ALL relic quest progress lost...

Progress: I had completed all steps up to Titan. I believe I may have accidentally abandoned the quest from journal when I was leaving a failed Titan duty finder group. It may have been a result of maintenance as well. I cannot remember for certian when I still have the quest in my journal.

Well I've given up and just bought the stuff over again. waiting a few weeks really isn't worth it. I'm also sure i wont get any compensation at all.

Couldn't escape Titan instance but figured dropping quest would kick me from it and I could just pick up my progress only to have it reset on me.

So if I want to transfer over to another server (I'd like to move to exodus with my group) would that interfere with the fixing process? I'm terrified that if I make the move you guys will somehow invalidate my bug report since it happened on my current server (Behemoth).

I beat Ifrit HM around 3:30pm and my journal states that I have "extinguished the Lord of the Inferno..." and that I must fight Garuda HM. On the right side of my screen I have the text: Obtain a howling gale in the Howling Eye (HM). That being said, if I scroll down the journal entry where it lists step by step what I've done in the quest line for A Relic Reborn it still says that I need to beat Ifrit HM--essentially, it contradicts itself in the same entry.

I looked in the duty finder but the Howling Eye HM isn't unlocked and just for good measure, I beat Ifrit again but to no avail.

Figured out the problem digging through these forums. Looks like I had to talk to Papalymo at Waking Sands to trigger the quest.

Well you can learn from my mistake then. I had transfered servers (From: Gilgamesh -> To: Lamia ) and this caused the Relic quest to abandon in itself.
Who knows if this invalidates my progress, but I will not be playing until I get it back. (If they want my business that is.)

Thats not the same as the bug this thread represents. We've lost out quest progress completely. Open a new thread.

Happened 2013-10-18 sometime around midnight.
I went with FC to kill titan for the quest and i noticed while we were doing the quest my quest wasn't showing up on my screen but i threw that off as being a bug from being in a dungeon and didn't think much of it then I logged in later after i slept for the night and I had no quest at all in my log. I went to the npc who gave me the quest originally and it wanted me to start from the very beginning before you even buy the weapon you have to put materia on. I was on the titan step and will not do all that over again. If this can be fixed that would be great, if not I am not sure I am going to resub if a bug can do something this drastic and nothing will be done about it. So hope you guys can fix it soon. Thanks.

I went to kill titan from duty finder in order to complete my relic, after I finally won it after 30+ tries, with such excitement, I found that I didn't obtain the key item after leaving the instance, and found the relic quest lost...

I am not redoing everything again, which I supposed to be obtained the relic...
Unbelievable bug, please fix this bug ASAP, having really bad experience this time.

After 20+ tries of doing hydra and waiting for hours to find party members we finally managed to kill Hydra. Only to find out that the timer never stopped thus the Duty Failed.
Quest does not update and so my progress is stopped.
I don't want to try, spend hours to find party members, fails alot and re do the quest as I don't know of this problem will reoccur.

Items I lost : Not much.

Time I've lost : Around 6 hours for me and my friends and my Free Company friends who helped me to finish the quest.

I was clearing out some leve quests that I'd picked up and accidentally abandoned A Relic Reborn. I'd gotten it all the way to Kill Ifrit Hardmode. It cost me 200,000 gil to get the Erudite's Picatrix Of Healing with two Quicktongue III materia (amazing that people are so happy to extort healers, who they rely on to keep them alive, but that's another issue...). I can't face the prospect of grinding up that much money from zero, let alone redoing all those encounters with pick up groups. This is utterly heart breaking, I can't face going through that again.

