Say yes to Cross-world group finder

To add the true reason no one wants it, is because there wouldn't be a "need" to join a linkshell to do them. They want to "make" people join linkshells to do this. Which isn't very fun might I add.

Sorry but, if they do not do cross server que, the wait time will be 1hour or more. Since those who run dingeons in set linkshells or groups out weight those who are not in them. This has nothing to do with rep, server communities, ninja looting these are just excuses. Why should I be forced to join a linkshel, who runs these dungeons, or be fore to spam LFG shouts to get a group. I should do content as my leisure as it is a game.

I want to beable to que up, wait 5-30 min, and just have fun. Stop trying to make this game not fun guys, or make this game into a second job because you want to control the servers.

NO it does NOT destroy communities, ppl won't stop talking/interacting with others on they're server cause they played with peeps from other "worlds". Besides, a lot of people only do stuff with linkshell mates in ffxiv so there's not much to destroy here.

There was cross-world group finder in WoW and it worked wonderfully in my case so its a big YES for me.
It was so much easier to get a tank or healer when they implement it and i didn't have more trouble with noobs then when it was same server group finder. There are noobs on every server so i dunno why you're crying about that.

That feature is also very good for servers with very low population.

Do not want, I want the people I play with to be on my server. I like forming bonds with people I meet and have the chance to see them again. Hell it's even nice to have rivals this way as well.

so join a linkshell. the cross server grouping is mostly only for dungeons. Plus looking for a group can take hours. I rather get a group fast. And like I said it is mostly for dungeons anyway. So wait times are cut down. Just be non cross server wait time is very long.

You guys are just as bad as DCUO communities are. I quit dcuo for a few reasons and the biggest one was the community. They called people such derogitive names just for not wanting to join a legion to run raids. Saying if you are a qu person who suck at life. Sorry but only aggrogence and ignorace is harming the communities. Not wanting a cross server que is hurting the comminuties. All because you guys are getting rude over threse things with out really thinking about them or other side.

I find it funny that the people against this can't come up with another reason other than "bad community". If you people are that worried about it, how about some kind of limit on it? Let's say you can only use the feature one or two times a week.

Keep in mind that for every nub you see you will also see someone like me, who generally knows what to do in given situations, knows how to play but works such irregular hours that I can't sign up for events or join a guild/LS because of said work. You being against it screws people like me, which suffice to say I don't really appreciate.

pretty much this as I fall under the same situation as does my ex/bf.

it all an act because ppl want to force others to join linkshells. The only thing making the community bad is those saying no for lame excuses. You guys have such a trashy view on it. So far all of it is a bias ingorant excuses. No valid argeument.

because they play to relax and have fun. Most ppl on these forums take it to seriously.

I suggest everyone go to the station forums for the ps3 version of DCUO. You guys against it are starting to act like these communities.

The only thing ruining the communities are people who treat others rudely which can happen with or with out cross server party lfg. Plus it will most likely be only for raids and dongeons.

I think people shou;d stop letting tyheir bias ignorace speak for them. They should really take a good look at their replies and think on who they are effecting and how rude they really sound.

You rude derogitoy bais views on such things is what is ruining the community. Such as the casual vs hardcore wars.
I hardly got to do stuff in ffxi when I wanted I always had to wait till ppl felt like helping. And they varely showed up or be on time.

only thing that make for a bad community is those who would put limitation of a person fun sorta speak. As in making them join a LS and play the game under scheduals forcing them to go even if they don;t feel like it. It is a video game not a work place. Ig you don't want it just do not use it.

My vote is that they (SE) try this system out on the new "test servers" and that they "invite" peeps from different servers/worlds to try it out and give some feedback. It it works and peeps like it, patch it in, otherwise forget about it and don't waste too much time on it.

I'm all for anything that is fun that a large enough percentage of the playerbase enjoys, even if I don't.

