And honestly, if they can't come up with an better idea to prevent an abuse of the kiting mechanics than mobs that conjure an infinite number of projectiles out of thin air, they are finished anyway.
saying that every mob would be easy to kill is nonsence for one the damn enfeebles dont work all that great, bind misses 1/2 the damn time and if it does land it sticks for 2 secs and it worked perfectly in xi u couldnt run through a aggressive zone w/o getting merked even if the mob had no ranged attack
So long as the squirrels still retain Nut Kick, I'm fine with a few things not being able to instagib you from afar.
Actually, every class has the ability to use a ranged attack. Taking away that ability from mobs just doesn't seem like a plausible idea to me, unless they were to take away some projectile weaponry from us.
And ranged attacks usually hit harder than regular attacks >.>
I think the point was not in the realism, but in the possible abuse of non ranged mobs versus ranged pcs.
far as ranged attacks hitting harder, its not really exactly true, most ranged attacks are actually elemental based, so it probably seems harder if you have low mdef, which many DD have due to gear, and low mind. however shell is way more of a damage reduction than protect, so what usually ends up happening is with shell, you take less damage from most ranged attacks, also if you have good resistance to it, mdef, its actually wayyy weaker, this basically means mages usually take a lot less damage from ranged attacks. which is why they can get away with bind and nuking, whereas for some melee leaving a monsters close range is a death sentence.
-Advertise the combat system as one with emphasis on positioning and spacing
-Release game where a monster can hit you regardless of position

Kiting and binding tactics are for weak, desperate players who insist on failing to win instead of simply winning.
Yep, ranged attack for every mob needs to go...always bothered me.
Give Bind a rest, it wears off as soon as the mob is hit, and they can resist it so it's not 100%, even with 8 people casting it.
i said this elsewhere, but kiting in a limited amount is interesting, but the mechanics should make it an actual skill based situation, your max running space, and your enemies skills should make it an actual fight, not an auto win once you understand the basics of kiting.
otherwise they need to give melee a similar skill based tactic that allows them to beat almost anything regardless how powerful it is.
though with monster specific kiting limits, and more mixed mob groups, you could still get some kiting in game without making it the super answer

Kiting is NOTHING but overprivilege and exploitation of the ranged classes. A common problem it seems.
Sounds like chronically spoiled ranged classes just want to be worth more than the close fighters like they used to be in xi.
