I'm almost beginning to think the Development Team's efforts are wasted on this current community. They listen. They create a holiday event that is multi-stage, multi-faceted, and not only ties into the lore of the world, but adds to it!
And the response from the community is ... ingratitude?? Really??
Screw this noise. SE, next holiday give us the bells. We apparently can't appreciate anything else.
You guys are too much. This was an Easter event. I repeat, an Easter event. SE did an amazing job imo switching it up around this time and I hope the next holiday event is this well done.
The fact that this event may lead to a more dire one is already a pro, not a con.
This is ignorant...BAD PLANNING! to dissapoint your ffxiv players this bad like this when you know damn well everyones pretty much already pissed about this game...Much less write a story about it gamers dont like having to go to a website to get lore....they wanna see it ingame....also its a slap to our faces to dissapoint us with this crap much less a dodo... even if they didnt have anything planned for the end of the event and just kinda wanted to get outta it scott free dont write some stupid lore story on the website knowing itll dissapoint everyone...it was better to have never posted that stupid hatchling lore crap at all... honestly hell yeah im upset...this is BS...their BS at making mmo's....and this stupid website lore dissapointment furthers their bad game making imo....EVERYONE is upset if your not upset...then your just way to easily amused go play with legos or minecraft if your happy about this crap.
I really enjoyed the event and the final comment at the bottom of the page! It's great the event has brought more clues for a main story in Eorzea!! :oQuote:
Somewhere along the banks of the Black Tea River in Gridania...
"I see the mind purge was a success," mutters a hooded man as he slowly folds a copy of the Raven and slips it beneath his dark cloak.
"I did only what was necessary. Had we let her continue before we had completed our preparations, the consequences would have been dire," replies a similarly garbed woman huddled in the shadow of a nearby tree.
The man pauses for a moment, then slowly lifts his head to gaze upon the twin moons hovering in the night sky before whispering, "Yet time is of the essence. There are those who have already begun to piece together the clues laid out before them, and soon our secret will be a secret no longer. But until then, we must remain vigilant..."
This was awesome! Bring us more events like that! :D
I think the story ending happily with dodo baby isn't a bad turn out, but they should at least do a little in-game cut-scene or something that resemble big company a bit more than just writing something similar to fan-friction post in website D:
Haha you know what.. I am actually about to give WoW player's prop's and say that the new FF MMO community is worse than the wow community. Everytime I have seen WoW do exactly this on their own site, people love reading it and eating up the lore. Now I see a FF community, a game that is an RPG, built on lore and story, and what do we do we get upset by it... ALso ya this was a seasonal event for us to have some fun waiting for the next big thing to come out, and you complain about that as well... How far the FF community has fallen.
Why do i cringe every time i see the word "lore"?
Its the same 20-30 people posting all the time. Not representative of the community at all.
A Chocobo hatching from the egg would have been fantastic, even if it was just a tease. ^^
I'm going to throw in my praise so SE doesn't think the entire community is made up entirely of a bunch of self-entitled wankers. Others who enjoyed the event should as well. Maybe it'll help offset this incredible negativity from the people who complain and whine and complain yet still don't leave.
This was a fun event, much better than the bells in my opinion. The fluff was a nice addon, especially since it seems to actually tie into current world events. Well done SE, give us more like that.
I thought it was pretty darn good. The last bit after the image got me thinking.
Agreed I enjoyed the event very much.... on top of the part of I have since release had the sudden urge of wanting to kill all spriggans I see.... I don't know why... maybe they look so cute and tehy stole our things... either way it gave me the opportunity to hunt down a lot of spriggans and kill them without mercy >.>;;;;;
If you listen to what people have said so far in this thread, we've learnt:
People are not interested in lore. ( Yet they bought a FF game. )
That nothing has come out of the event. ( Yet SE has never stated there would be. Although it does hint at the future happenings. )
The community is negative and is full of negativity. ( Yet it's the people posting negative things saying that. )
Personally I think people should look to the future a little bit, instead of NOW. Not everything is perfect when it's launched... that's part of business.
"Hidden cloaked figures" or whatever, and all the strange occurrences happening we all know it's something to do with Arcanist or something juicy.
Aye pico I thought it was going to be a Choco.
I enjoyed the event and what it tried to do. Much improved over the last holiday. I just don't like that half of it was a blog instead of in the game. Bit of a lame copout. Cost-cutting. Corner-cutting. How can we work less and get the same...wellll you really can't.
