Yep his life is over and should just end it now lol
Jesus shut the fuck up... damm NDA Nazis. Poor guy just said he was in alpha.
..and back on topic, loving these apha vids and omg crafting and gathering logs! epic win. Cant wait for the achviements that come with this!
i'd prefer to look at it like: i can do it myself, instead of looking around, pestering others to craft stuff for me all the time.
i can go out and gather what i need instead of buying overpriced items, that are easy to get; Overpriced, cause it's bothersome to lv up crafting, and cause lazy people prefer to pay overprice instead of gathering themselves. that wont really change, so those that aren't interested in crafting still wont bother.
i'm thinking end game gathering same lv items are gonna have 50% or less chance to succeed. and gathering higher lv items, gonna be less. so they'd need to spend tonnes of time trying to get the mats themselves...and lazy ppl wont do that.
And it's just silly overcomplicating something as basic as gathering materials and crafting to begin with.
it's just one aspect of the game, but when everything is overly complicated just for the hell of it, it's what made 1.0 fail so miserably. and it would be stupid to make that a feature. it would only make people dismiss ARR, and it would fail again.
why do people care so much about what others do?
and why do you feel the need to divide yourself away from others, calling yourself pro, and dismissing the amateurs?
amateurs are nice people too, and fun to chat/play with, so why the hell does it matter if they can craft and gather too?
it's a fun game, you shouldn't be entitled to some content, just so you can feel special.
you can show off your trophies in the form of Bahamut gear or whatever. Crafting should be the poor mans option to gear up a bit if they cant raid for whatever reason.
It looks much improved from 1.0, yet I can't currently make sense of any patterns in durability dropping between one synth action and the next... It makes it seem really random, which makes it seem like crafting 'safely' will be difficult.
It is very cool. It actually makes me want to start crafting and farming rather than buying materials and begging my friends to meld it. The only thing I didn't like are the bars over the enemies names. I think they are fine in close range but in long range it kind of ruins the atmosphere of the area.
Video looks good. But Christ, internet police, give it a break. I thought mods were in charge of doing this and I don't see red helmets in your avatars. AKA Let people who break NDA get an email and 24 hr ban and rock on down the road.
So you say, but not everyone strives to level all DoH classes, so I think to them it's just inventory clutter. ^_^;
I have gone out gathering for hours and end up with loads of worthless items, and before I can really go out and do anything else, I need to make sure I unload myself first (whether it be through vendoring to an NPC or putting up items for sell). This may sound silly to many, but I dislike dropping items to the ground unless it is like worth 1 gil only. XD
the gathering will be fun if you decide not to look at 3rd party website to look the distribution of the mats, you will be encouraged to explore more without unnecessary hassle like 1.0
I wrote a post the other day comparing many people on these forums to James Woods (don't ask). There wasn't a single curse word in it and, if anything, it was seriously meant as a joke. Within 10 mins of me posting it, for whatever reason, SE reps deleted it and took it down. If you don't think they would have been all over this guy for what he said about being in alpha, starting with deleting his post, then banning him from alpha, minutes after posting, your foolish. Obviously his post is still up, which means they have seen it and many like it, and left it up because he isn't viliolating ANYTHING. Let the reps do their job. If they needed your help, they would ask for it.
To say that this gathering looks interesting, fun, cool.. You're running up to a tree and clicking the item you want. Running to a tree. Clicking the item. That's the entire process, yet somehow because it's ARR, deserving of glowing adjectives?
I'm seeing two common reasons for why this is good. One is that you won't get unwanted items anymore, the other that it's faster. I hope these people realize that:
1) They could have gotten rid of unwanted items no matter what gathering system they chose
2) The potential for more of an item/hour does not mean increased value
3) If your issue of time was swinging the hatchet in 1.0 and waiting for it to resolve, that supports reducing the time it takes to resolve (which they did change as the video shows), not in eliminating the minigame altogether. Also, it's obvious that the historically bad latency in 1.0 was part of the problem.
SE has said one of two things here. Either they could not come up with a decent gathering system, or they thought no system at all was the best choice. Therefore, the only praise this should earn is that they didn't force an annoying, poorly thought-out idea on us.
Precisely, Coyohma.
Responding to the replies directed at my previous post, I suggest you read it again, and pay attention to the words. I never said I was the pro, neither did I say that amateurs are somehow not fun to play with, whatever that means. An engaging crafting system will not keep anyone out of the game in the same way battles for exp will not keep anyone out either. Bahamut thophies? Wtf are you on about? Fuck Bahamut. I want to have fun from start to finish.
You have to craft over your level for xp
I kinda like this system, makes me more interested in actually gathering my own materials. Crafting system is nearly similar but is very different at the same time, I'll have to try it out if i get into beta.
omg crafting and gathering actually looks fun!
I have to agree, and I am even more surprised by the sheer quantity of people on this thread that seem excited by it. No minigame, no skill required, just click the item you want now. I'd bring it up with Yoshi-P to change it back to a system that actually presents a challenge and requires skill, but chances are I'd be overruled by the sheer quantity of people who don't seem to want any kind of challenge or effort with DoL at all.
I couldn't agree more, and I am shocked by how many people here actually prefer to have their items practically handed to them rather than taking on the challenge that requires skill. If ANYONE can do it, you won't be able to sell your items for much at all, and there won't be all that much of an economy.
