Hey I just met you, and this is crazy!
But there's leaks up, read it maybe?
Sorry, I tried. A lot of crap you suggested is either being implemented in
2.0, or exists in xi.
Also, what? What purpose is there making you change your job just in your housing?
What's wrong with being able to change your job on the fly to make your party more versatile?
D-did I just feed a troll?
why do people, that find this game soooo boring and bad even care of opening a thread here? 9 likes on the OPs post ? 10 People that should rather go back to ffxi then if they think ffxiv sucks.
Don't feed the trolls, guys.
* Bah and noticed necro.
If SE want this game to stop having such a medicore subscription base then I'm afraid it NEEDS to be more like other MMO's.
Might be painful to hear but as it stands, SE just cannot continue FFXIV with the severe lack of players. 2.0 needs to succeed otherwise it's 'bye bye FFXIV'. They will not keep it open to appease a handful of players when they are losing so much money.
No, i'm not anti FF, i'm not pro WoW, you just have to be realistic about these things.
other then totally changing this into an FFXI clone which I don't want, and you seem to desire; SE has done what it can in the current engine for the game to fix these. THAT is why they have been making a new engine for the game. It can't be fixed in Crystal Tools.
SE failed in FFXI as well. Tanaka decided long ago that he didn't want to raise the cap past 75 because he feared how it would effect Jobs and people playing them. Other jobs gaining access to Convert namely. If they had raised the level cap with each expansion after RotZ, The gear would not have made thousands of pieces to pick from at level 75.
The player base for FFXI wanted the level cap increased. So they did. The only real mistake their was that they only popped out 3 expansions for Abyssea. SE could have done 5 or 6 in my opinion.
Changing classes/jobs at a set location is not good for this game.
XP lose with death, no thanks. That will create more elitism then you can imagine. We currently have no XP buffer, you want to die, and lose the ability to equip all your gear and weapons?
As far as redoing all the classes into their own type. I think that is already there. I was just leveling up GLD and MRD and the way those classes and jobs are built, they are very much defined as Tanks. I also think that SE plans to add a second job to all current classes. These second jobs will change the roles those classes play.
SE and Yoshi-p are making a new world for us. But they have also been kind enough to provide us with some content in the current world to play while waiting for that new world. This version of the game is going to go away and we are going to get an MMO that is more of a Final Fantasy game then even FFXI was. I played FFXI and enjoyed the story in it. Those of us who are paying to play now, are supporting the efforts of Yoshi-p's team by doing that.
edit: I didn't even realize this was a pointless thread from last year until right now and many of the changes now didn't exist then. lol
Want to make the game better?
Add Blue Mage.
Really?
Well FFXI is an older game then WOW and is still active. Many transfered to xiv while still playing there.
It's clear fro msoem peopel on these boards, that they are tired of WOW but want a wow clone. Then get blizzard to take the money they make and develope something on a decent engine adn stop pushing old engines with mediocre add ons. SE orgianlly didn't plan another MMO but decided to give it a try, and then decided to stick with it and redo it rather then push an engien they know wouldn't cut it.
Sure, you can make the game familiar to others of other mmo's but for the sake of the future, don't clone out dated games. GW2 is turnign me off for that reason.
Not to mention the fact that they focus specifically on things that came out during the "Final Abyssea Online" era - a period widely held as SE's active destruction of the MMO people had come to love for so long - as though the ~7 years prior, and all that came with it, never happened, or somehow don't count.
Gotta love it.
You realize stating what would "probably happen" in a scenario that's completely hypothetical to begin with is pointless...
No one knows what SE would decide keep or get rid of if such a thing ever happened, so to say "what they'd probably do" as the foundation for a counter-argument is rather ridiculous.
It's like saying "If hostile aliens ever visited from a distant galaxy, they'd probably only go after elephants, so there's no point in worrying about it".
And I just realized this was a necro'd thread. Ah well.
i would just like to point out that the current version of XIV isn't the "real" one. the current version is just to give us some thing to do until the "Real" XIV is released which is ARR/2.0. so before any more critisism is done please remember 2.0 is on the way
you do realize FFXIV was in development and in idea phase with Codename: Rapture back in February 2005... they were wanting to do it for sometime it wasn't a last minute change of mind of not wanting to do another MMORPG. Read the Development entry here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_XIV
Anima is Fine, I can recharge it daily with trade in items and such, works great!
we have rooms we can retire too and store u/u gear. i don't like that we can't sumon retainer in room and reset it too wards but meh, that gonna be changing soon.
dungeons are designed around changing classes during the fights. This was an intentional application.
The gear damage penalty is enough for death penalty, i don't feel like haveing too keep grinding everyweek cause my pt can't get speedrun on dungeon. or is strugling on how too beat garuda after p3.
Those enfeebles u want seperated from spells? they used too be in game. Got taken out too make new jobs later with them.
re-doing the classes? to give them a specific role, they made JOBS. classes are universal while jobs are the branch off to be a more specific role.
the search function works fine. Just no one puts up flag lfp.

Supposedly he was responsible for the FFXI expansions? I don't know, can anyone confirm that?

"When Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi P) came along and filled in during Komoto & Tanaka's absence during their work on XIV, he did more than sit idle and watch the game continue to follow the boring, dying path that Komoto & Tanaka had laid out.
He introduced an expansion that revolutionized the way we played FFXI, and solved almost every single major complaint of the game's mechanics in an extremely robust and well maintained way. They revived a good 6 jobs that no one could realistically play in any form of endgame and made them fun to play at all times. I think the only class that really got "hurt" was Bard, and as much as it sucks to be a relic bard who isn't as essential (still super useful though) in Abyssea as they are outside Abyssea, every single bard I knew was happy to be freed of the burden of bard for every single event. Every. Single. One."

He worked on Dragon Quest not FFXI, he never worked on a FF.
Edit: Also as a rule I never believe a post on a forum without a solid fact and reference to it, such as credits.
and sadly I am about to break my rule but I found this while looking for a "Yoshi-P Abyssea Connection"
Edit: actually never mind it is a repost of an official post from the FFXI page so it is official.
Mr. Mizuki Ito, director of the Abyssea series of battle area add-ons and creator of a wide range of battle content to date, will be taking over the helm as director of FINAL FANTASY XI.
Therefore your rumors is just people hating what Yoshi has done with FFXIV and blaming him for "ruining FFXI for them too" even though he did not work on FFXI.
FFXIV was never stated to be a continuation of FFXI. Like the flow of this. If you want FFXI deal with how retarded it has become. This game will not be FFXI nor should it be. This game has the chance to be a much much better game than FFXI ever was. Which hurts to say because I put a good 7 years of my life into that game. Best and worst part of my life. I can see the potential of this game, and "Mog houses" Would be stupid. You have your inn. Maybe later we can have player housing that does no have moogles. If you can not deal with change then a MMO is not for you.
