really wouldnt mind if they went frazetta like with this. but either way i guess we ll see
You know what could be cool, and in SE style? Especially designed quest for that, with limitation to these players which played game before console version (or expansion).
It would be also good if quest require high rank, and will be solo only, simply cos it would mean, it's for players which actually played game in early stage.
And like You say ''one-time switch'', I'm against constantly changing race, gender etc. services offered in other games, they are just killing character's soul in my opinion ;D
or players who just started? i dont think high rank makes sense, and working to much on an event/quest for something they will probably never allow again might be too much, but if they were to do it, I would tie it in with the fact that we are echo hearing people, maybe the new chr was just hearing our old chrs thoughts, or the echo allowing some type of memory from reincarnation.
The echo is a very usable concept when it comes to dealing with changes
I haven't been on the forums in a bit due to a busy schedule but I like what I'm seeing in this topic. Thank you for the answer Bayohne, we all appreciate that this will be considered.
I also like some of the other ideas people have been posting even after the answer, such as having the "Echo" be used as part of a quest to allow for this change. I would think that the ability to change major parts of our characters such as race, and gender needs to be a one-time only thing as has been said, but being able to change more minor characteristics such as hairstyle down the road for Gil or something wouldn't be a bad idea at all.
Keep up the good ideas and thank you again Square-Enix for acknowledging this topic!
When I first started playing, the first thought that ran throug my head was that if they ever bring out male Miqo'te, I would delete my male Midlander Hyur and make a male miqo'te, but if I had the chance to just change my race I would be in heaven.
No thanks. Poop idea.
I'm all for this! If they do release male miqo'te, I'd love to be one lol
However, what if I want to go back to my previous race/gender? I think you should get a 1 time freebie, then after if you wanted another change you should pay money.
or just keep your old character and make a new one -.- I never liked the idea of gender/race changing, even for cash. You have the ability to have multiple characters for a reason.
I can understand a onetime deal, in the event new races and genders are added, like in this case, but after that, if you want another race/gender, make a new character.
I would love to play a male miqo'te and would certainly would like the option to be able to change once PS3 version comes out. Right now though I'm undecided if I would do the gender change (and hopefully name change as well) or just start out new and see how new player content has changed.
I'm totally on board, i've always wanted to be shorter^.^ but i still really want the haircut function to be added. You cant see my tiara with my hair now, its too long at the front >.<
Wait a second. They're adding new races with the PS3 release????? o.o
Yoshida's plan is to have male miqo's and female roeg's playable by PS3 release.
In other games, it makes sense to just make a new character because one character cant do every class and job. In FFXI and XIV, making a new character would only be sensable for a mule to hold items. I sure dont want to start over just to switch to male miqo'te. If this was as simple as 'We can only be one class and have one or two crafts' then sure, make a new char. Also, when we have to start paying, that extra character will cost you more.
I agree with this as long as they include a name change!! I also really hope they are including female highlanders. That is what i really want to play!!
Bumping this in hope of new information from a Dev and so more people can see this.
Would hope he does more than "consider" it. The current players are the reason why we will get the new genders of the races. If they don't allow us a one-time change, then excuse me while I lose my faith in SE.
He says Missing Genders not "Just Miqo'te and Roegadyn"Quote:
Hey everyone, sorry for the delay in getting this response back to you!
We talked to Yoshida and one of the things he mentioned was that the number of people wanting a female Roegadyn was pretty unexpected! He wanted us to let you know that the team will do their best to introduce missing genders alongside the launch of the PS3 version.
Still wouldn't take that as a certainty. At least the Miqote and Roegadyn have been addressed. As for Female Highlander, who knows, maybe they did say Missing Genders for a reason, and if all races have a male and female counter-part, why would Highlanders be left out?
I think they'll include the female Highlanders... I'm more curious of how they will make them look.
I think female highlanders would obviously have to be taller, not sure about leaner, in my opinion highlanders should of been a teensy bit taller, it is true people who live in mountain regions are taller than those who don't. I mean nordic peoples and such, at least for me there be no height genes in my family without being west indian and german (since the irish women in my family are like tea cup size), so the more tall people in my family on top of that did live in mountainous regions and in high altitude. On a female side, they should just look at taller women in human nature, they tend to have leaner muscle and high stature if they want to keep a eye out for the fitness people (my moms a fitness freak she'd prob go male roegadyn -.-) Or they could go tall but curvy, like a 5'9 women is more likely to way over 150 lbs and that's not actually fat at all, its rather healthy.
I think we're going to have a lot of transsexuals running around in the near future lol.
Yes and please :)
SE give us this gift for beta players at least :P or for prebuyers, those whit onion helm and garlong googles. will be an awsome gift.
Hey Devs! You should let us know what's going on with this, especially with the news of possible entirely new races!
adding my vote to this ^_^... one time freebie..
I don't mind either way, about the gender/race thing, because I've picked what I want, but assuming they update the character creation selection/options, like hairstyles especially, I would want the opportunity to re-build my character to check through all the new stuff in case there's something new that I like better. So, I guess that would just go hand-in-hand with the race/gender thing anyway, so it's a win-win situation.
I'm all for a one time only full racial re-customization on release of new genders/races. I know my boyfriend would love to be able to gender change his female Miqo'te into a male. +1 to the OP.
Please please please let us do this, just once. I really would like to change to a Hellsguard Roegadyn and be shorter. I made my Roegadyn so big and a Sea Wolf because it felt like a FFXI Galka. After playing for a long time however I've grown to like the look of the Hellsguard but I don't have the time to start a whole new character and level up all my classes.
I would like to have an area where you can redo the look of your character in CoH you had multiple "costume slots" that you unlock at higher lvls not really something that is needed in FFXIV but at least being able to get a little hair cut or extension or a little plastic surgery and nip and tuck would be a nice feature
the type of game FFXIV is, a cash shop crysta option would be the best rout, buy a "make over" ticket or somthing
simple things they could add in the Crysta shop without damaging the balance of the game...
Make over
new styles
new colors
"fun" cloths (nothing that really does anything stat wise)
now I did not add change race or gender, because I feel that is what more character slots are for.
now as a one time option for current players, I would agree that a gender change/race change should be allowed for free when PS3 version is released.
