one of the first things Yoshi did was announce those policies. ya know listen to your players, fun comes first. etc etc.
Essentially though if the game has 10 million players and only 600k are active. then you could say 94% of your players are unhappy with your product.
Even with a huge margin for error for things like people who want to play but cant afford to or other reasons. thats still no minority.
Wow, a whole page worth of posts vanished. Seems like every post by that person and everyone who quoted them? I wonder why.
Thank you for your response Mr.Yoshida and the apology. I have some comments in regard to your statement. If more players became more vocal about wanting a true legacy sever and / or releasing the source code, and releasing the original story regardless if it was in shambles as you have suggested would that be enough “incentive” for your company to do so? Since we are throwing everything up on mogstation for cash how about we give that a try and see if that incentive grows a bit when cash is involved. Thank you for your time :)
If you bothered to read the last, I don't know, 5~6 pages you'd see a couple points made concerning the future of this game and how it is related to this subject.
And we did speak up, en masse, about the clustermoogle that was Diadem. For weeks. We cried out even more when Diadem 2.0 was released, and yet more still when people saw the horrendous decisions made with both the Emergency Mission as a whole and the i280 weapons that came with it. Yoshida said we "should all calm down," promised Eureka would be better (as Diadem 2.0 was presented as a loose blueprint for what Eureka was to be), and then like 18 months after initially being mentioned we got Anemos. We complained about having to turn Anemos Crystals in one at a time and other super basic things they should have got right the first time around, decided chain killing monsters (their vision) was stupid and forged the NM train. Then Pagos released and that's... well that is what it is. "Please learn how to do that" and such.
We'll provide feedback on whatever we deem fit. I'm done giving feedback with regards to Dia-reka because they clearly don't give anything resembling a **** about improving it, and in return I give nothing resembling a **** about that "content." It's just another thing on the list that I won't do, which is unfortunate because there was a period of time in which I continued playing the game primarily because of tinkering with Relics and enjoying PvP (I loathe 4.0+ PvP, too, but don't care to provide feedback there either).
Has it occurred to people that make this comment that there's a reason people are/were playing XIV and not said "most [other] MMOs?"
If people just wanted WoW, they'd play WoW. If people wanted GW2, they'd play that. BDO, FFXI, ESO, yadda-yadda.
Has it occurred to people that there's a huge difference between a feature X or Y MMO has (making it a design preference) and something most MMOs have (making it an MMO staple and something that should be followed as well for success)?
Is that an attempt at "if you don't like exclusives, you should just quit and go play another MMO"? Because that can be applied to people crying about the earrings: go play another MMO that keeps their Exclusives exclusive.
That's not what that person was saying. They're saying "lots of other MMOs do this so it's fine if XIV does it."
Devaluing the content of a video game is an industry trend (see: pay to skip, pay to win), but it's not a feature. Nor is it an industry standard or a key to long-term success.
Hardly. That's the sort of BS people hurl my way.Quote:

I'd say if you don't like exclusives you're probably playing the correct game, or will be soon enough.
Honestly, what probably would've been an better idea on the Rising event:
1) Fate as it is for the Rising event - gives an REPLICA Manderville earring as a reward when you have enough tickets to buy it from the same vendor.
2) White Raven event - bring it back in a way that makes it FFXIV ARR/SB able, similar to the Bard telling the tale of said fight from the Calamity and its adventurers. Make it a trial or something or instance (non trial). Use the tickets you gain from that fight for the REPLICA White Raven earring.
I think if they had gone that route, would've been a different story or not as bad an issue. And then just put them on the mogstation a year later like they usually do (because it's a replica).
Hi. I was just wondering if the information on the Events requirements are also wrong. It says the only requirements are lvl 15. I was able to do the whole event on my Main character, that I've had since beginning. But I also have a few alt characters I did it on and I can do the little quest for the music scroll and pet following the lalafelle around, but I can not see the Guy that takes you into the instance to participate for the vouchers to give to the Rising vendor to buy any of the earrings. That means, not only the white raven earrings, I can not buy the lvl 20 earrings either. My alt is lvl 60 and past Heavensword. I also did it on a lvl 30 character. Still can not see him. So Either it was taken down or it is only for higher levels/farther in story and not posted as on the information about the event. I did play very early on, deleted my original character, lost my tattoo because I didn't like her look and never thought they would have something like fantasia at the time. lol. So yeah. I lost stuff I liked from back then as well. But I've been on this main character now for all these years. Again, though. she's the only one that was able to get the earrings, since none of my other characters can even see the Rising event fate guy.
Hmmm... I was in the free trial while waiting for my physical copy to arrive when I did this quest. All I got was that pink minion and the song roll; no sign of any vouchers or earrings. I had kind of hoped they would be sent to me when my copy of the Complete Edition arrived and I upgraded my account to a full account, but nothing else came. Some parts of this game are still new to me... anything I should look for?
there is an NPC who spawns next to the Rising Vendor, but he isn't always there...maybe it's random? Anyway, he has you do a limited-time FATE which is like an instance where you and others fight monsters in the city. Depending on your performance, he will give you vouchers. If you get 50, you can get the earrings.
Good to see people never change and still get upset about the stupidest stuff.
If you need some dumb earring to make you feel special about your 1.0 experience instead of the memories than you obviously do not have your priorities in order.
Congratulations on bumping the thread again to rehash the same tired argument that has been refuted dozens of times by now?
Cookies are next to the door, help yourself.
I know this post is dated but I feel I have to put my two-cents in as well considering that I didn't even know the White Ravens were original 1.0 items until this post because I NEVER GOT TO PLAY 1.0 (and they don't really say they are in the event either).
I assumed, as I'm sure most did when the beta/1.0 was released that the content would be fully integrated into the game and not lost forever. All of you who played then have an exclusive experience that most of us can only watch on YouTube and read about in posts like this. (You also have your Legacy Mark, which I envy.) You have backstory and broken story paths. You know just how sad Dusk Vigil really is. You know what Coerthas looked like without snow. (And Cid without a beard).
I understand that it is feels like an affront but is giving out these items as a token of remembrance (and memorial for those of us who will never get to experience it) any worse than leaving the content out to be farmed unsynced? At least this way, they retain some value, instead of just being old forgotten content that no one touches anymore because who cares about earrings that none of you have probably worn or looked at in 4+ years. The fact that they come from 1.0 makes them priceless to me. Sorry if that makes everything you did in 1.0 worthless. :/
According to you and a couple others, sure. But until y'all want to sit down and explain why you think that, the default responses and the fact that Yoshida himself responded would seemingly indicate otherwise.
They don't say much in the event, to be fair. They acknowledge the Lightning Returns event in the dialogue, but there isn't actually anything unique said to/about Legacy players. In an event supposedly dedicated to them. Everybody gets the exact same lines, the exact same way, unless you did/didn't do the aforementioned event. That has nothing to do with 1.0/2.0.
Which tells you everything you need to know about this game.
There are multiple posts in this thread showing this isn't the case and that they warned people as such. There are even more where people try to twist the words plainly stated by the development and community teams, but that's beside the point. Case in point:Quote:

