Just unlocked all these level 50 dungeons today. Since exp is locked @ 0/568000 or something like that. I just want to fight the bosses and get the loot.
By the way all the exp that we don't get at lv 50 should come back as bonus when leveling other classes.
What I'm wondering, along with my FC, is if they will add an update to make enemies not leash back to their area after death. Make them all just stay where they are when they lose aggro. It's what we expected going into dungeons, and were kinda surprised when it didn't do that.
The fact people are asking for them to make it so we can't speed run prior to making it WORTH killing mobs makes me think none of these people have a 50.
Seriously, AK has a lot of trash. And NONE of it gives you anything other than a repair bill. It isn't challenging, it isn't fun. I'd rather just get my tomes and get out. Now, if it were like oh... Almost every other MMO ever made, and trash in dungeons actually gave you a half-ass decent amount of money then sure. I'd kill it. Until then, I'm going to keep training thru instances because it is an absolute waste of time NOT to.
Solutions are easy, make trash drop items worthwhile. Or gil. Or give us extra tomes. Do anything that gives us even the slightest reason to kill it. Crafting mats could work too, hell while you're at it SE... Why not make some actual open world content for 50s that isn't worthless? Big huge world, and it's all just a themepark ride to 50. And then you never have a reason to go back.
Some suggestions:
1. Lock out boss rooms until a certain number of mobs are defeated.
2. Add a tomestone bonus for the amount of mobs you defeat (IE: Kill 10% of total mobs and get 10 extra tomes at the end, kill everything and get 100 extra tomes or something)
3. Make the rewards equal for all dungeons (Everyone spams AK because it has the best rewards of all the level 50 dungeons. Either nerf AK tomes, or boost the tomes from WP, make them equal so the load spreads out between multiple dungeons instead of AK.)
Well, by that logic, why even have mobs? Why not have the only things in the dungeon be the bosses? Let's just get rid of all mobs and leave The Soulflayer, Wall, and Dragon in AK.
That just seems so extreme, there are better ways to go about it.
I hate to say it, but SE likes speed runs. In 1.0 if you didnt/couldnt speed run you didnt get a relic, so i doubt they will change it. I am sorry for all the people that got treated badly but getting rid of speed runs isnt gonna make people less angry.
That's not a valid excuse for any MMO.
No one is forcing you to cap Mythology tombstones, the cap is there as a content gating for people that have a lot of time to play games and will not be miles ahead of people with less time.
You're not entitled to anything, if you don't have enough time to cap Mythology tombstones in a week, tough luck.
For all you QQ out there square enix did something about speed runs now I hope you enjoy taking about a whole day to get like 8 runs in just to get a piece of gear lol have fun

Yup and people won't group WAR anymore. So basically I either switch and lvl a PLD or quit the game because I won't be able to run anything, nice move SE.
Did they increase movement speed of monsters?
I only did 1 or 2 runs but I was being hit by hippogryphs the entire way there, I'm used to being able to easy mode the first run so i wasnt really tryin i didnt use cooldowns etc, and i didnt use sprint at the best times, but it seemed pretty obv to me that they made it pretty much impossible even with the best timings
As much as i liked capping my seals in 2 days...speed runs had to go, it was getting ridiculous.
Still, every single pack that can be avoided, will be avoided if there is no reward.
Also I don't know how the new mechanism works yet, but if people have to do 2 pit stops (run/die in a safe spot/raise) to get to a boss, they will probably still speed run it.
So to stop people from skipping the boring trash, they add a barrier and MORE boring trash. Not a very good decision from a design standpoint.
I don't like speed runs, and this just hurts everyone by increasing mob speed and placing more mobs why don't they must implement more gates....asian mindset is weird.

