Eorzea evolving eveyday system? That's pretty awesome and something i wanted in a mmorpg since ever. And also the use of GMs to make 'role playing' events and lore is very neat. This is something great if implemented well with various world-events in the future too. A living world in continuos change.
Just got this from an npc in wineport
I'nairoh: One can never be too careful in a region crawling with thieves and brigands, so I duly concealed myself behind a nearby shrub. However, as they walked by, I knew right away that they were not the ruffians we are used to seeing here in Bloodshore. No, they were far too clean cut, did not reek of grog or ale, and spoke with a queer accent.
I'nairoh: One was speaking into a linkpearl, and I heard him say, “None yet know of our arrival.” Unfortunately, they passed out of earshot before I could make sense of the rest...and I had little desire to follow them.
Sounds really good. This is the kind of thing you want to see in an MMORPG - no matter if it is for the general changes in the game, or just the outright event driven stuff within the game. I really want to log on and play now, sadly I am unable to log in as of this moment.
very cool indeed
nice :O .. i hope that it is something of important for the game change.. and not just an event like easter, etc...
Its raining Every wheir again awsome.
Now it's in infernal sandstorm in Thanalan. Counting in hours how long it'll last....
Seriously, I think people are looking into the weather too much.. I'll agree that the rain is somewhat unusual (and also matches what was said about the previous umbral era). But sandstorms? They happen all the time in Thanalan xD
Earlier on there was a storm, over GRIDANIA! The world is ending people, this hasn't happened in the 7 months before today.
Well, rain again. Nymeia must be wailing her eyes out to be crying this much....Are they trying to turn all of Thanalan into a swamp? At this rate, perhaps even Thanalan will get a massive make-over.
If they redo Gridania zones after this storm, it would be nice if they added some monsters to it like Mandragoras or Ochus. It can be explained that prefer to come out only in more moist conditions and be very leafy in design. Also the 12 archons are like our guardians so wouldn't their rebirth be a good thing for us? Maybe our Guardian alignment can actually have some sort of beneficial effects because they were reborn. They did say those would have some sort of bonuses eventually yes?
They could be reborn, but would they retain their memories of good? Perhaps they'll regain them over time as they age and take up their duties again, but as they're reborn, they can think as a normal person from birth, and who can't say that they'll be influenced by discord and evil? I'm hoping they all stay the 'benevolent' dieties they are in the legends, but who knows in reality...Althyk could be a lecherous old man who laughs at little children.
For those who haven't read yet, here is some of the stuff the Ul'dah guildleve issuer is saying:
Totonawa: ...Recently, I overheard a client mention she was finding strange items on the creatures she slew while on levequests. I cannot even begin to fathom what these items might─
--
Totonawa: ...Another party of adventurers returned today with tales of crystals drained of their elemental aspect. I shudder to think of what might cause such an unnatural phenome─
--
Totonawa: ...Even the weather has proven quite a fickle mistress. One moment the skies are as clear as a mountain spring, the next, they are spewing down ice and stone. I cannot but help to believe this all portends something─
--
Each time she cuts herself off with:
Totonawa: Oh, pardon me! I did not see you arrive.
Totonawa: Ahem! Greetings, adventurer. I deal in the issuing of guildleves for regional levequests.
What I'd love to see in an MMO is dynamic terrain. For example if you get a lot of rain in Thanalan part of it will flood and new rivers will appear for a while. Then the water drains away and it goes back to normal. Same with snow, have it turn the ground white. Strong winds, where are my fallen trees?! Why does Thanalan lack sand dunes if we get sand storms so often, why don't those dunes move? There's a volcano north of La Noscea, I want to see it erupt every earth year or so and change a bit of the terrain in northern La Noscea!
Maybe technology can't yet achieve this without it being too demanding on the system, I don't know.
I realized it wasnt a normal GM, but it had the GM Icon. Thats why the subject is called "Strange GM". It was a human played character, it was not an NPC. The player was targeting people.
That would have been really cool, but he said nothing. He appeared for around 2 minutes and said nothing. I have a few more screen shots. He was also wearing glasses with his hood.
OMG I think he's an arcanist too! Awesome! I hope arcanist is a buffer/support class like bard ;D ;D ^-^ ^_^!!
Interesting. What happens with the terrain in Abyssea?
I think people are expecting too much with this event when you think about it. I don't think any of the regions will change. They'd have to redesign the routes and locations for every leve, every gathering node/leve, all the quests, missions and all the mob placements. That's a huge task.
I dont know if anyone has posted this but I wouldn't put it past the developer's since they love making play on words and jokes in dialogue and leve's. That with this 12 Archon even going on thats why the Archanist are showing up Archanist/Archonist. Just saying....
ah well, and by jokes word play I mean having leve's named Thwack ye mole for whack a mole, and in special missions leve making fun of people having different reiterations of sephiroth as a name.
It's actually a broad range when it comes to game design, since the fountain for example is an object that changes, just like the Sacrarium changes it's layout during certain days. Weather isn't terrain even though it is different depending on geological locations, however Miasmas are formed due to fissures in the earth or an unnatural source (like a crystal), hence why I said it is dynamic not to an extreme extent, since dynamic merely means changing.
I've seen this guy on Istory, i suddenly got boosts from him, as other pt members as other ppl, randomly. Those were the boosts we got:
- Quick 10min
- Hp boost 10 min (normally 1300, had 1600)
- Mp boost 10 min
- another one i forgot
That person talked German and, if i understood well (i'm speaking dutch, so pretty close to German), he was talking about the end of the world...His gear when checked him was lvl 1 gear, GLAD. But he looked like an THM.
To me, this wasn't a GM.
It's the symbol next to it and iirc in XI GM gear was also level 1.
he just forgot to hide himself
I've seen him. He's a mysterious Arcanist giving out free buffs and ominous dooms-day prophesies. First time I ran across him, I had just ported into Uldah and saw the GM symbol. I immediately ran over, hoping to grab a screenshot of the nifty shiny red armor, only to notice--he's not really a GM! And then he looked right at me and spoke a spooky message! He never repeated it for anyone else that ended up gathering around though. He did give all surrounding people some really nifty buffs though, before he vanished into thin air.
If you read "The Last Word" on the lodestone, you hear mention of this guy; and if you ever read the mysterious stone placard that Yoshi-P posted up very early in his new reign; this mystery Arcanist quotes a bit from it.
That and the Deaspected crystals going around... Something huge is going to happen--possibly in Grid--and I am SO excited! I LOVE the way SE is pulling the strings on this one.
Sounds like they are gearing up for something big. Battle patch to include the archanist job maybe? Personally I find that a bit presumptuos, but we can't just ignore that Archanist staff sitting on his back.
If you play Alchemist you would have seen that weapon on a NPC before as well claiming to be from the Archanist guild. If anything we might be getting new story events soon.
I think it was stated by Yoshi-P that the armory system and the job system work independently from one another. I wouldn't doubt its similar to the Support job system we see in ffxi, and each weapon class(Gld, Thm, etc..) are played as support roles for actual jobs such as warrior, thf, mnk ect. but IDK just a guess.
I am just excited to see where this new content is going ^^
So that ugly thing is the arcanist weapon..? Just another staff... and I thought we would have gotten combat scythes.. ):
This guy just popped up in besaid at Horizon, Managed to get 4 mins of fraps, uploading to youtube.
He spoke in French, last line English
And of course the most vital bit of information: its raining.