Q: Do you have any plans to give a special item to players who continue to pay the subscription from now until 2.0?
A: First, you'll be able to enjoy and participate in the Seventh Umbral Era event. There'll be achievements related to that which won't be available later. There'll be achievement rewards, battles with the Garlean Empire, and other items that will be exclusive to that period.
Undersized party toggle is one of the worst things that's ever happened to this game. We discussed it about 15 pages back if you're curious.Quote:

And yes, it is somehow worse than even that. Instead of undersizing content, they just threw the item at any lv30+ player that managed the truly spectacular feat of making it through 3 whole FATEs. And, as you yourself noted, it's not a remembrance of or memorial to anything because the game doesn't even bother to tell you of the item's significance or truly even who or what it's related to. It's about as noteworthy as the Cactuar or Bomb Earrings you could pick up for a couple Gil from a vendor to most people.
It's an observation mate. People will respond to things on public forums.
BTW, if it's bait in your opinion, why did you respond to it?
Just because it's low effort doesn't mean it can't sustain me.
You took 5 seconds to respond, so it's the neighborly thing to do to return the favor.
If you have something to actually contribute, I'm more than willing to respond. Suits my cause just fine to have this thread stay alive.
It's not as if the development team didn't know how small their audience was when they came up with the concept for Ultimate. That Yoshida didn't see how few people were clearing Ultimate when he decided to say they may not remove the level sync from that brand of duties. And whether you can unsync content or not, the stuff has a very finite shelf life and appeals to a very specific audience.
Undersized party affects more than Ultimate, though. Affects more than Savage. Affects the entire game. It is one part "we, the developers, no longer have to consider this content when messing up job balance" and one part "this is free content for the casual audience." There are positive and negative aspects to both.
There's a net negative on player retention and reward value, however. On player retention, on one end there's the knowledge that what you're doing now will be easier later and on the other, that no matter how long you're away the total amount of "stored up" content will not increase because the time involved in each individual task significantly decreases. On reward value, the entire concept of it is shot so long as undersized parties continue to offer all of the rewards.
Not sure it's a healthy way to live responding to what you think is trolling, could just put me on your ignore list if it's that much of a problem, but you do you I guess.
And no, I don't have anything further to contribute to the discussion beyond what I've already posted in this thread, in fact I don't think there's much room for discussion on this topic than what's been said already. That said, I'll still make observations if I feel like it on comments I find silly.
Perhaps, but conversely I don't think it's a healthy way to live to assume everyone is a troll and should be ignored. There can at least be enjoyment found in engaging with trolls... which is about the only reason I post here for. Entertainment/enjoyment, that is, not so much the trolling.
I can't remember the last time I've blacklisted someone in game or otherwise.
I don't know that I would necessarily qualify "very subjective" as an actual observation of the argument. It's sort of like pointing to the sky and saying "blue" (da ba dee da ba daa).Quote:

I'm not even remotely sorry if that's stuck in your head now.