Mobs dropping a good amount of gil would be my idea for making trash worthwhile.
Maybe implement some sort of mechanic that gives you gil at the end of the a dungeon based on-
1) How many trash mobs you killed
2) How fast you finished the dungeon
3) How many people died/how many times you wiped.
And this wouldnt just be for 50 dungeons. It would be for every dungeon, giving you some incentive to help your leveling friends with their leveling dungeons, or maybe even to DO dungeons on your secondary classes. I dont know about most people, but if it isnt a 50 dungeon, Ive only done it once for story/GC hunting logs. The EXP is atrocious and you'll replace any loot you get quickly. And it should be a significant amount of gil becaue right now there are no ways to MAKE gil. You can earn it, sure, but the amount of gil leaving the economy seems to outweigh the amount coming in, at least after 50.
Totally prepared to leave FF14 due to how SE handled this. They're not solving the issue but instead gave us a shoddy "fix" that players have to ultimately pay for.
Why not make more dungeons? Why not make tedious content more rewarding?
It is when the company in question is asking you to spend 50 hours doing something just to get to the only part of the game that matters.
2 dungeons, 3 easy primals that fall over dead and a raid the lead developer thinks only 100 people are going to complete isn't "endgame content", love. Especially when it's gated by a shamelessly throttled grind.
That's just a flop.
I sure hope the implementation of PvP to this game goes better than their presentation of endgame content.
/sigh what you have to understand is it already requires a huge amount of tomes to gear up. Why in the world would i want to have 45 min runs for 80 tomes...when i need 1320 "just" for 1 piece. Grinding for hours for just 1 piece of gear would get ridiculous especially considering that some people have more than one job to gear up.
Sorry, but if you played FFXI did any of you "ambiance" seekers clear trash to bcnms like for storyline or did you sneak/invis past as much as possible (don't lie you avoided aggro like the plague) this is, because the first time you run a dungeon its fun and exciting, but why should that require the tedium of constant pointless encounters. Oh and btw you'll have to run AK about 60 times so have fun with your near hour runs.
Hah, exploitters just whine now since they have to actually do something to accomplish the dungeon. This is hilarious.
As a tank I found it a bit annoying when TOLD to speed run it.. hello you paying my repair bill? What they really need is a gear check, people are going into AK as soon as they can and they are not putting out the DPS needed to complete the place no less in time.
Saw someone else suggest this, but make every trash mob drop a tomestone. It takes too long to queue up. If trash had an incentive we would kill it. Spending time to kill trash mobs, only to have ONE player receive a single gil is infuriating.
For all the people thinking that this fixes rage your sadly mistaken. This will only compound issues where crappy dps players are raged at or people leave the instanced before starting.
After all now that you have to clear trash, dps needs to be strong to clear quickly and people won't bother putting up with poorly geared dps who typically wouldn't clear the first boss anyway. As you have to waste 10 min getting there through trash.
1.0 had speed runs right. Even clearing trash properly allowed you to clear cc av in a short amount of time.
New players may not understand this since they are bound to one class atm, but wait until they start to play more classes, they will see that you need... around 5000 tome to fully equip full set of one class full darklight. that is around 60 runs.. If it take 1 hour per round (including queue time), then it take 60 hours per 1 class. now, if you have 8 class then you would have to do this 480 hours which cost more time than your full time study in university semester. if you put 480 hours into study/work, then you would either become top of class or get promoted.
SE obviously read this thread... SE is now punishing speed-run players by forcing them to run the entire dungeon. This is ludicrous. If SE intended on players running the entire dungeon, this mechanism should have been implemented at release. It seems SE tried to respond to people rushing players when they don't want to be rushed. As a result, they wrongly punished the speed-run players.
Speed runs aren't bad. SE needs to remove this new mechanism and implement something that groups speed run players together and anti-speed run players together so they are separated and grouped with like-minded players. Fix the problem not the symptom.
480 hours would equal 4 hours a day studying for a semester. I feel bad for you if you consider that a lot of time studying/doing work for 4 classes. That seems like a very short amount of time to gear 8 classes in full DL gear. You also forget that you get both types of tomes for running AK which will significantly reduce that number you threw out there as every 2 runs get you 80 of the other tomes, up to 300 a week (I cant remember what the 2 are called right now... Philosophy and something else). IF it was 480 hours to gear all your classes, that is 2 hours a night for less than a year (its actually one fully geared class a month) to fully gear 8 classes in full DL. Do you want it given to you?
Speed runs are not bad, so is normal one. The only bad thing is as Alise points out it takes 60 times to fully equip darklight gear (I assume this is AK). Cause if you are doing WP, it would take 100 times. Let's see 30-45minutes a run for full clear (if the party sucks, then longer or worse, duty will fail). The queue time is 30-60min. Let's give the best stats, 30min wait time and 30min queue time. So it would take 100 hours WP run. If you play 3-4 hours a day (at least the one with jobs have only that much to play or less, could be more on weekends) then you are looking for 30 days. Personally, I don't like to run WP for 100 times. There has to be better way to get gear.
Congrats to all the "haha exploiters got played" peeps. You guys won this round apparently. Now I'll come back in a week and see the "Omg it takes so long to get gear to do Titan HM" threads. As others posted 60 hours of your life are now going to be wasted running the same boring dungeon over and over before you can even attempt to get into the "raid". Quotes because I don't consider an 8 man a raid at all.
This was a completely dumb move on SE's part and for the people that like it, enjoy it you will be in this dungeon for a long long time and the parties will get much worse. I know for sure if i am pugging it I will be gear checking before I make the first pull. No Ifrit/Garuda wep on the dps and I'm out. Not worth wasting my time killing trash for an almost certain wipe on demon wall if not the first boss. Get ready for more massive "QQ I can't complete the dungeon" threads.

I'm not elite. My highest character is level 34. But I would like to play the dungeon the way I want as long as it doesn't bother other people. I try to maximize threat as tank and DPS as DPS. I am in a FC of about 40 on a new server and about 4 members are already 50. I would like to think I'm a skilled player once I learn the mechanics but I'm certainly not the elitist type and neither is my FC. This is a time problem. I don't know 50 tier gear that well but it looks like we'll be spending 60 hours a set for mid-tier 50 gear. AF2 is way better gear to spend time on. With this mechanism, I might even try to beat the quests after AK undergeared instead of gearing properly because there is a better time vs. reward tradeoff.
The average full group had 20-30 minute queue times for the instance because there wasn't enough space on the servers. Now, with the average run taking 50-60 minutes, you're going to be looking at queues of that length. Nice, SE.
I so do get the point. At the rate people were getting tomes before this even casuals would have been to end game in a month or 2 lol. Then what? I can run castrum in about 40 minutes and get 100 tokens with my FC and all of us in vendor white gear and a few crafting pieces of jewelry for materia farm. This is by far the best way to farm tomes/gil. You do not need to run AK more than 4 times a week and then you can go to castrum for fast runs. People are making far to much out of this.