On a side note I would like to comment on a constant (and growing) trend on these forums that I find disturbing. I see alot of "I want this" and/or "I don't want that" which is fine, esp since they asked for our opinions but there is so much rage in many peeps posts that I think we all need to remember the words of Mick Jaeger/Kieth Richards...

"...you can't always get what you want...and if ya try sometimes...ya just might find...ya get what ya need..."

Ultimately we will get the FFXIV that they give us (evolving of, course) and it will most likely contain content that some enjoy but some do not. It is a big virtual world and there is room for content for every kind of player.

HANDS DOWN! i vote yes.... there is no reason not to have dungeon finder system and cross server... if you dont like it dont use it but having the option there is what it is....an option....why would you people NOT want more things implimented in the game your only limiting yourself and the game by not having more functions in this game right now...

Which I think is smarter, why bitch about something before you know how it's going to work? Sure we have an idea of how it might work because of WoW. I say look at trying to improving the system, implement it, if it works keep it or if everyone hates it then get rid of it. I do see both sides of the argument, I just don't want people blowing this off because how it works in another game. If we work together to think of ideas to make cross-server groups less detrimental to the community then I think it could work. We could have a player karma system, if see a player with bad karma then you're less likely to group up with them or have harsher penalties for players that drop the party and etc.

You try having to go to school 6 days a weel till 6pm. with only 1 mnth breaks between semesters. Also with the possibility of having to get a job @ the age of 14 just to afford to go to high school. (which you must pay for public or privet)

wiki is your friend. Most jp see the game as just a game. Where ppl over here don't for the most part. If ppl saw this as a game, we wouldn't have half the wars over additions. I read a few jp posts they post way nicer (agree or dissagree) then most ppl here.

stuff like this can be removed if the need for it is great. You know not everyone play @ "peak" times. in ffxi even before the servers pops whent down, ppl played in odd times. Where it is harder t find a grouo to do much of anything. With you not wanting it, your skrewing over those people.

Thats a perfect example of why it's bad to not complain and just let them add it. It took what 6 months of fighting after it was implemented to get it taken out?

Cross-world partying would be an instant quitting flag for me. The system is already mindless as it is, remove the actual possibility for socialization with people from your server and there is nothing left of value.
Level-synch + bigger server population will solve every partying problem, so let's not be childish.
A cross-world system would also help RMTs to progress by mingling with normal players.

Yeah in some things it's not smart to wait, but this is just a game so I think it reasonable. That's how the Japanese are, they prefer to wait and see how it goes before they complain, I can't fault them, it's their culture. You're right, this isn't anything we haven't seen before, that's why I suggest we try to work out the kinks instead of completely blowing it off. SE is willing to listen, I think we as a community need to come together and think of how to make the system work instead just saying no. Maybe if we did that SE would see our recommendations and implement them first before putting the system into the game. Also if we ever get a test server for this game, then that would help out a lot too.

how do you know? a majority will want it for sake for not dealing with bs from elitist. I knew alot of ppl who refused to do end game because of that.

I also know alot of ppl who in ffxi do not play at peek times. Who you are skrewing over btw but hating it for sake of hating it.

I'm one of those ppl >.> just in case if I appear angry to anyone. I just hate getting skrewed over because of my play time.

The community reps are gonna have a fun time trying to decipher the community reaction from these two threads. Especially when there is so much to filter. At least the majority of nonsense can be gotten rid of just by blocking one member's posts.

Yes, that simple.

People you play with on your server are people you can meet every day and enjoy every part of the content with. People from other servers you won't ever see again. It's not a difficult notion.
Sure, you don't become best friends with every single person you leve-link with, but cross-server partying means not having the chance at all.
Plus, with a system like this everyone will obviously make use of it, as it is the simplest and laziest option.