Too much of the game is being shunted to a cheap text adventure blog. The factions are text adventures. Digging a pit in mining quest is a text adventure. The companies are text adventures. That's not pay to play caliber.
There's no substitute for quality gameplay in game playing. Physical existance counts for something. They're trying to get away with text adventuring in a generation where they plain made out like BANDITS with The World Ends With you basically being a graphic novel with a battle engine.
Videogaming. You play it. They are getting way too cheeky with their blog content. They'll try to tell you it's free auxiliary, right up until the point where they figure out you'll buy text adventure production value, and then they'll never produce anything but that until you make them. Because it's cheaper and easier.
The World Ends With You: Online
Except the battle engine's bad...great.
I guess I could say serves you all right for blowing your loads and making speculative threads with speculative timelines based on thin air, but that'd be the dick thing to say.
Ideally, you'll all start paying attention to dev comments and Yoshi's letters from now on. The next thing is in Mid-May with the "reveal" of the first new dungeon, unless Yoshi decides to give the go ahead on patch 1.17b. Until then, just sit tight and wait.
you cant enjoy an event much when all you did was talk to a npc get an egg kill a mob once or 2wice for eggs drops and your done with it on 1st days both things were done egg wise.
Well yeah but all holiday events are like that. Unlike the others it was tied to the world around it in a significant way, even if it was just a blogosphere pretending makebelieve tie. It didn't just pop and despawn like a random NM.
I mean the whole thing was probably just a text adventure, but...that's something too, right? Even just a little bit.
Now don't get me wrong, if they keep pullling this ****, call them out for trying to get away with low production value cheap shovelware, but eh...it wasn't so bad. An easter event with a sinister side, if only just pretend.
You're not paying for this game monthly so how can they "cut costs" and "cut corners" when they're losing money daily getting this project up to speed? All of XI's events had a story then in-game stuff, none of that story should be present in game because it's a simple event, not a storyline quest.
First let's complain the devs are wasting resources on holidays events and then let's complain said holiday events weren't elaborate enough... Niiiiiice.
I was disappointed at first with this event but then when we were asked to hunt down spriggans things got better and I enjoyed the festival. The whole summoning thing was just a ways to introduce what else is coming no biggie. This time next year I expect a much livelier event when the dev team isn't redesigning mechanics.
Lack luster ending for a lack luster event. At least the hats were neat and commiting Spriggan geonicide was mildly entertaining.
I have to agree that including a cutscene, not a cinematic thingy, but just a simple cutscene experienced by the player himself that illustrates the letter presented on the lodestone would have been a much better idea.
I can live with minor sidequests consisting mostly of text but adding little details like different camera angles and contrasting music when you activate and complete more important quests with a NPC (think of the chat with Minfilia during "Fade to White") would add a lot of immersion with a minor effort from the dev team.
I completely agree. Its not so much that "Lore" is a bad thing. I love Lore and storyline, but I want it to be more interactive in a Triple A P2P MMO (nevermind we arent paying for it yet). I am not demanding that everything have animated cutscenes, because I dont think its necessary for Leves and those new daily task thingers or any minor quests. But I would like to see a large (if not complete) amount of CS sequences in the Main storylines, side quests, class quests, endgame, and events. I don't want them skimping on quality, and Its not like its a lot to ask for, because there arent a lot of them. Now there are a ton of leves so I could understand not getting CS for them.
I can give you that, while I don't mind reading it off lodestone, I think the better approach would have been incorporating it in the game. Still, I think the event was pretty good overall, it wasn't something that took a long time or was super deep, but it did give players something to do (which is currently lacking in game) and a goal to go after, and had a touch of lore to boot.Quote:

I hope what i said made sense.. about the updates being made into stories, such as mob re-scaling, etc.
They guys at the end are described as hooded.... Must be Organization XIII...
Took the words right out of my mouth.
SE, while scrambling to fix the core components of this game, gives us an arguably good seasonal event and people still complain about it. They are trying to keep some semblance of normality amidst all the changes they are working on.
All you whiney children out there: just please unplug your keyboards and go do something else.
I'll concede that they do have bigger things to worry about, so I'm not all up in arms about how it has to be changed now etc etc. But when most of the other major changes and fixes are out of the way, I would still like them to focus on quality of in game story and lore through more interactive gameplay. Reading walls of text for quests and Bolg posts about stuff that happens in game is so non-Final Fantasy. So in the short term I'm OK with it while they fix things, but in the long run I definately want to have animated CS and interactive gaming experience in regards to storyline and lore.