My girl friend (character name: Rhiandra Schreimaus) lost all of her relic quest progress at some point between logging out yesterday and logging in today. She was already at the step where all that she had left was to kill Titan HM. Despite having to redo all of the quest steps she also lost the pre relic weapons and the materia melded into it (quite expensive for a WHM, as the materia costs 40k+ Gil per piece on out server). She did now buy the stuff again to redo all of the steps.

yesterday night 2013/10/23 around 1:00 am JST i beat titan with a pickupgroup and thought i finished BRD relic weapon but to my surprise NPC Gerold had no exclamation mark when i checked my quest log it was still on Bowl of Embers(Hard) so Ifrit which I beat on BRD i think the 2013/10/20 afternoon or night JST with DF party during the fight i DCed i think and when i came back we defeated Ifrit. 2013/10/21 after 21:00 JST i beat garuda with a pickupgorup.

At least you can buy everything over again. The two pieces of materia I need are going for 60K a piece. It's ridiculous.

I was doing the titan phase for the relic quest and in the middle i found out that my quest wasnt showing on my quest tracker on screen. I thought it would be a bug. Restarted the client and yet it wasnt there again. So i went in and checked my journal and it said 0/30 for the quests. So i decided to go back to check the npc to see it has anything to offer. I thought maybe i was supposed to go talk to him. When i got near him i saw the quest mark above his head so i decided to talk to him. He gave me the Artemis Bow relic quest. Still with good intentions i thought it might be a bug. So i grabbed the quest and it turned out for the quest i had to do the whole chain all over again. I know this post has got some responds from mods/devs but honestly this is a very serious issue for a game company to have. Maybe if it was a sidequest, it would be acceptable up to a certain point but since this chain gives you the best in game weapon that you can use for end game; it is a bit of a problem. Some people have all the time they need to even start all over and dont mind doing it. But some like me, just love to play games especially into whole FF genre with a very limited amount of gametime due to either work or family priorities. And when i was scrolling through the forum, it sort of made me feel disappointed not being able to find a solid response for this issue.
I know sometimes how hard it may get dealing with in-game bugs and other problems and get to be overwhelming at times but reality is i dont see how this can be used as an excuse when there is a very serious problem especially with the main aspect of the game preventing most end-gamers to go for the actual end game properly or feeling uncomfortable. And i think 114 different posts about the same problem coming from players is more than enough to consider this issue as one of the priorities.
Please try to at least focus on this issue with the rest of the priorities you already have so people aiming for solid end-game wouldnt feel left out on that aspect. After all, although games are made for a more mainstream community in the last few years, as we saw many examples recently and in the past; what makes a game keep on standing on its feet or the downfall is mostly affected by its core players rather than people out there to have some casual gameplay. And at least me as a part of the FF community overall want this game to keep on standing on its feet proudly.

I've also been hit by the relic quest bug....i'd done everything up too the titan fight...i've been running titan through duty finder....have yet to kill him....however tonight i noticed my quest log was empty....went to check the npc and my relic quest has now been reset back to the beginning :( ....wasted 120+k on the weapon required which i've now lost and also a good chunk of time advancing through the quest and doing everything required...really disappointed...i have currently restarted the quest now on a new job....i really hope this doesn't happen again

p.s .....seems alot of people abandoned there quest.....i did not....it just disappeared!

Was at Chimera. Entered the instance alone. I tried abandoning the quest in panic, hoping it would end the duty. It didn't, so Chimera killed me. Went back to quest giver to find him having me start all over again! A quest should resume where it was left off. I handed the rod in, I should not have to spent more gil and more time doing it all over again! When I went to put in a ticket for a GM, all I got in reply was a copy paste telling me to go to forums and post my issue. How are we not able to speak with anyone directly in game. Do we not have in game support? This is very frustrating.

Honestly im happy to hear at least you got some kind of reply for your ticket. I put up 2 tickets about this and haven't received a single reply so far. What i figured was; since nobody seems to think on the dev side that this is a serious impact on the end game, i thought it would be still faster to start all over and actually finish it before anybody on the company side would reply. What i think it should have been though was to rollback the progress on the quest and help the players that way rather than speaking vaguely on giving up a deadline for the fix. Don't get me wrong, there are many good sides to this game but honestly if it takes this long to even fix a bug in the very core aspect of the game, maybe the game wasn't meant to be officially released yet who knows....