I have a very random schedule in my life and whether i play at 4 am or 4 pm i still find the same amount of people.
Currently the "peaks" are fairly consecutive. I see JP and late NA in the mornings, late JP and EU in the evenings and mostly NA at night. The only way you can be screwed is by not talking a word of english, which, frankly, is asking for it in a cross-region game. With a NA and an EU linkshell i have people to talk with at every point of the day. My server's forum has a list of active linkshells and their officers too, so its ridiculously easy to get one.

If you can't find a linkshell when the lack of players makes them desperate for new members (aka you're too shy to shout a few times, or ask groups of people with the same LS icon), don't speak a word of english or japanese and want to party 24/7, then well, regardless of the system you will be screwed.

If i wanted a party i can't interact and make friends with, id go play a singleplayer FF and not worry about this anymore.

Finally, there is already behest and certainly there will be other similar activities in the future that help making casual parties. Such a technically complex and anti-communicative thing as cross-world partying should never exist in a mmorpg to start with, unless it's for PvP...

I can see this idea being used for other things, like cross-server competition. Let's say they brought ballista to XIV, then we could have cross-server tournaments. It's just a thought anyway.

i like the cross-server group idea but it wouldnt be good if it works like in WoW. I mean sit in your city and put queue and wait. Maybe they have to put a requirement like you have to go to where the dungeon is in the world to join the queue.

Definitively Yes. For who doesn't have enough time to find a group, and run in the dungeon it's a nice thing. And as the topic's creator said, no one force to use it ;) !

People keep saying there aren't any valid arguments against cross-server grouping, so I'll take up the challenge. I've played WoW off and on for a total of 4-5 years, both before and after they implemented the system, so I'm quite familiar with what it does.

1.) Intra-server parties cease to exist.

After the cross-realm system, it became a very, very rare thing that you ever saw an advertisement for a party that wasn't for end game raids. After all, who is going to take the time to do that when you can simply jump in the queue and have your group in a matter of minutes (less if you're a healer or tank)? After the introduction of the cross-server function in WoW, the only intra-server groups I saw below max level were guild-based.

2.) Zero Accountability

This was one of the bigger problems that the system created. Since you likely wouldn't see the person again, some people took this as an excuse to say goodbye to any semblance of personal responsibility. Ninja-looting was the most obvious affect of this, but this also had the side effect of turning people into complete arses. I've seen people request a group boot for the most minor of mistakes, and generally if the group wipes once at least one or two people will simply drop the group. In an intra-server group, this type of behavior would quickly land your on various blacklists.

With the cross-server system, there's no penalty whatsoever. Usually, if nothing else, you could at least talk to that player's guild leader, but even that's not feasible in this system.


3. Drone Creation

This was the oddest effect the cross server system had. For some reason, after this system was implemented, people simply stopped talking in parties. I can't count the number of times I found myself in a run where two to three sentences were uttered at most. Given how quiet FFXIV already is, I have no doubt that this effect would be even worse here.

4. Community

Yes, this is one of the most often-cited counter-arguments, and it is true. Cross-server instancing has a rather severe effect on server communities. Since you're so frequently grouping with people from other servers, you don't get to know the people on your own server. This is less of a problem on RP servers, but still applicable.

I know there are several positives about this type of system, but I feel that the negatives far outweigh them.

parties with inta server no longer happening = false, no one is forcing you to group with cross server people.

zero accountability= false cross server parties do not cause this. It can happen w/o cross server parties. Play ffxi now and you will notice not everyone says hi or bye anymore.

drone creation= false. play ffxi and you'll notice not everyone talks in parties anymore. It can happen either way depending on the person.


community= false. Communities can be good or bad either way. Only thing that really makes a community bad is high strung elitist. Those who tell you what gear you may or may not use, how to play, which guilds to join, when to party etc.


everyones "valid" aguement can happen either way. Cross server parties do no6t increase nor cause any of it.

A few questions
how often to people group and explore outside levequests?
how often do people talk in parties outside their LS's?
How often does anyone say hello or bye?
